Just so people know, squats/deadlifts are more important still. Plyos raise the floor, while strength training raises the ceiling. Plyos train your legs to jump as high as possible but you need a strong base to really get high/prevent injuries. Both are super important so be sure to weightlift too

I started at 18 inches and raised to 21 in 2 weeks from powercleans alone. Should i continue doing those as much as i have or should i focus more on squats and deadlifts? I feel like cleans are really good at working on explosiveness which is why i do those to increase my vert

    • @wubblyjubbly

@@fuckingdumbo having a lack of strength in your legs and overusing them via plyos can strain them or give you jumpers knee (I personally got it after doing 2 straight weeks of pylos while doing there weights) both are super important

@@sfsaviation absolutely cleans are amazing, and also squats. I recommend watching Isaiah Rivera, who’s a pro dunker, he basically just dead lifted and squatted until he could dunk. Throw in some dunk sessions/pylos like this guy shows here and you’ll be getting that vertical up fast

@@deronquaravioustheiv6873 But this person has done it 7 times, that should be enough for others to acknowledge the fact that the person can dunk, and it’s not luck. Sure, some could be luck, but saying it has to be every time is kinda ridiculous as well as rude. The person clearly can do it, yet no one acknowledges this. It’s like if you learned how to do a soccer ball trick that’s kinda hard, and you’ve done it a few times, yet no one appreciates/acknowledges it because they expect you to ace it every time for them to acknowledge the fact that you learned it and can do it

i’ve always been good at jumping but during the last summer i was about 5’5 and started by touching the backboard i went outside to shoot and jump as high as i can to try to touch the rim. Eventually after months i could and after about a month more i could hang on the rim and about one more month i could dunk. i only gained about 1” height that summer so it’s no height difference i just increased my vertical by about 10-12” over the summer by just jumping

Weight training squats front squats especially build pure strength Olympic lift like cleans and snatches for explosive fast twitch muscled plyometrics remember strapping a book bag full of weights and a pair of strength shoes jumping and touching the rim. Also explosive med ball training it’s like upper body plyometrics helps build the explosive fast twitch muscles in the core of the body the core contributes to how high you jump.
