    To all the comments saying Wilt Chamberlain had a 48 inch vertical. This was never actually recorded or proven. Wilt said in an interview that in his prime his vertical jump was at least 46-48 inches. Because it's only speculation we chose to leave him off of this list.

      That man was a high jumper. He was a sprinter and threw the shot put. Yall just don't realize how ridiculously athletic he was. We are talking about a 7'1. 275 lbs man with the strength of Shaq and the vertical of Zion. The speed of LeBron...Oh yea remind me who played the most minutes per game? His stamina was better than any of these athletes.

      @@united_states512 If you're replying to me, those guys aren't as goid athletes as Wilt. As the guy said, he could run really fast, almost like most guards, 7'1" with I think 7'8" wing spam, vert higher than Jordan, the guy said Wilt broke his toe when Wilt Chamberlain blocked his shot and the ball hit his toe, he dislocated a mens shoulder with the block, it's all confirmed by NBA players who played in his era, you couldn't guard him same twice, and even if you try to guard him, he would crush you.

    I started to follow MJ since his first come back. For me, MJ is the fadeaway machine with extreme competitiveness and fundamental skills. I knew his ability to drive both on the court and in the air as one of top players in the era. Even, physicality has been the best ever. Truly amazing.

      MJ has everything. He has the talent, the athleticism, the height, the skills, the smoothness, the fundamentals, the shooting touch. Add on to his hardwork, competitiveness, firepower, leadership, confidence and want to be the very best, thats why hes the GOAT. All these peasants who only have talent, but doesnt want to work hard and starts eating junk food aint nothing to MJ. MJ can jump 49 inches and still wants to shoot 1500 shots in practice.

    It's amazing how our understanding of MJ has changed, we always knew he was a freak athlete and talented but now I think of him as 90% fundamentals. Look at all those other guys and how they couldn't hold his jock despite a similar ability to leap. Explains the greatness of Larry Bird as well. Leaping ability is fantastic, it's just not required to be elite to be an elite player.

    • @Elthenar
      @Elthenar 2 роки тому +2

      Agreed. Big time leaping is a hell of a tool to have but you have to be able to play the game first. You need to be able to understand how the plays are developing on both ends of the court. You need to know how and where to move with or without the ball. You need some go to moves and some countermoves for when they commit to stopping your primary stuff.
      Like Skyline said, Larry Bird had the vertical leap of a sumo wrestler and he'd kill most of the guys on this list.

    *Bill Kazmaier, Mark Henry, Brian Shaw, Zydrunas Savickas* and others. Look at how massive these guys were in terms of weight per inch of height. There is 0% chance that Wilt could bench press 600 pounds just like there is 0 chance he had a 48 inch vertical.

      1-foot dunkers can get up insanely high but have a lesser vertical since it is often measured off a 2-foot stop. Though I agree there are some great 2-foot jumpers on your list.

    I always wanted to know my vertical, I’m 5 foot nine but could grab a rim and nearly nearly dunk, I mean razor thin margin.
    So I know mine has to be over 35 or 36 inches based on my height in my hand arm length but I’ve always wanted to know.
    But if I had to choose jumping or speed, I’m glad I got the speed. 4.39 was my best time. Usually 4.4-4.43. Miss those days. Lol

      You definitely had athletic gifts that I'm envious of. I'm 5'10" (or I was when I was young - probably shrunk an inch by now) and could barely touch the bottom of the net. I ran a 5.2 40 in football. But I didn't let that very average talent keep me from playing sports in high school. It was a great experience!

      @@mediamannaman Yeah high school and below it was like playing against a regular team when you were in an All-Star team, but once I got to college I started seeing people that were as fast or faster, stronger and could jump higher.
