No one talks about Backbone Bourbon Uncut. It's full flavored, rich, and proofy. It's so viscus it leaves a film in your glass at the end of the night. It's great stuff.
WT 101 is the best value in Bourbon…ok maybe OGD 114… uh maybe Early Times BIB.. ok darn it I really like Eagle Rare..there are a lot of decently priced juices that don’t require the stupid money some ask for the same grains in different mix’s in oak barrels…why, why, why! Great show folks!
With the whole WhiskyTube thing and general access to so much online information, it’s really hard to think of “underrated” bourbons. Typically, there’s chatter about most things that are half-way decent. My pick would go for Calumet 16…certainly underrated in some parts. 😂 That never gets old…🤣
@@JonBlankman At Liquor Barn in KY, it's $26. Next time my buddy goes down there to visit his brother, I'm going to have him stop and get me a few, plus a couple Cooper's Craft 100s which are not available in IL.
Ammunition Bourbon is one I enjoy a lot. Maybe unknown, maybe underrated. It’s sourced bourbon finished on Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. Very enjoyable.
If it were still available outside of Kentucky, I'd say that Evan Williams Single Barrel was considerably underappreciated, but now that its been cut back on and everybody emptied the shelves, I guess not so much any more. Honestly, the one that popped into my head right away was good old Maker's Mark ... with all my current concentration on the store picks and barrel proofs, etc out there, when I get back around to using it for something, I am always struck by the consistent flavor and nose.
I like the Balcones Pot Still. The full mouth feel and the hint of cherry cola (Dr. Pepper?) is very satisfying. I see it in a few stores but rarely in bars around town.
I'm just impressed that you made it over 13 minutes without taking a sip off your glasses! Under rated for me, if I had to pick one, would be Michter's American Whiskey. Yeah, it's low proof and kinda pricey (and oh yeah... technically not a bourbon, but only because it's aged in used barrels). But holy cow - those flavors are off the charts. I buy a few bottles a year, but they only last maybe two weeks on my shelf. So crushable! Cheers 🥃
Great topic! And great points. To me it’s Jack Daniels Sib Select, specifically the private barrel picks. Always tasty and a step above the off-the-shelf ones. These are always ignored as everyone only buys the barrel proof.
I do like Bardstown - I feel like I’ve passed them up mostly because of price but their new origin series is killing it and I think they are going to be hard to get here soon.
Nicholson reserve!!!!!! - I finally found a bottle in NC last month for $32 (when I was visiting my son) and I LOVE this bourbon! It has not lost a blind head-to-head for me yet. I heard it should be 25-30 bucks but it was definitely worth 32. I like Eagle Rare, but at that price point ($42 when I found it) I'd rather drink Blue Note Uncut. Eagle is good but not worth all the hype and chase in my view. (to get it at $42 I had to buy a 1792 with it, which is no problem, otherwise it was $60). JTS Brown was so hard to find for me - I got it in Oregon, and I really like it. Coopers is $35 here. It's good but there are others I prefer at that price point I am a minority - I do NOT like OGD 100, except as a mixer. With a diet ginger ale, it's great. It's not under-rated, as everyone knows about it, but it is not easy to find where I live. My under-rated favorite bourbon is Blue Note Uncut (I have 5 bottles on my shelf!). Another lesser-known bourbon that I like is Six and Twenty 5 grain. it has a different flavor profile which makes it interesting. It's made in SC, so easy to find here in GA. Another under-rated bargain is Fighting Cock (103 proof, 17 bucks here). Can you count Very Old Barton 100 as under-rated? It's very inexpensive, but good.
The David Nicholson Reserve is truly very underrated. A couple of years ago at a tasting at Lux Row, both my wife and I immediately picked it as our favorite. We bought a bottle and grab another when we see it. It really is good and the price is very appealing. I just wish I could find it more often.

A buddy did a blind on me. I had no idea what I was tasting. I chose the RR10 over ER. The ER seemed like an amateur try in comparison to the RR10. I was amazed to bourbons with the same profile but one was a bit more controlled and smooth - the RR10. ER10 sits at my house.
Apparently Legent is a guilty pleasure for Matt Porter over at ADHD Whiskey, and at $35-$40, why not give it a try?! I bought a bottle and am waiting for a time to jump into it.
It's $50 locally, so we might hold off and see if we find it elsewhere in our travels. We are definitely curious though, since so many people seem to really enjoy this one.
Some weird choices on that list. I agree Cooper’s Craft 100 is underrated. I would add Lucky Seven and 1792 seem somewhat underrated. A lot of Barton haters out there, except for Calumet 16.. I wholeheartedly agree with the Four Roses Single Barrel and any of the Old Grand Dad line. I’ve had a Woodenville Barrel Proof store pick that was awesome. Moonrise Distillery in Clayton, GA has a 6 year 120 proof single barrel that is outstanding. And I love everything from Chattanooga Whiskey.
For an every day budget drinker - Elijah Craig. Everyone talks about ECBP, but this is a very good, pro-typical bourbon. Surprisingly, Balcones "Pot Still" bourbon is pretty good, and the pot still makes it oilier. If wanted to be a wise arse, I guess I could say MGP. 😜😜 Another Indiana distillery makes a very good entry level bourbon, as well as a sherry finished (among others)....Starlight. LAWS makes some crafty good stuff....the 4 grain and the wheater. Final curveball....Kings County PEATED bourbon.

Even tho it's loved plenty I have to go with Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It's just as good as Stagg, if not better, and it is fairly easy to find. And Whiskey Tube doesn't die over it because you can actually find it. 12 year old, barrel proof paradise.
Unfortunately, I've only had WT101 and OGD on this list. Most and the Craft ones aren't available...😢
coopers craft barrel reserve 😋 🥃cheers
Jeptha Creed Bloody Butchers Creed 90% corn straight bourbon whiskey. Delicious from a craft distillery.
George Dickel 8Year Bourbon
We were hoping somebody would mention this one. We agree.
It’s a great sipper!
Awesome video!
Great list glad you brought up the Coopers great juice WT anything I just replaced another RR 10 year yesterday and Jefferson is overrated, Eagle Rare is fantastic but i don't know anyone who drink's bourbon who is not familiar,I would have to add 1792 BIB and his younger brother Very Old Barton's preferably the 100 proof which had a BIB stamp for about 10 minutes than disappeared not sure why but great for the price and though I'm not a big mix guy i got some compliments on my VOB Mint Julep, cheers great job as always 🥃
VOB is a great suggestion. That entire line is a treat, especially for the price.
Very Old Barton 100 is a great mixer
@@TheBourbonVan I realize it's obscure for now but that soon to be national treasure Old 55 BIB that you guys turned me on to should make the list, I haven't had the heart to open the cask strength because I know what happens when I open a bottle too soon after words 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃 but I'm sure it's just as fine,I believe because of distance I'll ponder a case purchase next trip.
101 One my new favorite daily pours
I have to add IW HARPER, to me, very underrated.
Eagle Rare 10 is getting pretty plentiful nowadays at least on the west coast.
I love WT 101 - never without it. My son-in-law brought me a bottle of Eagle Rare which I wasn't that impressed with. I prefer WT 101. OGD 114 is a staple for us. Several of these I've never heard of. I'm in south Texas.
Coopers craft bourbon (82.2 proof) very underrated in my opinion! I blinded it vrs the 100 proof and liked the 82.2 proof better! I would love yall to blind these on a video and give your opinions!
Great video ... very thought provoking.
You need to contact Matt from ADHD whiskey. His evil pleasure bourbon is Legent!
JTS brown for me.
Rebel, formerly Rebel Yell. A very good bourbon for under $20.00.
Traverse City Whiskey Company Barrel Proof!
Makers Mark 46.
Good information - but something different about your sound quality - a lot of low-freq rumble on my speakers???
Yeah we had a bad cable that took 3 recordings to discover. Thankfully, this was the last of the 3 videos, so the audio will be considerably better from here on in.
Still Austin CS
Most under rated -- Bull Run Distillery. They often release a 12yr or 14yr finished in something amazing...and it's like $40-50.
No complaints here. Love Bull Run!
Trail's end 8 year small batch.
I found the David Nicholson to be identical to OGD Bonded.
