Can't wait to see what she does different. I really enjoy these personas.
Just keep an eye on Cleopatra’s new agenda this Thursday.
Perhaps just thank you instead asking kid's questions hehe
Resources near Floodplains get +1 Food and Culture, and Floodplains in her territory have +1 Appeal instead of -1. Her agenda favors Civs who have high food output.
"I will not be triumphed over"
*A wild Augustus has appeared*
Fortunately there is no Augustus in civ 6... unlike civ 5.
"...and she was promptly triumphed over by Octavian and his forces"
Well, technically the plague triumphed over her forces, not so much Octavian.
"I will not be triumphed over" 😬
julius caesar be like 'i veni vini'd her vincis'
Tbf she did die before egypt was conquered, tho both Ceaser and Aurelius conquered her..
It seems like this is the only persona skin, that looks better than the original one.
EDIT: However, her power seems quite useless...
I disagree
Her neck is too long, don't know if it's angle or not but it looks absurd.

Keep an eye on Cleopatra’s new agenda this week.
This is actually the closest historical portrayal of Cleopatra. She's gone full Greek here.
If only she looked and spoke Greek..
@@thibaultlpx7420 Please stop with the racial essentialism. Greeks, as a Mediterranean people, like Romans/Phoenicians/Spanish/Turks/etc..., run the gamut from pale to dark/olive skinned. There is no *one* Greek look.
Moreover Cleo was the seventh of her line, her family lived in Egypt for 200 years. Saying she's Greek is like saying JFK was an Irish potato farmer. She was ethnically mixed having adopted both Greek and Egyptian customs.
@@therexbellator Ptolemaic dynasty tended to enclose in consanguinity and cared to separate itself from the egyptian folk. There is nothing racist in the assumption of an ethnically and culturally greek Cleopatra, even if it breaks the cliché of an "oriental beauty" widely repeated by Firaxis.
Ehentually, your theory of mixed peoples who travel as they breathe is rooted in ideological and historical bias which I don't share.
@@thibaultlpx7420 Except that Cleopatra VII had gaps in her family tree that are unknown which opens the very real possibility she was likely mixed race.
When you consider that consciousness of race/ethnicity would not fully develop for centuries after her death, it gets a little weird when people get hung up on these characters.
Just step away from your position for a moment, and understand why your position is untenable.
The logic of your argument "A Greek looks like X; Cleopatra does not fit this model, therefore Cleopatra does not look Greek."
The fundamental problem with this, is, as I said, Greeks (and the vast majority of Mediterranean peoples) come in many different shades and sizes.
I'm simply arguing that knowing what we know about Cleopatra, including what we don't know, her current look is well within the realm of possibility. This position is far more tenable than one that insists she must fit within this notion of racial purity... which again... is weird if you're not a quote-unquote racist.
@@therexbellator The Ptolemies were renowned for their inbreeding and keeping their bloodline pure though. They wouldn't stoop to breeding with the locals to put it bluntly. While ethnically speaking she's somewhere between Egyptian and Greek, genetically she was just about pure Greek with a dash of Persian through intermarriage with a member of the Seleucids who had some persian heritage. That said, you are right in that the Greek/mediterranean look comes in many varriaties and while it could be possible it's very unlikely given how far her Persian heritage goes back.
THAT is what Cleopatra looked like!!!
It looks like she has got a new hat and dress, just like Malibu Stacy.
Cleopatra: I will not be triumphed over.
Octavian: Cleo open up.
Cleopatra has disconnected from server.
Ah Cleopatra, she is a friend and ally alright.. so long as you have a strong military, if you don't she'll go all Ghandi on your a** lol
Here's hoping the Restore Flirtatious mod still works on this version
Ptolemaic Cleopatra is probably best for a historically accurate Rome scenario

She still speaks Egyptian instead of Greek. While good old Cleo did speak Egyptian, her mother tongue was Greek, and she would have spoken Greek most of the time to most people everywhere, since Greek was the lingua franca of the time.

She should have spoken Greek. Even though she was the first and only Ptolemaic ruler to learn to speak demotic Egyptian
I don’t know if people are really that much interested in a load of additional leaders, sometimes more than 3 or more per culture. I consider it increasingly an overkill in favor of more attractive additions. Of course it depends on the taste of the players but I would rather prefer one important and still missing additional military unit instead of having 4 different Chinese or Egyptian leaders. Many modern weapons, especially nuclear ones, are still highly underdeveloped, e.g. there was so far no CIV ever to feature MIRVs! AND there are still no authentic ICBMs in Civ VI! It’s ridiculous that you have to have silos in a range to the target that is at best a long range IRBM. We also have yet no Stealth Bombers. And an important addition to the modernizations would be as an addition to the Air Field an anchorage or later a navy base, that can be built outside cities! That would be a real improvement. I haven’t bought one of these additional leaders and I am also not interested, because I only play with half a dozen or so leaders.
That neck game tho
Fix the AI not changing governments when in advanced era. In atomic deity now and most AIs are in tier 1 government.
Why she looking at my junk
🥵🥵🥵
No step on Cleo
"I will not be triumphed over" didn't she lose Egypt?
It depends how you define "lose." If you want to get technical, Egypt already surrendered 300 years earlier to Alexander the Great, starting the Ptolemic era. This era was marked by a large number of invasions and rebellions, upset with the overt amount of Greek imperialism. Ptolemic Egypt was destined to collapse sooner or later, even if the Romans hadn't intervened. She was just the end of the beginning of the end.
@@47Jaspers nice
She looks nice 😍😍😍😍😍
the ptolemaic version is also egyptian style?
ptolemaic is more Greek than Egyptian.
which is why it's weird she's talking about being Isis despite using her Greek identity internationally during her rule
@@electricVGC Yea, its just a copy paste job for animation and the voice.
@@electricVGC where did you read that?
the ptolemaic cleopatra spoke egyptian and often wore egyptian garb in for official ceremony. She used her greek identity to her advantage where it was useful.
@@Sgt.chickens think about what you and I said again. If you are representing a Pharoahnic Cleopatra and a Ptolemaic Cleopatra as two different parts of herself, which of those would be the one that speaks Egyptian, and which Greek?
My favorite Cleopatra design was from Civilization revolution, how about everyone else?
Ohh...that's tough. I really don't know. I am going to go with this design because it's more "realistic" but honestly you can't go wrong :)
I’ll keep an eye on Cleopatra’s new agenda so I can do livestream in two days after Valentine’s Day.
Yeah man love CivRev!
I love CIV REV, and I even got the chance to thank the composer here on UA-cam. But I'd admit CIV REV Cleopatra's design was based on archaic belief of her being the typical Egyptian queen that had the native skin color. Though coincidentally whenever I had games that involved Caesar and Her Rome and Egypt tend to get a long better than most.
What the hell? This game is still getting new DLC?
They could have given her some different make-up. Her face is the exact same, which is strange. I had thought the persona would reflect a different time of her life as well, showing in age. The animations are also a 1:1 copy, which is a bummer. Beautiful silk texture for the dress though.
*PETITION to have CLEOPATRA as the ALTERNATE LEADER for both MACEDON and EGYPT, with RAMSES at the DEFAULT LEADER for EGYPT*

Sadly, not
Console fix?
Console some day please
She should be speaking Koine Greek. Especially since the agenda is called "Ptolemaic". She didn't have an Egyptian bone in her body.
Historical Cleopatra is known to have been a polyglot, being fluent in both Greek (her native language) and Egyptian. She was the only Ptolomaic ruler who bothered to actually learn the local language as well as Egyptian writing (Demotic and Hieroglyphs).
@@taimunozhan i never said otherwise. She was still thoroughly and entirely Greek, as was her whole family.
@@TheSamuraijim87 Yes but she spoke egyptian in her day to day life because she lived in egypt. Its likely she spoke it frequently as many people around her would have only been fluent in egyptian. as most of the population was egyptian, and all the high priests spoke egyptian at that time period so she was recorded using it frequently for government matters.
@@Sgt.chickens i'm afraid you're badly misinformed. Native Egyptian was not "used frequently for government matters". Particularly since she was the first Ptolemaic ruler to learn it. You're not suggesting Cleopatra was the first Ptolemaic ruler to ever bother ruling the realm? There was a well established and entrenched bureaucracy in the nation, and it operated using Koine Greek, not Egyptian. The administration of the country was carried out overwhelmingly in Greek. Just about every archaeological source on the Ptolemaic Kingdom can corroborate that definitively. And even the Egyptian Priesthood would have used Greek in conversation with administration and royalty. And how was Cleopatra "recorded" as speaking native Egyptian? MP3? MP4?
@@TheSamuraijim87 i was reffering to specifically cleopatras rule.
Obviously many if not most government matters would be in greek. But she did use egyptian in many official state and religious ceremonies.
We want CIV 7!
Be careful what you wish for. With the latest development of the game, I'm really apprehensive about C7. Abysmal AI, complete lack of ballance, lots of obscure content... C7 may resemble more clash of clans the mobile game than civ4/5

But Cleopatra was white, Greek and spoke greek. It's in the "Ptolemaic" title.
After Assassin's Creed Origins, I don't trust her that much.
I wish you only added new leaders instead of the same old ones with new skins
Would have been interesting if they had made her a Macedonian leader rather than Egyptian.
Rather not, because she didn't rule over Greece of or the greater Alexandrian Empire. It would be the same as putting Baldwin IV, the Leper king of Jerusalem as being the leader of France.
She never ruled Macedon.
@@hieratics Regardless of their geographic holdings, the Ptolemaic dynasty was fully Macedonian; culturally, economically, etc. Cleopatra was far more similar to Alexander than to Ramses. And the Ptolemaic armies consisted of phalanxes and hypaspistai, not chariot archers.
And yes, I would put Baldwin as the leader of France. You'd rather have him as the leader of Arabia just because he was in the Levant??
@@shogaal14 and by macedonian you mean greek huh?
@@shogaal14there is no such thing as macedonian culture
Ok...
In 332 BC, Alexander the Great, king of Macedon, conquered Egypt from Darius III, king of Persia. He became Pharaoh and founded the city of Alexandria as the new capital. When he died, his beloved general, Ptolemy, succeeded him as Ptolemy I Soter. In 305 BC, he established the Ptolemaic dynasty, the last Egyptian dynasty which saw a Greek family ruling over Egypt. While Greek, the Ptolemies kept several Egyptian customs such as worshipping their gods, whom Alexander equated with the existing Greek gods, and even gave them Greek names; for example: Aset was the goddess of magic, healing, fertility, and motherhood. Alexander changed her name to Isis and equated her with Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest and agriculture.
Another custom was inbreeding, as Egyptian pharaohs before them married relatives to ensure that no outsider would inherit the throne. While Ptolemy had four Greek wives, all born outside his family, his son and successor Ptolemy II Philadelphus married his cousin, Arsinoe I. Fast forward over two centuries later and Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator was born in 69 BC (nice) in Alexandria. She was the third, and probably last, daughter of Ptolemy XII Auletes and Cleopatra V Tryphaena, the rulers of Egypt and descendants of Ptolemy II and Arisone I. Like the other rules, they were related, both siblings and cousins, meaning their children would only be Greek.
That's why Cleopatra looks like that, she is a Greek woman ruling Egypt. Alexander had a habit of adopting customs from the cultures he conquered and mixing them with Greek and Macedonian cultures, hence her outfit, which is a Hellenized (Macedonian-Greek) version of traditional Egyptian garb, which she wears for her regular persona.
Also, if we wanna complain about physical inaccuracies, why aren't we addressing that she looks thinner and prettier than the actual Cleopatra, who had a double chin, hooked nose, and plump sides.
NOW, as I got the history buff part of me outta the way, the gay part of me has to say this: SHE LOOKS SO SICKENING!!!
The persona would work better if she spoke macedonian
You mean greek
What the hell is that outfit
It's more closer to her depictions in films and mass media
it's a Hellenized version of the traditional Egyptian outfit her regular persona wears.
Ok thx for letting me know

Ukraine was founded in 1991, not exactly much of a civilization.
I get your point but there's no reason just to include it because they are at war. Ukraine doesn';t have much unique history. The region does, but not the actual nation of ukraine.
@@Sgt.chickens dude, there were literally Ukrainians living and they had and still have their own culture. We can apply same logic to Charokii, yet they are represented in civ 6.

@@Sgt.chickens You know that, the concept of Nationality has been created 19th century? That's why we may see emerging of the people like Theodor Herzl which lead to eventional creation of Israel.
Concerning "Sorry Ukraine means after 1991" If we are to forget about the Cossacks and establishment of Zaporozhian Cossacks state in 17 th with their own constitution ( Pelyk Orlyk's Constitution) there was still Ukrainian National Republic and West Ukrainian National Republic ( they were united btw) ,which was established 1917,so saying that there wasn't Ukraine before 1991 is quite a misconception.
