Man, watching your videos makes me wish I'd brought my bass with me for the quarantine. I love your content, and your tone is absolutely AMAZING in all your videos. Thanks for all the content during these hard times!
actually, by this era, he didn’t even have a fuzz pedal. He would’ve been using a compressor/limiter, an Ibanez TS9 and a Wah/Boost. All of the overdrive he gets is all from overdriving the hell out of his tube amp, the Mesa/Boogie D-180 ( it could be a 400 or 400+, but i’m pretty sure it’s the D-180 ). You can get insane amounts of distortion using the amp, and he loved it.
Yes it is the Mesa D-180. two of them actually, one for clean and one for distortion but I'm not sure if he used that in this particular song. my Dad was friends with one of Metallicas roadies during the MOP era
Jacob Judge oooo that’s sick! I knew he used two, and i think he also used a rackmount harmoniser/delay unit and maybe a chorus or delay pedal? I’d love to play through a D-180 and just crank it
@@EmptyDomoKanti99 yeah he used a ibanez hd1500 harmonic delay rack mount for the intro to orion along with his wah and rumoured to be a Washburn delay but it was mainly used for the intro to damage Inc. for the intro to Inc there is about 10 different bass tracks being layered on each other and the occasional one played backwards. if you can find one I recommend finding one of those ibanez thing to sound like it but otherwise play around with any digital delay and some reverb and a wah for orion
Dude that Alembic sound ruuuuulzzzzzz!!!! Also I see talk of a big muff. While it does do a fairly good job of getting a Burton tone, I actually have reason to believe that he never used that and what actually created that gnarly driven tone was his Mesa amp with the gain slammed up. Biamping with another cleaner tone like you essentially do with the Helix. I think Cliff always had his wah pedal cocked in the heel position to give it that dark tone and to make it easier to go to the solo tone. You might give it a go in the future.
Agree, there more than one way to get around achieving these tones. I think using a Wah that way may muddy up the sound a bit, but you never know! Thank you 👊🏻
For this stuff I don't have to write anything. But , yes. R.I. P. CLIFFORD B. BURTON!! One of the greatist rock musician ever lived on Earth! Hell yeeeah!!?? YEEEEAH!!
Man your bass always sounds so damn good. Perfect volume with the original song in the background as usual for UA-cam enough to actually hear a bass . Wish all bands could crank up the volume on basses so you can clearly hear em like guitars. Thank gawd for tool and system of a down lol. Awesome Metallica cover🤘😁🤘
"Possibly the heaviest number known by man kind" ¡Tus tonos siempre son brutales! Ojalá hagas un video de Neomoira ¡es un temazo! Felicidades y saludos hermano 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Thank you for all of the content you produce. The latest trend in heavy music is to down tune and play 7 or 8 string guitars. I love that music too, but I think traditional metal needs the bass to be more prominent in the mix. Your videos are groovy af and sound great.
Que tal Kello, no sé si recibes peticiones pero, que tal Right in Two de Tool? Me parece un tema bastante interesante en el bajo (como todo lo de Chancellor la verdad) Me inspiras mucho a seguir dándole con el bajo!
Stupid cool work man, #respect. Cant tell are these 100% as original, but i assume its not the point. If it sounds cool, then its right enough. Rock on collague, take care.
You're like a younger, really Angry looking and sounding Leland Sklar ahaha... really nice sound !
Best bassist on youtube.

Tone from that Alembic is monstrous. Top class as always sir. I salute you 🤘
This has got to be one of Metallica's heaviest riffs, and you Kello just made it HEAVIER.
This was heavy enough to frighten away the KelloTV logo! :o)
Apparently it was!!!
This song has always been Under rated. Thanks, Nice work...
The bass guitar sound & riff was absolutely incredible.

Yeah yeah! (In James voice)
Wow, this is about as perfect as it gets.
Amazing cover! Although not a huge deal, Metallica themselves played it at D standard tuning, not dropped D tuning.
Andy Kromer playing it in drop D on bass is actually quite easier
Once again a top notch cover. You've been very prolific the past week. Bass sound is killer once again. Bravo man. Stay safe.
Excellent Kello, your tone kicks ass!!!!!!!

Kello, bad ass! Been learning by watching your bass cover for a while now. Thanks for all the metal teachings Bass Master
Thank you, I’m glad these videos help 👊🏻
Great cover as always, Kello! Can we expect more Pantera in the future? Something like Heresy or The Art Of Shredding would be awesome.
Awesome cover.
Bass sounds HEAVY!!
Totally fitting for one of H.P. Lovecrafts most famous stories.

What pedals or effects do i need to have this dirty sound?
Bass to Sansamp BDDI, then blend that with a Big Muff with mid gain just for added dirt and low end
@@kellogc Thank you very much, I love how you play and I really like your sound

Smooth. I am waiting for more Black Sabbath stuff, consider War Pigs please!
Adam Jagiełło I’d love to but licensing I’m UA-cam doesn’t allow Sabbath or Ozzy :(
@@kellogc really?? What a load of bullshit!
@@laspaginastatuadas Yes... That{s why my Perry Mason video is Bass Only. It wouldn't let me use the song.
@@laspaginastatuadas They are notorious for blocking content, especially Ozzy. Sharon has a horrible business reputation.
Muito bom... quais recursos você usa no bass... São analógicos ou é Amplitube e afins?
Right now I'm using a Line6 Helix
