They need to be looking into his taxes. You can’t pay taxes on a property claimed to be worth $18 million then turn around and state it’s worth 1.5 billion when you go to apply for loans. Value his property at 1.5 billion and force him to pay taxes on that value.
In all fairness, you do not pay real estate taxes on what you claim your property is worth. You pay on what the local assessor says it is worth. Trump apparently gets a reduced rate as part of some kind of land use deal having to do with environmental regulations and covenants that the property is barred from certain uses. If you don't think Trump pays enough in local property taxes, you need to take it up with the locality where Mar-A-Lago is located.
That was one of the primary reasons he was the 1st president to knowingly withhold sharing his tax returns when requested as a general action.
There is an ongoing IRS audit that isn’t often discussed. Trump could be on the hook for $100 million in unpaid taxes and fines And you know that the IRS doesn’t wait in line to get paid.

An attorney in California for instance on CBS or Fox may not be licensed in NY or entirely familiar with NY State laws and civil (or criminal) procedures.
She did explain some of his grounds--mainly the size of the judgment and the fact that it's scaring the "real estate community" in NY. She came across as a shill for big money, but she still could be a predictor for how the appeals courts will view the case.
