Interesting, I just demo’d the neonic flow and it definitely had more pop and put away power than my pro line energy S. I also think the differences in control with these is very relevant. Thanks for the review!
Comparison of paddles is great. And I enjoyed looking at your game play too. Also, I loved your 2 handed back hand shots...Teach me too please. Would love to see a step wise sequence of 2 handed...
Great video! Hybrid is definitely a category that deserves to be focused on. Aside from power and pop, I’d like some insight into durability especially for the core material. I’ve gone through 2 thermoformed paddles (vatic v7) in about 4-6 months each. They both have the crinkling sound (core crushed) when pressing on the face. Durability is more difficult to quantify, but maybe a survey of how long a paddle lasts would be a good first step.
Definitely, would love to be able to quantify this and I think the general guideline is no more than 5-6 months of use before the cores break down in the paddle but agreed that this is hard to test for every single one of these. All of the companies will tell you that they have some new fix that solves the issue but in my experience they all are still breaking and there is no complete solution yet
@@TickleMyPickleball yeah, it’s disappointing that we can only expect 6 months of use with these paddles, especially when they can cost over $200. I’m more inclined to opt for cheaper paddles since they all seem to have Toray T700 raw carbon fiber with thermoforming and foam injected edges. The differences are starting to become negligible with spin (all in the 1900-2100 rpm range) and power. If someone could come up with a stronger core that won’t crush, that would be a real game changer.
Yea IMO the spin difference between these paddles is a bit negligible and these more affordable options are doing just as well durability wise so definitely a smart option to stick with these more affordable brands
It's low near the bottom for pop, around the Apes and Centric. For power it's a little under the middle, the longer handle helps give it a bit more drive power
Really well done comparison video. Excellent use of the comparison tables. I can't agree that the B&B Loco has more power than the Vatic Pro Flash. I found the former to be a fairly soft and meh paddle. I would also say that the power of the Flash is similar and even higher than the DBD. Agree that the Flash is a pretty poppy paddle, more so than the DBD.
Thank you! And yes one thing to remember is that this list of mine may not match someone else's because of the manufacturing variances that exist. Power is also going to somewhat be affected by swingweight and overall weight so having a lighter model of a particular paddle may affect the results
Have you hit the J2k from Honolulu PB? If so, how would you rate control / stiffness of face relative to say the DBD or M1 Forza? I prefer a softer paddle face. Thanks and keep up the great work.
I have played with the Double Black Diamond 16mm for about a year. But recently started playing with Joola hyperion C2. I find the C2 is a far better paddle. But i wonder why i have not seen anyone put it in their "top paddles" or even mentioned. Kinda interested if anyone else has played with the hyperion C2
Currently working on a video for it now. It's a solid paddle but just not worth the price. Right now I think the Triple J Judah performs just as well for less than half the cost
Thank you for not fixating on Twist Weight as many other reviewers are. It's a reasonable statistic that measures what it does, but gaming twist weight doesn't necessarily make the best feeling paddle. In particular, I disagree with the default advice to lead tape the bottom corners.
I’m a new player and bought a Neonic Flow, which has been a great paddle for me. I tried adding 3g of weight to the 4:00 and 8:00 positions like many UA-camrs act like is the invention of sliced bread, and wow did the paddle feel terrible after adding the weight. I thought about it more afterwards, and if adding such weight is so great, why wouldn’t the paddle manufacturers have already added it?
I play with the DBD 16mm. I love the maneuverability and balanced feel of the paddle. I know it's a different shape, but do you think the Ronbus FX R2 is as maneuverable as the DBD? I've heard some people say that the FX R2 feels head heavy, which I don't like. Thanks and great review!
@@TickleMyPickleball Friday’s Challenger paddles have RCF faces w elongated shape and pretty affordable at $89 or 2/$159. Would love your thoughts on them if you get a chance as Friday claims they’re balanced all around for power, spin and control
Could be the one I received. Like I mentioned, paddle manufacturing variance is something that can cause different opinions, especially if you end up with a lighter one compared to everyone else
Thanks for the comparison. I tend to focus more on control and sweet spot size so this video wasn’t for me, but I still found it interesting. For your future videos I’d recommend saying “between” when you’re comparing 2 paddles and “among” when you have more than 2. It’s just more correcter that way 😮.

Very useful comparison .. my favorite so far !

Can you check out the Hurricane 2 line?

9:21 guy on the right had to have played badminton. Man jumping for these overheads are insane.
Volleyball actually!
Great comparison, I was completely tickles by the end
Another great content and comparison, where do you rank the Mark One X for both Power and Pop
It's low near the bottom for pop, around the Apes and Centric. For power it's a little under the middle, the longer handle helps give it a bit more drive power
If you would have to choose only one out of this list for yourself, which would be that one?
Aiso Centric. Neonic Flow would be a close 2nd

May I ask if CRBN 3x 16mm considered while making this list? If yes, what pros/cons do you have for this paddle?
Nvm just released this is a hybrid list.

Im so confused how the ball came back to you at 1:53 on that overhead....
I hit the edge guard on that shot so it didn't have full power

The R2 is a bit slower for a standard shape paddle but it's about the same swingweight wise compared to the hybrid shaped DBD
Hi, does the J2kpro have more power then the Black Diamond power?
Only hit it briefly but they feel about the same to me
Have you played with Pikkl’s vantage pro paddle yet?
Nope I don't have any plans to try those as of right now
What are thoughts on the J2K
Haven't hit them unfortunately. I reached out to HPC but haven't received any updates
Have you ever played with the new Friday paddles? People seem to love them and the price is crazy low.
I've heard about them, I hear they are solid paddles for the price but they do have paint grit which is less durable than RCF.

Wonder where triple j Judah would stack up here?
The Judah is 16.5 so unfortunately couldn't make it to the list
Tickle my Pickle may have the best game of all the reviewers….just sayin..😂
Where does the gearbox PPE fit in this list for you?
Not a hybrid paddle but it has more power and pop than all the paddles here
i think you missed it on the neonic flow. i agree with other reviewers who rank it more middle of the pack

Not sure how to use this comparison as it seems mainly subjective. But excellent gameplay footage 👏
these are all basically the same paddles, but very useful because it's his personal take..

It's all FEEL/THINK review subjective customer experience, without any metrics or data analysis to back it up.
so if you have all the data, you just choose what you want without someone's 1st hand experience? doubt it..
