Just so people know, squats/deadlifts are more important still. Plyos raise the floor, while strength training raises the ceiling. Plyos train your legs to jump as high as possible but you need a strong base to really get high/prevent injuries. Both are super important so be sure to weightlift too
I started at 18 inches and raised to 21 in 2 weeks from powercleans alone. Should i continue doing those as much as i have or should i focus more on squats and deadlifts? I feel like cleans are really good at working on explosiveness which is why i do those to increase my vert
@@fuckingdumbo having a lack of strength in your legs and overusing them via plyos can strain them or give you jumpers knee (I personally got it after doing 2 straight weeks of pylos while doing there weights) both are super important
@@sfsaviation absolutely cleans are amazing, and also squats. I recommend watching Isaiah Rivera, who’s a pro dunker, he basically just dead lifted and squatted until he could dunk. Throw in some dunk sessions/pylos like this guy shows here and you’ll be getting that vertical up fast

Eventually after months i could and after about a month more i could hang on the rim and about one more month i could dunk. i only gained about 1” height that summer so it’s no height difference i just increased my vertical by about 10-12” over the summer by just jumping

I can grab rim, I just turned 15 but I always get rim checked when I try to dunk, I’m 6ft tall and basketball started 4 weeks ago so that’s the only reason I’m back in shape 😂, hopefully this summer I’ll get it

The plyos wouldn’t have worked if you didn’t build the base with weight training first. Squats alone won’t give you a big vert but neither will plyometrics. It goes both ways
I’m 5’7” , never did any type of training or exercise, just played serious ball daily and after about 4-5 months I was finally able to jam but definitely training will get you there, got buddies 5’4” that can jam

I increased my max squat by 130 pounds and became much stronger and had zero increase on my vertical.
Strength doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in explosiveness, and it sounds like you put on quite a bit of muscle too so you were probably heavier.
