I was doing my first ever playthrough of NV and was doing Mr. House, along with the Side Bets stuff, anyways I had to go to the fort to kill Benny and so I put on my disguise, and brought Boone with. So we get there and Boone says "so we're gonna kill Caesar, yeah?" I'm like "nah, not yet. You go home for now. Don't trip" Unfortunately as we were _inside_ the fort, as soon as he leaves my company, this fucker gets himself killed. Anyways, long story short I reloaded my last save and sent him home _before_ I went to the fort
Lanius: "courier, who is this man and why is he attacking our Legionnaires" Courier: [Speech 100] "oh that's just my pet NCR Recon soldier, don't worry he doesn't bite, he's just playful" Lanius [Succeeded] "hmm, very well but be sure to keep your 'pet' on a leash, I can't have my men be distracted at such a pivotal moment"
Lanius is such a Chad, he not only pays no mind to people fighting around him, he no sells the threat of an armed attacker in his own tent. Truly a boss.

Lanius was busy coordinating the entire battle and knows you don't need his help to kill ole wait and see Oliver. It's a sign of trust and confidence. That or they knew having him with you would turn the final struggle into a victory lap.

Now that i think of it, most major factions had a follower you could take, NCR had Boone, BOS had Veronica, Followers had Gannon, and i guess you could say Rex was a member of the Kings, but we didnt have a companion that was a Legion character. I wonder what that character could have been if the Legion was more fleshed out like it was intended to be.
Originally, Ulysses was gonna be the Legion companion, and he was gonna have the most dialogue in the game before being scrapped and turned into our favourite the Bear and the Bull guy.
Master was pledged to Nurgle (judging from his looks), President Richardson to Tzeentch (constant scheming) - I don't know about President or Colonel from F3 cause plot in that game sucked ass, but gameplay with mods was cool.

Ah, and also he uses technology that even in pre-war era were viewed as astonishing, which is almost as close as you can get to magic in this setting (no, seriously, why only Master had access to psyonics?). As for Slaanesh, Mottor Runner is a no-brainer. Fiends break every taboo possible, and this guy is in charge of them. Someone would suggest Omertas, but they don't indulge into forbidden pleasures, they rather take advantage of the ones who do.

It's hard for me to roleplay as a legion character, too. Whenever I start getting comfortable with the idea, some legionnaire says something morally bankrupt about slavery or sadistically killing people, and I feel weird again. I know it's just a game, but siding with the Legion seems so hollow to me. Yeah they have the best gear, and the tankiest characters, but combat is only 1 element of the game.
Yes moving a whole tribe out of there land (khans) and almost making the tribes of new Canan extinct is definitely what the good guys do, let’s not forget the kids they killed but oh nooo the legion said woman aren’t equal to men let’s cancel them.

I had first heard him say this just around the time I had switched on the securitrons under the fort (I was doing a House run for my first play through) and for some inexplicable reason, a bug caused every single radio in the map to start blaring static, even when they were turned off, and I was going fucking insane as Boone and I talked and I just fucking snapped, bought him a .50 rifle and brought him to kill everyone in the Fort. The fact that Boone acknowledged what was about to happen as we walked toward the dock to get to the fort, and the fact that he brought up what we had done after everyone was dead, is really what made me realize that I had fallen in love with the game. They KNEW that people would love Boone enough to want to do this with him.
Done this & gave Boone serious armour, weapons & auto stims. Game over. This was years ago but have just started again on my XBOX series X. Thinking of saving & trying out different companions before the Hoover battle. Forgotten the name of the shotgun girl, but give her good kit & we are on. Definitely going to try out Daisy the Super Mutant as this companion is hilarious plus effective against the Deathclaws.

On release Boone was the first companion you'd probably get, and he didn't have that speech warning. So he'd just open fire on the Legion, either in Nelson or Fort Bannister, screwing up those quests. Good times. Also back then the Cazadores would swarm you from a mile way and easily kill you, and if you kited Cazadores to Deathclaw swarms, the Cazadores would utterly destroy them (and then go back to chasing you to your death). Nowadays a lone Deathclaw easily dispatches a group of Cazadores. And let's not get started on the Brotherhood turrets hah.
I wish Danse would do this when you meet with Nick Valentine, right after you kill Kellog. It would have made my BOS playthough more interesting than Danse standing around like he was rooting for synths on the down low...
How do you even engage this type of dialogue? It's impossible to work for the Legion with Boone as your companion, since he always shoots them on sight.

It all makes sense now. You hired Benny (your best friend) to shoot you in the head so you would legitimately suffer amnesia. From there, you set forth your master plan of befriending Boone and having him fight for the legion because of his devoted friendship to you. A friendship gained because he has no one else left (at least ever since he shot Manny after being told he did what, in reality, you did in a master stroke of genius). Jesus. This is like pure Sherlock! You sold out his wife and unborn child, forcing him to kill them. Then you put yourself through amnesia so that you could honestly approach him. Once you gained his trust, you had him kill his final remaining best friend and assumed that role. From there you convinced him that you and he were going undercover to take down the Legion despite the simple fact you were always there to advance their goals. Once you finally decimated the shredded and smoldering remains of his beloved NCR you then had him crucified. As he lay dying you revealed EVERYTHING to him. The final thing he ever heard you say was: “You should’ve never called me ‘missile tits’ in fifth grade....”.
With mods you can I'm sure but what would be the point? At this stage you'd be vilified by NCR. I think you be in too deep at this point to turn back now. Be cool if we could though.
The Devs said that they made him and Oliver essential because at that point the player would be so far into the faction that there was no sense in switching then

The Devs said that they made him and Oliver essential because at that point the player would be so far into the faction that there was no sense in switching then
