Because everything they did was standard business practice for the real estate industry. Companies always estimate their asset values optimistically, banks estimate the value lower, both parties negotiate and they come to an agreement. It's the same as haggling with a used car salesman. They go high, you go low, and you try to make a deal. In the end, the banks made money, so I'm sure they would make the deal again.

Banks appraisers do independent inspections of a property so it doesn’t matter how trumps side of the deal represents the property. If they say a 10 foot room is 30 feet it would not affect the bank appraisal.
