It sucks how little impact Ceasar's death has on the game, but at least the reactions to it are well written. Vulpes' reaction has gotta be one of the best pieces of dialogue in the whole game and is the one that really reveals how fucked the Legion is. The smartest man in the Legion with no confidence in it's new leaders? No, Vulpes has seen the writing on the wall for years, which only makes his loyalty to Caesar that much more impressive
I’d say the impact of Caesar’s death is more long term than short term. One reason for that, was given by Mr. House. The Legion can rally around the idea of taking the dam in Caesar’s memory. It is when Caesar dies and they fail to take the dam a second time, that the Legion will truly begin to fall apart.
We never will. Obsidian made NV not Bethesda. Bethesda fucked them over and never paid them for their work despite Oblivion finishing this entire game in under a year. Obsidian was the original creator of the Fallout series, Bethesda just bought the rights and used the engine they made for Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to make Fallout 3 and had Oblivion make NV. You can look up why they didn't pay Obsidian, the reason was stupid like they were one point away from the score needed on Metacritic to pay Oblivian devs and there's theory Bethesda bot spammed the score down so they wouldn't have to pay up. Basically Oblivion will never ever touch Fallout again and there's a very low chance Bethesda will continue NV since it was Oblivions child. If you want something else written by Oblivion that's purposely similar to the Fallout series though, try Outer Worlds.
@@maximumcockage6503 Impressive - not a single thing you said was true. Obsidian was absolutely paid for their work. They finished the game in 18 months, not "under 1 year." Obsidian were not the original developers of the Fallout series. What Obsidian didn't earn was a promised bonus from Bethesda if they earned an 85+ score on Metacritic. It's true that NV was only off by 1 point (on the PC and Xbox versions, the PlayStation version scored slightly lower), but there was no sabotage by Bethesda involved. New Vegas on release was extremely buggy and frequently crashed, and the reviews were made before the devs got to release any updates and before any community fixes were released. On top of the fact that the gameplay is near identical to Fallout 3's (which was a new game that most people had played at the time), the score it got was probably not unwarranted, even though the passage of time has been kinder to NV. And being off by only one point doesn't really make a difference, they had a threshold to pass and didn't reach it. Sucks, but that's the nature of business obligations. Obsidian also wasn't the original creator of Fallout at all - before Bethesda acquired the rights, it was developed by Interplay/Black Isle. Obsidian was an offshoot of the original Black Isle founded in 2003, and by 2008-2009 still had SOME people from the Fallout dev teams, like Chris Avellone (who worked on Fallout 2 and Van Buren, the OG Fallout 3), and Josh Sawyer (who also worked on Van Buren), but a lot of their staff were basically new. The modern Obsidian doesn't even have many of the people who worked on NV anymore.
Microsoft owns both Obsidian and Bethesda now. It's funny how many people forget that. Microsoft could easily give Obsidian a green light to do a second New Vegas, or any Fallout they so desired.
Oh, and the score of New Vegas took a hit because the initial release was broken to the point that they spent four months patching out bugs that would literally erase save files and corrupt them. Bethesda didn't bot shit, and I wish people would stop spreading misinformation online.
I've never played New Vegas, so I'll ask: Can the DLC take place post-Hoover Dam? I'd love to be able to tell Ulysses, "Oh, Caesar's attack chihuahua? Yeah, he's dead too." 😂
No, without mods there game ends after the battle of hoover dam. This means that there's no official content that exist afterward beyond the ending slides telling the fates of the mojave.
That little voice crack Lucius does always gets a laugh out of me.
Vulpes' true loyalty: job security
Ulysses: "Name's died twice to history" me thinking of Napoleon Bonaparte and his Nephew, Napoleon III :0
*kills the entire legion camp at cottonwood cove*
The slaves:
"I'll just stay here being a slave to NOBODY until Lanius arrives "
????????????????????

"No confidence in its leaders"
Sounds like they're going the way of the NCR.

Yuri Lowenthal voicing half the male cast never gets old
If we get NV2 I’d love to see a Lanius vs Vulpes civil war.
