Buddhism sounds really nice, though I wouldn't want to go through life not enjoying life's simple pleasures. Who wants to be a virgin forever? Not me. And I'm already a vegetarian.

Some might ask how does the magical rock mentioned comes by? Just to provide some context, this is the story that happened before Sun Wu Kong storyline. There were 2 gods, the fire god and the water god, that has the appearance of the half snake (lower body) and half man. The water god is evil, causing havoc (floods) to everywhere it went. The fire god wanted to prevent the water god from causing evil, so it battled the water god for a very long time. During the battle, many were destroyed and killed, affecting even the heaven itself. The sky could not withstand their destruction and broke up. Without a whole sky, a great apocalypse will bestow upon and completely annihilate the heaven and all realms. Foreseeing this possibility, a powerful mother goddess, NuWa decided to sacrifice herself and use the "5 color stone" to stop their battle and fix the sky. After the sky was fixed and the death of the goddess, the remaining fragments crashed down like meteors from the sky and one of them landed onto a mountain. This fragment is the magical rock mentioned. It has a great amount of holy energy within it. The rock was left undisturbed for many years (possibly hundreds or thousands of years), until the accumulation and cultivation of holy energy (absorption from surroundings) is too great and it creates a life within the rock. Thus Sun Wu Kong was born from the rock. Btw, Jade Emperor is the emperor of the heaven.
@@blacksage3653 I am not quite sure, I think the story is passed down as a legend/myth in China. The internet did say that story has a original text written in ancient chinese. The story before Sun Wu Kong's timeline is not as popular as the Journey to the West
Just saying, not true. That rock was just a powerful rock created from the beginning of universe, so basically, an infinity stone. You could argue the later violent, indestructible and capable of multiply himself, was basically Ultron with vibranium
When you mention the Jade Emperor you show a picture of Guan Yu. I know you probaably googled for a picture of the Jade Emperor and that image came up, but its definately Guan Yu. He not wearing his emperor regalia and he is holding a weapon. The emperor is never depicted holding a weapon.
Many many years ago around 45-50years to be exact tgere was a show on tv called " monkey magic". My sisters and I watched every day and loved each episode. I didn't know until today that the story was in Chinese mythology. Thank you for bringing back memories.
Fun Fact: Did you know the manga creator of the dragon ball franchise, Akira Toriyamma, creates Goku's character base off The Monkey King Sun Wukong from Journey to the West.
excellent work! I actually found a ps4 game in a shop recently called Monkey King (almost definitely based on the mythology) that had totally passed me by until then
I didn’t mind it the first time, but then he kept on using guan yu as the jade emperor. One mistake is fine, it happens. But repeatedly doing it is simply a lack of info and research.
Is a good analysis, but you got the story wrong at the last battle with the heaven, WuKong only reached to the gate of the palace. Buddha come on himself without being invite. because WuKong broke the heaven’s rules. Buddha punished him under the WuZhi mountain 500 years and waiting for Tong Dynasty’s monk -Tang Sanzang. After WuKong become an apprentice of Tang Sanzang. They went on to the journey to Western Heaven.
Truth be told, it's simply a popular character from Dungeons & Dragons equivalent Fantasy Literature created by Wu, Cheh-ng ehng 吳承恩 in 1600 A.D. It's not an official deity worship in Ancient Chinese. Hence, not a Mythology.
Sun Wu Kong and the Celestial beings may be legends but may contain truths of aliens, undersea civilisations and god like advanced technologies in the mists of time.
I just can’t believe how the Chinese people believed in a monkey god with powers.. as if some random monkey just popped up with all these abilities lmao 😂 Such fools tbh.. not to mention all these other random comic book gods 😂

Your description makes one ponder the story of Rahu and Ketu, which, as you know, figure in Jyotish
what is the original source/text of this story?

If the Jade Emperor were Guan Yu maybe he wouldn’t get his ass kicked so hard by the monkey king lol
Some emperors fight with there people in the battlefield

Did you know monkey king himself is inspired from Bajarangbali?
Fine narration. Pls make for the Chinese legendary hero Hou Yi as it is the least touched upon upon character from Chinese myth.
The movie Journey To The West has a great representation of him
Which one
Monkey king

Very cool!
@@RaconteurMythologyHistoryinfamous anime series dragon ball is based of journey to the west
it is a good narration. Could you make for Chinese myth character Hou Yi. This hero is hardly covered in detail by UA-cam channels
This is a super condensed telling of his story. For those interested this is lik 20% of his story. Def work looking into som wu kings full story
Fun fact: Zhū Bājié was the inspiration for Ganon from the Legend of Zelda series
