i don't want this song to get famous. let it be known among a small circle of people who truly appreciate this masterpiece.
💯
Here in 2024 ❤
2024 and beyond, one of my favourite songs ever.
i moved on to spiritbox, but man. this is still my all time fav
How this music video didn’t win a ton of awards is RIDICULOUS!
i know this song is old, but it seems quite underrated and i think it needs more recognition, its such an amazing track.
I wish they'd played it live.
So True
@@beachgirl4583 ua-cam.com/video/VSJ9N-aCUOE/v-deo.html Sorry to necro, but just read this and it's so good live.
Totally agree
Love it 🤘🤘🤘
Most underrated Halestorm song IMO
Brings me back to where I was when this came out ...oh but that familiar taste of poi son
it reminds me of the girl that killed me, listen to this back to back with "half god half devil" from in this moment
Yes
Yes this one and What Sober Couldn’t Say. 🥰
Who’s here watching in 2023?
me, directly from Brazil ❤
Me 😊
Me. Masterpiece
Watch this Live in 2023 at Wembley.
Me from UK
Who else will never emotionally recover from this video and song
Anyone else think this music video tells a better story than some of today's tv shows and movies ?
+DarkVampire Equestrian atleast most of them, you could propably make a movie out of this video clip.
yes bro!
+DarkVampire Equestrian Totally! I agree with my all! It's such an awesome piece of work, plus the song entirely is great and well matched with the video.
i could never fit the song into better theater. Although I have great imagination, this video gave me the heebeegeebees. The song itself touched me to the bones.
I do
I need to share a touching story about this video.
I was visiting with my daughter and granddaughters a while back. I was watching this video on my phone for the umpteenth time. One of my granddaughters (4 at the time) was having nightmares nearly every night. She has an interest in dark things, future metal head maybe? She asked to watch the video that grandpa was watching. I explained to her that it is a really sad song. So we watched it together. She asked lots of questions about the blood and why the pretty lady was floating in the water. So I explained to her that the lady's bad husband poisoned her lipstick and she died. The police found out and they put him in jail.
She was so sad that the lady died. I explained that it was just a song and the lady was named Lzzy and was just pretending in order to tell the story. I then showed her Shatter Me that was made after this song. A few months later, she took up the violin, met Lindsey Stirling and got her violin signed. Awesome!
Now every time I visit one of the first things she does is ask me if she can watch "The Sad Song" followed by Shatter Me of course.
Best part is she now knows the bad dreams she was having were pretend too and she stopped having nightmares every night.
Thank you Lzzy for changing the life of a little girl that knows she is not weird or strange for liking dark things.
What a great story! Congrats, always good more freaks in this world *-*
Mike Whitenton Good that you recognize she has a dark side and instead of hate her or scorn her you embrace it wish my family had been half as understanding as you growing up. I was treated like the anti christ from day 1 to today on my dads side. Pretty much disowned them all now lost half my family simply because they cannot accept I have different beliefs and I have a dark side, doesn't mean I'm a sick twisted evil bastard. But try telling them that, like so many other ppl I know they judge by nothing but appearance. Good for you man she will always feel better having you in her life that's a very sweet story.
Mike Whitenton That is a wonderful story! Not all things in the darkness are scary, I know. ;-) .
Mike Whitenton I've read this story multiple times -- every time I watch this video, in fact -- and it still has me feeling some kind of way. Lzzy is truly a role model for the ages, and your granddaughter is DEFINITELY on the right track!
+Daniel Carson I know how you feel. My mom is ALWAYS making passive-aggressive comments about how I dress, what I listen to, and especially my art. Basically all of me. I belong in the shadows, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person, and it doesn't mean you're a bad person either. You're right, people do judge. But eventually we can all find someone who accepts every piece of us, just as we are
the director of this video deserves an oscar
"i could fight this till the end
but maybe i dont wanna win"
One of the most beautifully written songs by Halestorm! Lazy Hale has such a beautiful voice. Halestorm rocks!
Lzzy not lazy
@@rebeccaengleman3499 SU
😂
Love the Film Noir feel of this video.
Shinedown and Halestorm should make music together. intense, deep, thought provoking, beautiful vocals, haunting voices and sound. that would be amazing....
I agree
My favorite lyrics in this song are "I don't wanna be saved, I don't wanna be sober, I want you on my mind" and also "I could fight this till the end but maybe I don't wanna win". So powerful and relatable in that we have all loved someone that we knew wasn't good for us but we stayed anyway. Just an incredible and deep song!!
gives me chills every time. and i have listened to it 1000 times atleast.
The most powerfull lyric in this song for me must be ....
"I could fight this till the end, but maybe I don`t wanna win? "
.......
my favorite line
to me, its the whole second verse....speaks volumes
This lyric is really close to snuff. It took the death of hope to let you go...
It's the chorus lyrics for me. Brilliant.
you need to use that director again because that is awesome
video is awesome, song is awesome, she is awesome... I know I am using "awesome" a lot... but I can't help myself :-)
Awesome :)
Awesomesauce
So true! This was awesome to watch while listening to her.
awesome awesome awesome
Her melody changing changing tone without breathing in between has me blown away. Never heard that before
"I breathe you in again, just to feel you... underneath my skin" 😭
"Drink the wine, my darling" you said
"Take your time, and consume all of it"
But the roses
Were only to drain my inspiration
The promises
Were spoiled before they left your lips and
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste
Of poison
I tell myself
That you're no good for me
I wish you well (wish you well)
But desire never leaves
I could fight this 'til the end
But maybe I don't wanna win
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste of poison
I don't wanna be saved
I don't wanna be sober
I want you on my mind
In my dreams
Behind these eyes
And I won't wake up
No, not this time
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste of poison
A familiar taste of poison
A familiar taste
Of poison
Thanks so much 😊
God damn it, It's always the Bassist!!!!
Our lesson: Never trust the bassist...
KleineElfOpEenRegenboog you have no idea how much I just had a good laugh over that hahahaha
ehm... thanksd, I guess Leamond Wells
always us ............. lol
he lays the floor, but its the guitarist and the vocals that send shivers down your spine
Ive lost count of how many times Ive replayed this song.
Literal eargasm
I especially love that last shot where it looks like her lipstick is bleeding. It's so tragically beautiful.
I love her l think she is so beautiful she makes me think of a gothic mermaid in the water
Still here in 2024 halestorm will never get old, so underrated bring back so many memories!❤️
"I could fight this to the end , but maybe I don't wanna win...." I think we all feel this way sometimes. 😢
I'll always remember seeing this song on the Jimmy Fallon show.
I can feel her in my soul. She gives me hope that I can get clean before it takes my life …
Hell yeah you can!
I still listening in 2024.
Greetings from me to all people of good will ... and good taste of music.
This is a bloody masterpiece. The song, the video, the acting, the plot - it's all perfect.
Came here after almost 10 years, I felt like i was 16 years old again. My god , how could I forget about this song?!! I love u guys 💓💓
I love the glamour and film noir references to the 30's and 40's. She nails it as she and her band does on everything
Couldn't you see Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in a movie with this plot?
@@michaelshaff4095 Yes I could now that you mention it!
just found out about this band like 20 minutes ago, already a fan
Same!!!!
Halestorm does that, You will be hooked after the 1st song of theirs that you hear.
Wow they been around forever 14 her brother(drums) 9 when they first played at a festival in philly they came up w name of band on the way there. Glad u found them. Check out shattered its lzzy singing w lindsey stirling playn violin w dubstep so cool
same!!!!
Ricky Chan glad all you found them been around long time got to listen to mayhem
Best rock female artist, in decades.
Idk about that. Maria Brink is pretty good. So is Amy Lee. Lita Ford.
I have a poem that has a similar message to this song. But instead of using poison I use fire. No matter how enticing it may seem, how beautiful it is, it always has an allure to it. And it always burns. The imagery of this song speaks to me for this reason. Stay thirsty, my friends.
2023 and this still sets my soul on f&cking fire!!
Lizzy takes her beautiful voice to another level with this one. Philly gal keeps raising the bar.. 😘
Dam, she is something special!
Or someone? O_o
To hear this song in concert is amazing 🤩, the lights were turned off, and then she sang the best song ever!!!
A creative artist!! Not only emotionally moving songs but a great storyteller with her video storytelling. True sign of gifted artist.
i love how alluring and ominous she sounds in this song! this has to be my favorite halestorm song yet!
Agreed, except I think this is Halestorm doing an Evanescence song, and Lzzy doing an awesome tribute to her BFF Amy Lee.
Mark Stockman no this one halestorm song but it was most likely influenced
by Amy lee
You can obviously tell it is inspired by evanescence by the way she's underwater.
Amy lee did that similar effect in her video/song "going under."
Angelina Cucchi you need to see the video for that? the vibe of the music itself is alrdy sceaming evanescence
Angelina Cucchi uhmm actually dave mustaine it did it first on the clip of go to hell
I don't think I'll ever get sick of this song.
I need a poison to put a gentle end like this song. Wine is not enough to do it. Lizzy is an awesome vocalist and Halestorm are a fucking awesome band.
I have not words, this song has so much passion, it takes my breathe away.I have been there.
I must admit, putting poison on the lipstick rather than the food was rather smart.
Such a shame he completely forgot that poison is typically very easy to trace in the body.
A shame?
depends on what the poison is, you take a a certain flower grind the bulb up feed it to a person as it's not traceable. It's a common flower too.
@@phantomblade89 Nightshade?
@ No it's not nightshade and I'm not going to tell you as I don't want you going around poisoning people
You don't even need to do poison just do contradicting foods that create poison after being digested. You could easily act unaware of what happened.
Lzzy is an amazing singer, seriously mind blowing how great of a female metal singer she is. But, she can still hit high notes. You don't see great bands like these anymore. Miss you guys!
True :x
sbon matin
And don’t forget gorgeous to boot
It would so beautiful that the leading detective knew her before and cared deeply for her which is why he took this case to heart >////>
One of the rare occasions where the live version sounds even better. You can feel the passion in her voice.
both versions are great
When the bass kicks in...chills
I love Halestorm wish they could make more music soft and slow like this. this song just gives me chills going down my spine I love it.
Each Time i hear this song, I still get shivers down my back
2020, Im, still here!!!
She should do a collaboration with Evanescence.
She has before. It was beautiful.
evanescence should indeed remain evanescent
they were okay for the first few months and now they're just ugh
Woah sorry. I didn't realize anyone commented on this :I
These days, this kind of song goes more with We Are The Fallen. "Evanescence" is now Amy Lee and a new band. Ben M and the rest of the old band picked up Carly Smithson for WATF and they sound much more like the original Evanescence.
***** you obviously do not listen to both these bands often.they do not sound alike.i have seen both of them in concert
Lzzy Hale is our generation's Joan Jett.
Watch the video for uncomfortable she even looks like Joan Jett
Huh. Joan Jett? 100 times better. Get with it. Joan Jett could never match up
EXACTLY!!!
She is bettter than Joan Jett
@@chrishard9801 different, not necessarily better, back in the day Joan Jett was awesome, now so is Lizzy
Always coming back to this...since 2009.
this should be a movie.
It is actually inspired by the 40s movie named Laura
Amaretto Punsch,
I love that film. Gene Tierney was stunning. I’m not a Dana Andrews fan, but he was good in the film. The whole cast did a great job, Clifton Webb and Vincent Price in particular.
Leave Her To Heaven shows a different side of Tierney’s acting skills.
I wish Halestorm would make more storybased videos like this...not some stupid video about them rocking out on stage x.x
Has to be one of the most powerful ballad I have ever heard
Lzzy's vocals are particularly incredible in this song
As a survivor of DV with a failed attempt from him to poison me. I definitely can relate. My cat alerted me as I felt my heart beating erratically too. Thanks to God and Alka Seltzer I'm alive today
I'm slowly working through the Halestorm videos on you tube. I'm say slow because they are amazing and I just need to watch the videos over and over again. This song is one of the best rock songs I've ever heard
When I first watched this i was only a casual fan, it’s been years and now I’m hardcore obsessed and find it so hilarious that josh played the role of the killer given his chill personality irl lolllll
I remember seeing this video on TV while doing a school project and I just thought it was one of the most beautiful songs and videos ever.
This song is so underrated
I lost the love of my life five years ago. This song speaks to me like no other. I breathe you in, again, just to feel you.
It's always so strangely beautiful to hear singers who scream the lyrics to songs like "Freak Like Me" and "Daughters of Darkness" singing mellow, slow, and haunting melodies like this song. Well done Lizzy. I think this may be my favorite track on your album.
Everyone here comparing her to Amy, while I love both, Liz has her own style. They both beautiful ladies with great voices and talent.
Yes I agreed both are beautiful.... But if you watch "going under" and "sober" by evenesence the videos have very similar scenes ... Which means she's taken inspiration from Amy Lee ..... Let's say I'm impressed 😋😃😄
Is it sweet sacrifice or sober.... Not sure maybe I need to get sober .... GOING UNDER!
I agree completely
Agreed except Lzzy is much better in the vocal department.
Woaw. Damn Lzzy looks too good in that red dress
Hands down my favourite Halestorm song
Anyone ever realize how much this describes what goes through a woman's heart and mind in a toxic relationship?
Driving home yesterday I bawled to this song. This hit me so hard due to a toxic breakup. The abuse my ex narcissist put me through. It's torment
THE GREAT SONG ... THE GREAT VOICE OF METAL ..THE GREAT BAND ..
TOP MUSIC ..🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Who's still listening to this in 2k17? This girl right here.. Love Halestorm! Lzzy rocks!🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼😍💋💋💋
Desiree Thibodeaux 2018
I lost a girl a while back and the term " breath you in " hits hard
Still one of my favorite videos from Halestorm...!!
Almost 2024, and still here
I wish she would sing more songs like this! Her voice is amazing!
The lyrics in this really gets to me, really describes my problem with alcohol! And lzzys vocals vibrates into my bones. Such a talented and awesome band
Cigarettes for me
Heck, I never interpreted the song that way. It just so happens that my whiskey ran out last night. Today has been a struggle! I didn't realize that it had such a hold on me.
She does a great job of capturing the era and storyline... love this band
This is my favorite song by halestorm I love the build up!
Hands down.. the best female rock singer today!
8 years later YES!!!!!
I am a fan of both Evanescence and Halestorm and I observed the similarity in 2:50 when Lzzy says "this time". It is the same with Amy in Lithium 😍😍
Lzzy runs circles around Amy.
Her smirk @1:23 is so awesome. Haunting really.
This would be an awesome theme song to the next James Bond movie...
My first thought when I heard this song was "How has this not been a Bond theme yet?"
This is the song I belt in the car every single gle time I'm alone. 100%
Maladaptive daydreaming + countless villain obsessions = getting called out by a beautifully dark song about fatal attraction...
I love the pre-scream louder than the last scream Halestorm. Lzzy Hale has such a beautiful voice.
Wow! What a beautiful voice...cool song!
I've been aware of this band for a while but never given them any airtime. Now that I have, I'm slightly obsessed.
Lzzy looks like she could finally be the rock icon that this century has been looking for
Amy Lee? She is awesome and in Synthesis, she sounds like a Godlike Angel...
the story line to this song is so brilliantly put together, I mean who would ever think of putting poison in lipstick? not me!
She is a great Vocalist.
She says the first three poisons at perfect squares: 11^2 = 1:21 15^2 = 2:25 18^2 = 3:24. And her last poison is said at 216 seconds. 216 seconds = 6*6*6. 3:36
Holy shit..
HOLY SHIT ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED
Rodney Leon omfg
How did you even..?
Bruh.
One of the most underrated songs of our era
I have been wondering since I heard it, why it didn't get mainstream popular.
Άμα θες να κόψεις λίγο φλέβα καλό είναι
I haven't watched this one for quite a while. Makes me remember how talented this band is.
This song has a real "James Bond movie theme" feel to it.
You know what?, You're right!
+Jully Jay yeees
reminds me of adeles skyfall for that movie.
PJBxx James Bond Theme or like a women Bond theme like this story bout a man who never knew his wife was dead she died on a mission she was a secret agent and the agency found someone who looked like her and they taught her how to act just like her so her husband and her kids wouldn't never find out the Truth but people around him would slip up and say things that would like trigger things in his mind like made him get a little suspicious then well might just have to wait to read or see it to find out more but also Like you know no one ever thought bout it like maybe in the music video for this song maybe someone or her husband was trying to save her and that familiar taste of poison was from some mixture or combination of some antidote or someone trying to find a cure for her condition or the State or stage of a unseen disease inside her body then like from thinking bout a Genetic altering vial that could be a cure might make someone be thinking bout some shit like a Dr Jeckly Mr Hyde like that Misses Hyde song like people probably listen and watch this video and think it was done intentionally
The music, or the video?
That was THE coolest video I have seen since November Rain! Bravo Halestorm, FUCK...I LOVE THIS BAND!!!
ikr!
Yep.Gotta love the STORM
this relates to November rain in the sense that its both soft and powerful. although November rain is considered the musical demonstration of Gn'R breaking up. Hopefully Halestorm wont have to demonstrate a break up. all in all I agree with your comment. "Fuck I Love This Band" ;) but Guns N' Roses is my all time favorite!! (the old one ;) )
I'm with ya on all of that! I love GnR and Halestorm regenerized my love for music. May they NEVER break up!!! They are amazing!
I'm a big fan of Evanescence myself! but growing up in the 80's I have a strong affection for bands of that era and Halestorm seems to pay homage to them in A LOT of their music ie; why I love them sooo much!!! LOL
This videoclip made me remember a sad reality about us women
Ikr???
this track just ain't f long enuff.... wish it went on for ever dayumm....
This song and video give me a sensation I can not describe
Still listening in 2022, such a beautiful and dark song, gives me chills everytime I listen to it !
