The only difference between the Chinese Qilin and the Japanese Kirin is that the Chinese Qilin has one or two horns, while the Japanese Kirin has only one horn. Interestingly, giraffes are called Kirin in Japan
In the anime Yashahime, a continuation of Inuyasha, the main antagonists were corruped Qilin daiyoukai (aka great 'demons') by the names of Zero and Kirinmaru. There was also a third one, the daughter of Kirinmaru, although she only existed in a spirit form inhabiting an artificial body.
