This is the first instructional video I found to transfer pictures from my phone to a USB using the Data Cable that is easy to follow. My only problem is in files my USB is not showing up. I can only assume the USB that I have is not a good one.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Explained in a way that's understandable. My phone is so full it's giving me issues and I don't want to lose my pictures. If its full, does that mean I won't be able to create a new folder with some pics on it? I realize I will have to do this like 10 at a time. I'm just afraid of losing my pics.
Any photos you haven’t bothered to look at in the past year…..delete them for good. You won’t miss them.

Trying to get the images off my phone using my laptop and imports, left everything connected, plugged in, open and even charging all night and it still didn't work! After multiple attempts! It says I don't have enough iCloud storage, which I am trying to open up by getting the photos OFF, but apple wants me to buy more storage space first... it has gotten me so frustrated! So thank you very much for making this helpful video. :) Going to try it today!
There is the exact same thing you can use SD cards especially if you happen to have some large SD cards laying around that you use in your camcorder or DSLR camera. I have one that handles regular SD as well as micro and also has the charge pass through I got on Amazon
Would it still carry a load of bytes if you store the photos in the file on your phone? Or it is just a purpose of showing files in the usb?

Great tutorial, but what do you do if the photos are not downloading? I went through all the steps and I had a few that downloaded but the rest of the photos are stuck in download. Any recommendations?
This method did not work with my iPhone 11. It worked on the iPad Pro and an iPhone SE. Please reply to this if you know why the iPhone 11 Files app could not see the USB drive. Thanks!

This is a great video. My iPhone recognizes the flash drive and shows me the content but they are grayed out, like I cannot do anything with them. When I try to save an image to the same flash drive, it doesn't let me, Save button is grayed out. I am assuming this is due to the NTFS file format, I think it needs to be FAT32. I could test this but don't want to format the flash drive since I have large video files in it which FAT32 doesn't support.
Does the copy pasting changes the format form Heif to jpg or the format remains unchanged?
Does the date of the photo when it was taken gets saved with it as well??
as soon as i go to the flash drive my save button turns from blue to grey, i can see the folder ive created on the flash drive but it wont let me save anything to it? any ideas why it wont let me save files on the drive? thanks Gee
Well, the video was good but the device transfers the images in a HEIC format which requires a download to view. I just want to plug the usb in and look at the jpeg images. Is there a way to change this?

1. if yes, how can you move photos from USB to your phone, via the same cable?
2. Everytime I put files like photos or videos from my phone to USB, it always doubles the files. I then have two files on my usb of the same photo for example. Why is this happening?

1. Just copy and paste the photos to the files app on your iPhone, and then you can transfer the photos and videos to the Photos app.
2. I suspect you have enabled raw photos on your iPhone and hence when you copy, it's copying both Veroh and a JPEG version of the photo. I could be wrong
Okay so i did everything as in the video and everything was going well but after a while of transferring, my usb wasn’t showing in my files although it was connected. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!
i have an iPhone and a usb adaptatorn but when I connect it to my phone nothing appears on my files, why is that ? (the problem isn't coming from the usb nor the adaptor because when the usb gets connected to my phone through the adaptor it produces a red light showing that its working)
