Wow!!! I sure could have been well informed over 4 years ago. Luckly I did not have surgery as suggested by my doctor. Thank you very much for this enlightening video. ❤
You're welcome! It would certainly help wouldn't it. Unfortunately shoes definitely aren't the only area where what is fashionable doesn't necessarily coincide with what is healthy. As time goes on, we can only hope that consumer choice shifts the balance a little more in favor of what is healthy! Until then, we're happy to help provide people with a little more info.
Well your video explains why I have bunionettes, it happened when I was in seventh grade and switched from sox and saddle shoes to pointy toe shoes and no socks. I have wide feet, high arches, and high bridges a combo that makes shoe buying a nightmare. I'm 71, I have great flexibility in my feet and toes, maybe I'm too old to change toe alignment but I'm going to try the massage technique. Thanks!
I've seen quite a few comments from seniors saying they switched to barefoot shoes and their walking, comfort and balance improved. I have wide feet too and I can't recommend barefoot shoes enough.
This is the best video I've found on this condition. Oddly, I developed this (seemingly) very suddenly, and during the pandemic while working from home and not wearing shoes much of the time! However, I have caught myself at times standing on the outer edges of my feet. I have no idea why I do this. Weird!
It's interesting how it seems to be happening to a bunch of us. I wonder if it has to do with not wearing shoes, and the arch falling or something. So odd!
@@natalieleungkeetsang5926 To be honest I haven't done them regularly, but when I did do them it seemed like the bump went down. I've been wearing toe separators when I'm not standing (YogaToes) which seem to help too.
I always wear loose shoes but I have a bad habit of sitting on my left foot while at my desk so I'm developing a bunionette. I'll definitely have to give this a try, my little toe is so weak on the left side that I can't even wiggle it! Thanks for the tips, Dr!
I totally agree with the previous comment. I shall now view your web site and now include your instructions to my daily routine . Thank you a walker uk
Thank you for the explanation and exercises. My bunnionette developed after a stress fracture, a few years ago, just below the little toe. I also have accessory navicular. I think it's all causing my arches to go flat. I'm almost 66 and just started having pain from these.
So glad I found this. I had resigned myself to permanent 5th metatarsal tailor's bunionette as I will not get foot surgery for it. What a relief this is. I also saw somewhere that you can buy a she stretcher which will stretch out your toe box. All my running and athletic shoes are open at the 5th metatarsal from where my feet have come through. Pretty brutal when you think about it.
Thank you for this excellent information. I have been suffering from this exact pain for over a year. Now I know what I must do to correct this problem.
Thank you so much for this video. My foot doctor wanted to do surgery on my left foot 👣 with painful bunnionette. I will start with the exercises and the correcting massage and I will put the corrector in between the toes. God 🙏 bless you
Wish I had this information about 20 years ago. I've worn Correct Toes (24 hours a day) and Altra shoes for three years now, and while my feet problems have gotten 90% better, my little toe seems to be permanently twisted inward and under my 4th toe. I'll try that stretch/massage technique, but I'm not optimistic.
@@Trescera hello, my grandmother suffers from bunions and bought her splints to wear at night and she also wears her pads between her toes. I've noticed that her bunions have been shrinking and her toes are not overlapping. I'm actually suffering from bunionetteand very hopeful about this
Your awesome! I’ve been in pain with certain shoes & my pinky has a bumpy thing on the side that rubs against shoes & I’m a hairdresser so I need relief! Thank you!
I tried Altra running shoes for three years. They helped quite a bit with alleviating my plantar fasciitis. But I had to stop using them because they are too narrow at the 5th metatarsal. I use size 10 (my foot measures size 9) I actually took the sock liner to step on and was shocked how much my tailors bunion overlapped. I then took my wide Hokas and did the same thing and was surprised my bunion was at the edge but not over. Actually size 9 Altra works better for the bunion, but then they are too short in the toe box.
That‘s an amazing way to approach that thing 🥰 My left food looks really bad in bunionette terms. So I will try this at home and will observe what‘s happening in the long term. I‘m a runner and not a big fan of barefoot shoes. I have already the toe spreaders but till now it haven’t changed anything for me. But I didn’t massage this particular area at the foot 😍
i literally went to bed never having these and woke up the next day with this. then a few weeks later same thing happened to the other foot. never had any issues in these areas before. i don’t wear tight shoes. in fact i wear very comfortable slippers most of the time because i don’t like wearing shoes
Thank you doctor for this video. I recently began running (13+ miles a day and would like to work up further to do a marathon sometime) and developed bunionettes on both feet. Now it hurts a lot during and after my runs. Is it safe for me to keep running as much as I do? And should I use the shoe inserts during my runs? Also do you have more videos going over the excercise in more detail / discussing that further (success cases and how to massage in depth and how that is internally affecting the areas)? If not could you possibly make some more videos on this? It would be very helpful. Thank you so much!
Hi Toni! Thanks for reaching out :) We offer a Shoe List on our website that gets updated with the best shoes we've found, monthly! We break it out into categories in case you are looking for a specific type of shoe- athletic, dress, sandal- you name it. Here is the list: www.correcttoes.com/foot-help/shoe-list/correct-toes-approved-shoes/ Please let us know if you need any clarification or advice on these!
Wonderful information. Wondering how long and how often we should do these exercises to see results and how long should we expect to see straight toes. Mine is a mild bunionette
This natural approach can take anywhere from six months to a year of consistency. Pain can often reduce within 4-6 weeks. We recommend 5-10 minutes of your day, slowly increasing your time as you feel more comfortable. You can think of this as any other exercise where you increase your weight, resistance, time, etc.
Great video thanks! I purchased Altras and correct toes. When I wear them both I can walk and run with little to no pain. I wore the correct toes for a year and also massaged my feet but there was never a correction. Tomorrow, I am having surgery to bring that 5th meta into alignment. I tried to avoid surgery but sometimes you just have to do it.
Could you do a video for this demonstrating it with self message, please. It's one thing to do this to someone else or have someone stretch and message your toes for you and totally different to do it to yourself. I'm finding it very difficult to hold my great or 5th toe while getting in between the toes from both the top and bottom.
Hi, Lee. Thanks for the suggestion on a video. Fortunately, we have this video (www.correcttoes.com/foot-help/video-library/foot-conditions/) and although it is focused on the big toe bunion (first metatarsal) it can be applied to the pinky/tailor's bunion (fifth metatarsal). We hope find this helpful and let us know if you have any other questions/suggestions.
Dr. , I live in South Florida (WPB).Do you know any good foot doctor down here I can visit to receive the correcting therapy you are explaining in this video. Every day I keep standing on my feet for many hours and it's been so painful lately. Do I have to buy a special shoe? I am actually wearing the special sole the foot doctor prescribed me but it doesn't work and he wants to do surgery which I don't agree. Your answer is really appreciate it.
I'm not a doctor or an expert, but since you haven't had a reply, I'll give my opinion in case it can help. Most shoes doctors recommend will not do anything to either strengthen or free up your feet - quite the opposite in fact - and will still have an elevated heel and often a tapered toe box, both of which will make standing for longer periods harder and more painful. I'm speaking as someone who was starting to experience what seemed to be chronic foot pains in his mid-forties. I switched to barefoot shoes - no heel elevation and a wider toe box - and the pain went away in two weeks. A lot of barefoot shoes are rather expensive, but there are versions that are very comfortable and good quality and also reasonably priced. My favourites are freet - my Freet Connect 2 sneakers are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and I _love_ them - and Tadeevos are also very good, though they weren't wide enough for my very wide feet. Both of these brands are reasonably priced and, I think, better than Vivobarefoot, which are much more expensive.
Definitely I did not know the shoes we wear caused this. I'm 24 and a few years ago i started noticing discomfort on one foot by the pinky. I have been trying to alleviate it using spacers and wider shoes. I'll also add in these stretches.
The reason I’m watching this is because it’s been a couple of months and I have pain in that area and was wondering what it was. I walk everyday as a form of exercise. The pain is becoming sensitive to the touch. These days because of COVID I’m not wearing too many shoes, for I’m still working from home but I do walk at least 2 miles each day, well except Saturday and Sunday. I just bought this from Amazon; Bunion Corrector Pad Bunionette Straightener Separator Cushion Pinky Toe Protector Shield Pain Relief Spacer Splint Cover Guard. Do I use I sleep or I have to wear while walking. Please advice. Thanks!
I have not worn shoes for 90% of my life, I was however morbidly obese. I think it must have been my gait that caused Taylor’s bunions. I’ve been fitted for Correct Toes but none can reach that baby toe, I have small feet. Any idea of something I can do to bring it back into alignment? Thank you!
I can’t find anything on pubmed to back up the efficacy of the foot toe spreaders. If you are still active could you link to some hard published research on these conservatives measures as well as physical therapy.
I hadn't seen this opinion yet. Thanks for the video. Mine isn't red, but the left foot is tender to the touch and when I have shoes on. Plus misshapen compared to the right. The right one is just starting to have a burning sensation. Wondering if it's me rather than the shoe. I bought a new pair of shoes about 8 months ago. The soles for both shoes on the little toe side, are essentially crushed compared to big toe side. The shoes prior to that one had my little toe wearing through the side of the uppers. I started paying attention and it seems I do have supination.
Yes, there are several variables that we look for in shoes to support a more natural toe splay but to also decrease the added stress on muscles and tendons in your feet. See link below for list of shoes we have available and some of the brands that offer a foot-shape toe box: More information: correcttoes.com/foot-help/shoes-101/ Shop shoes in our store: correcttoes.com/shop.html
thank you sir . this rubbing is what i naturally did to help my tailors’ bunion but wanted to make sure and confirm it’s correct. It’s a little alarming to go touch it now that i know and see and feel the bump, but i will try anything before even considering surgery. mine came about from multiple variants: sitting Indian style right foot under on bed with pressure on my right pinky side, flat feet foot turned outward job that requires to be on feet all day improper foot wear i also have some theories in regards to cause and effect: my spine has had slight curvature since kid, the alignment has caused pain and now like a domino effect misaligning the rest of my body like neck , hips , and joint pain in ankles knees and wrists. also i think driving constantly on my right foot on the gas and break in that angle and odd pressure effected it p.s. are toe point and curls a good exercise for this/ ankle flexing ?
How often should one apply this massage and for how long? Is it safe to do on a post-surgical Type II bunionette with reoccurrence? What if the patient doesn’t feel or find a trigger point nodule? Do you recommend using athletic tape like KT Tape after the massage to hold the posture if wearing footwear since Correcttoes doesn’t really work with shoes?
Thanks for checking out the video. In terms of massage, you can follow general massage guidelines: a few times a day, 30-45 seconds. If you'd like more information, we'd love to get your questions answered through a remote consult. Check out more information here: www.nwfootankle.com/remote-consultations/
I went to a reputable doctor here in Miami and was told I needed surgery to shave down the bone in my bunionettes. Made sense to me because I could feel the lumps was actually hard bone. I told him I was a figure skater and have been cramming my feet into tight boots for years. He said he had seen this before in skaters and actually did surgery on a patient who skated for Disney. I've been putting off surgery for years. I will definitely be trying this. Thanks for posting. 🐱
Very helpful video. I have a few issues going on. Beginning a bunion and bunionette and webbing between my second and third toes up to half way. My question is can I use correct toes. Is there a way to modify in between the toes. Most if the modifications are for the 5th toe. I really want to get correct ties if they can be modified
A lot of good questions have been posed and very few answers. Why? Also, I have yet to hear any explanation regarding what compression stocking wearers are supposed to do when the stocking is pushing the toe in.
@@correcttoes Compression stockings WITH toes have, IMO, contributed to my bunionettes. When I use compression stockings WITHOUT toes, the pressure on the little toe is relieved of course, but then ALL my toes become puffy (and for an inch or two up my foot as well). So what I do now is put silicone spacers between the little toe and the next toe, and use compression stockings WITH toes. This seems to provide comfort and no swelling. However putting stockings on over the silicone device sure complicates the procedure. I've tried a metal "donner" - I find them useless, especially with the spacers in place.
Would soaking your foot with a mixture of mineral oil and Johnson aloe & vitamin e powder improve the foot and nail growth and help the nails become softer and not become ingrown?
It's very much dependent on what causes or is causing an ingrown. Soaks can help, however, it is a slow and long process to bring in a healthy nail. Keeping up with nail care and finding out what has caused the ingrown will be key in deciding your course of treatment.
Hi David, thanks for reaching out! We don't think so. The tibialis posterior inserts on the navicular and cuneiform bones as well as the bases of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsals; and does not attach to the 5th metatarsal. Additionally, it is a muscle deep within the leg and thus is difficult to strengthen without just strengthening the entire posterior aspect of the lower leg (the calf). I would focus more on mobility and flexibility. You could try something along the lines of the bunion stretch and soft tissue release found in this video: (ua-cam.com/video/q5Ov6LMISvU/v-deo.html) but on the outer part of the foot between the 4th and 5th metatarsal. Walking while wearing Correct Toes should help descend the 5th metatarsal as well.
@@correcttoes thanks! Didn't expect a reply especially not so soon. I'll try your suggestions. I have a very high arched rigid foot and struggle with metatarsal pain and nerve symptoms on one foot (I'm a cyclist, wearing met pads in shoes and unbranded toe separators at the minute which aid nerve pain) I feel that I need to rebuild my transverse arch somehow there is little info out there about the transverse arch and exercises. I definitely overload the met heads, except the 5th which has a tailors bunion. My thought process was to strengthen peroneals and tib post (not that my medial arch needs any more lifting which I am aware tib post is partly responsible for). Are there any intrinsic muscle exercises for medial arch you would recommend?
@@drnorton364 happy to help! We do have a video on this channel that talks about how to strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles (not specific to the medial arch but should certainly help). This is the one I'd recommend to watch: ua-cam.com/video/1Rf5kbP40po/v-deo.html The exercises begin at 1:40 of the video, with some background that you are probably well acquainted with to start :)
Why did you say that wider shoes are NOT helpful ? Most shoes narrow at the top forcing the toes together. Then at the end you say you need correct footwear. So what do you mean by that ? Thanks...
Most shoe companies that claim to have "wide" shoes, are only wide at the midfoot and ball of the foot and still have an unhealthy narrow taper in the toe box. The shoes we recommend are widest at the tips of the toes.
I know this is an old video, but I have a question. I was told by a doctor that it’s not the bend of the fifth phalanx that is the problem, but rather the drift of the fifth metatarsal away from the fourth. Knowing that, wouldn’t massaging in between the metatarsals make things worse?
Hello Dr! A doctor injected cortisol into my teen’s foot due to the Tailor’s bunion! Is this ok? And he suggests my teen go on a prescription anti-inflammatory drug every day for 2 weeks. Is this ok?
Wide toe box shoes do not help me. The widest part is at the wrong place unless I get shoes that are too short for my feet. So frustrating. Plus, my 5th metatarsal sticks out so wide that when my little toe is in alignment with it, the shape of my foot is like a duck's foot. No shoes are made this way! Super skinny heel and super wide toes. Argh. In order for shoes to fit my little toes, I'd have to cut a hole in the shoe for my little toe to stick out.
Tanks! I just have a surgery! It is a nightmare!! My dr did not give me a second option!!😕 this needs to be done in my both feet, now I do not know what to do!
Its not "harmful information" at all. Its completely true. If you have an extra wide foot and it has a bunionette then "correcting" it will only make it wider "spreading your toes" makes it even harder to fit your foot into shoes. This is ridiculous.
Hi, thanks for watching the video and reaching out. We agree- wearing Correct Toes will indeed spread your toes and make it harder to fit your feet into conventional shoes! Because of this, we recommend shoes that are widest at the tips of the toes and are also flat, wide and flexible. Naturally-shaped footwear with these characteristics allow the toes to splay properly, encouraging blood flow, nerve function and a wide base for balance. I hope that this explanation provides more insight! Appreciate the conversation :)
My little toe metarsal bone has a little curve to it. I have a non red lump on the outside of my left little toe joint. Looks like a excess bone build up. Weirdly, a supportive shoe helps, whereas a open toe box running shoe sets the pain off and I had to get rid of that type of shoe. I can not walk around barefoot on hard wood or any hard surface or that sets it off. I must wear a running shoe from wake up to bed time. So this seems odd according to all the info I hear but that's the way it is.
Thank you! Because I have a very wide toe box area and a normal heel width, can anyone suggest footwear with a built-in heel cup and regular arch support because most shoes, even "wide widths" cause my toes pain. 🙏

Thank you for reaching out and hopefully the video answered many of the questions you had. however similar to our bunion reversal exercises some massage and soft tissue release. this is dependent upon the severity of the deformity and would recommend booking an appointment!
I have no idea what type of shoe to get 😖. I do a lot of walking and going up and down stairs. Basically rushing around everywhere. The shoes I need to wear need to be waterproof and have a good grip at the bottom of the shoes. The floors are very slippery. I go through shoes really fast because the bottom wear out quick and sometimes from where the fold is. I already have a difficult time finding shoes for work because I have small feet. So I have to go to the boys section. Women's shoes are mostly 6 and above. I would need some shoes that are fitting for work and shoes that will fit my small feet. Thank you for the advice I'm going to start doing this. Hopefully it will help me because it's so painful.
Freet, a barefoot shoe brand (wide toes, no heel elevation) do a kids version of their Citee shoes, which are very simple, tasteful vegan shoes that look like leather and have a grippy rubber sole.
It's hard to tell in the video, but when you massage the tissues between the 4th and 5th met, are you primarily applying pressure from the top of the foot down, are you applying pressure from both sides by trying to also pinch upwards with the thumb from the bottom?
There are several brands out there to look into: Lems Altra running Vivobarefoot Barebarics You can visit our website to see some of the options we have. www.correcttoes.com/shop
Why do ski boot fitters not know this issue when they look at feet? Spent a lot of money getting custom footbeds and stretching the shells out but the rubbing of bunionettes against the liner or shell hurts a ton still. Any suggestions? Also does epsom salt foot soaks and drinking bay leaf tea work as I've found on the web as answers to reduce this? Thanks in advance
That depends on many factors, some of which are how old you are/how long you've been wearing shoe with narrow toe boxes, how often wear shoes like this, how elastic the tissues in your feet are, etc. Some people notice improvements in days to weeks and for others it takes years to reach their goals. If your main goals are relieving pain and improving mobility, Correct Toes will surely help.
Will this help if the fifth metatarsal is shifted far out and the fifth pharyngeal is shifted inward like l> There is so much space between my fourth and fifth metatarsals that it looks like there's one missing. My feet have been like that for as long as I can remember but no one else in my family has it. If it'[s possible I would like to fix this and straighten the toe in line with the metatarsal and move the fifth metatarsal back closer to the fourth metatarsal.

There have been many studies, when we say proper footwear we recommend shoes that don't restrict blood flow, many shoes do with elevated heels and toe spring. We recommend flexibility in the shoe to allow your foot to work and minimal cushion or support to again let your foot get stronger to support itself. And of course we recommend shoes that are the natural shape of feet- widest at the tips of the toes not the ball of the foot.
My 5th metatarsal head in the left feet is bigger then normal people's, so it is sort of protruded outward, affecting the appearance of the whole feet and shoe :(
This is a common misconception but the bunions or hallux valgus is shown to be an extreme dislocation and not a bone growth. You can read more into this dynamic here: www.jospt.org/doi/full/10.2519/jospt.2016.6704
But what if you’re experiencing pain on the bottom of the bunionette and cannot wear close toe shoes. I am doing everything I can to avoid surgery. What do I do?? 😢
Are there callus build up in these areas? The pain can be from a few different things. We would encourage you to try proper footwear, slowly using your feet, barefoot, on different surfaces, and finding the root cause for the pain since this is more immediate. The correction of bunionettes can take some time, you will need to be ready to be consistent!

Bonjour Mikey! Hope you're having a good day! Bunionettes, much like bunions, can be corrected naturally without having to resort to surgery. The key is to wear shoes with a wide toebox so that your feet are not being deformed by your footwear. Try wearing Correct Toes as well--making sure that your pinky toe is not being pushed up against the rest of your foot can keep it from becoming disjointed and irritated. Hope this helps!

Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
Excellent information, thank you!
Wow thanks for keeping it real Doc. You’ve given me hope, and solutions 🙏🏻
This is the best video I've found on this condition. Oddly, I developed this (seemingly) very suddenly, and during the pandemic while working from home and not wearing shoes much of the time! However, I have caught myself at times standing on the outer edges of my feet. I have no idea why I do this. Weird!
Same here. Mine happened during lockdown and working from home. Have the exercises helped?
Same I developed it on both feet since the lockdown weird :(
Same! I just developed it during second quarantine in england and I am literally all day sitting down, cooking barefoot or in my bed
Thank you so much doc, you’re in this for the right reasons.
Pretty brutal when you think about it.
my shoes all have holes in the same place too
Thank you, great explanation. Just what I needed. Will try the massage stretch.
Wow, I have wondered all my life about this
This was good. Thanks for the explanation and actionable step.
Glad it was helpful! Let us know if you have questions!
Thank you for this excellent information. I have been suffering from this exact pain for over a year. Now I know what I must do to correct this problem.
Glad we could help. Keep in contact. We'd like to know how you are doing.
Thank you so much for this video. My foot doctor wanted to do surgery on my left foot 👣 with painful bunnionette. I will start with the exercises and the correcting massage and I will put the corrector in between the toes. God 🙏 bless you
Did you do the stretches? I am going to start. My doctor wants to do surgery in 2 weeks! I want to see if this will work
Wish I had this information about 20 years ago. I've worn Correct Toes (24 hours a day) and Altra shoes for three years now, and while my feet problems have gotten 90% better, my little toe seems to be permanently twisted inward and under my 4th toe. I'll try that stretch/massage technique, but I'm not optimistic.
We also wish we could've been sharing this information 20 years ago. Please try the stretch massage and hopefully there can be some improvement.
2 years. Any update?
@@Trescera hello, my grandmother suffers from bunions and bought her splints to wear at night and she also wears her pads between her toes. I've noticed that her bunions have been shrinking and her toes are not overlapping. I'm actually suffering from bunionetteand very hopeful about this
@ryhisner Any updates after 5 years? Did the massaging improve the situation?
Your awesome! I’ve been in pain with certain shoes & my pinky has a bumpy thing on the side that rubs against shoes & I’m a hairdresser so I need relief! Thank you!
Hi Jamie! Thanks for sharing, and we hope that the suggestions from this video continue to help. Best of luck!
Thanks a lot. I had two treatments with stem cells and still have problems with tailor's bunions. I wish i saw your video earlier.
The best video. Nicely explained. Thank you.
Thanks! I felt instant relief after the stretch.
Wow. Thanks doc
My doctor said don’t wear tight shoes and sent me on my way
I now have hope
Thanks
Tnx for sharing this knowledge of bunyonette.... My podiatrist told me to wear a toe seperater but didn't tell to massage. Will do so.. Tnx again. 🌹🌹🌹
I wish I would have watched this video before I had the bunionette surgery.
Hi. I am considering getting surgery on my bunionette. How was your experience with it?
Thanks for the informative video. Is there any relationship between flat feet and Tailors Bunion?
I wonder the same. Good question.
Thank you for this wonderful information. Please, can you make a video showing all the best shoes we humans should wear? Thank you 🙂
Hi Toni! Thanks for reaching out :) We offer a Shoe List on our website that gets updated with the best shoes we've found, monthly! We break it out into categories in case you are looking for a specific type of shoe- athletic, dress, sandal- you name it. Here is the list:

Please let us know if you need any clarification or advice on these!
How was your surgery? are you better?
Thank you for sharing! We are happy to help and can always be used as a resource.
Thank you!
Thank you for your informative direct video.
I can’t find anything on pubmed to back up the efficacy of the foot toe spreaders. If you are still active could you link to some hard published research on these conservatives measures as well as physical therapy.
What about people that actually work.!? Some of us have to wear work boots. What do you recommend.?
I hadn't seen this opinion yet. Thanks for the video. Mine isn't red, but the left foot is tender to the touch and when I have shoes on. Plus misshapen compared to the right.
The right one is just starting to have a burning sensation.
Wondering if it's me rather than the shoe. I bought a new pair of shoes about 8 months ago. The soles for both shoes on the little toe side, are essentially crushed compared to big toe side. The shoes prior to that one had my little toe wearing through the side of the uppers. I started paying attention and it seems I do have supination.
How many times a day do you do these exercises shown in the video?
We'd recommend doing them for about 10 minutes each day. Treat it as any other workout, slowly increasing your time doing them as you progress.
Can you explain more about what kind of shoes are better? Because you said wider width won't help.
Yes, there are several variables that we look for in shoes to support a more natural toe splay but to also decrease the added stress on muscles and tendons in your feet. See link below for list of shoes we have available and some of the brands that offer a foot-shape toe box:

thank you sir .
this rubbing is what i naturally did to help my tailors’ bunion but wanted to make sure and confirm it’s correct.
It’s a little alarming to go touch it now that i know and see and feel the bump, but i will try anything before even considering surgery.
mine came about from multiple variants: sitting Indian style right foot under on bed with pressure on my right pinky side,
flat feet
foot turned outward
job that requires to be on feet all day
improper foot wear
i also have some theories in regards to cause and effect:
my spine has had slight curvature since kid, the alignment has caused pain and now like a domino effect misaligning the rest of my body like neck , hips , and joint pain in ankles knees and wrists.
also i think driving constantly on my right foot on the gas and break in that angle and odd pressure effected it
p.s. are toe point and curls a good exercise for this/ ankle flexing ?
Happy to help!
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Please specify your questions and we will answer as best as we can!
We recommend compression stockings that do not cover your toes.
@@correcttoes
Compression stockings WITH toes have, IMO, contributed to my bunionettes.
Lol. The very first video that comes up when searching 'tailors bunion' is a surgeon removing bone.
Hi, thanks for this. If my 5th met is raised/dorsiflexed/partially dislocated, could strengthening the posterior tibialis help to descend it?
This is the one I'd recommend to watch: ua-cam.com/video/1Rf5kbP40po/v-deo.html
The exercises begin at 1:40 of the video, with some background that you are probably well acquainted with to start :)
Is it safe to wear the corrector all night?
Two quick questions:
1. How long to perform this
2. How often
Thanks Dr. Ray!
2-5 years? Depends on your age and fitness
Can you explain and show the Correctos or whatever that thing is called on the actual foot?
Surgery is honestly the only option if you have a foot like mine

I was two days from going to surgery to remove part of the bone that's lump on the side of my small toe thanks for the video I'm hoping it's right also how do you address the lump on the side of your toe bone orthopedic doctor said he was going to cut that out
Thank you for reaching out and hopefully the video answered many of the questions you had. however similar to our bunion reversal exercises some massage and soft tissue release. this is dependent upon the severity of the deformity and would recommend booking an appointment!
Yan Sfor vivo barefoot foot brand
Freet, a barefoot shoe brand (wide toes, no heel elevation) do a kids version of their Citee shoes, which are very simple, tasteful vegan shoes that look like leather and have a grippy rubber sole.
This isn't going to work on a bunionette with the big bony lump on the side. It's not going to make the lump disappear is it?
If the bump is bony calcification, then we're afraid not.
It's hard to tell in the video, but when you massage the tissues between the 4th and 5th met, are you primarily applying pressure from the top of the foot down, are you applying pressure from both sides by trying to also pinch upwards with the thumb from the bottom?
From both sides. Just trying to get to that muscle between the metatarsals any way we can to help loosen it up.

Why do ski boot fitters not know this issue when they look at feet? Spent a lot of money getting custom footbeds and stretching the shells out but the rubbing of bunionettes against the liner or shell hurts a ton still. Any suggestions? We're so honored to have been part of your recovery! If you ever have any questions, we're here to help.
How long will it take for my foot to get back to the original normal position
I thought bone grows on bunions ? Like body compensates from dislocation and adds more calcium deposits

What is
Proper footwear???????
There have been many studies, when we say proper footwear we recommend shoes that don't restrict blood flow, many shoes do with elevated heels and toe spring. We recommend flexibility in the shoe to allow your foot to work and minimal cushion or support to again let your foot get stronger to support itself. And of course we recommend shoes that are the natural shape of feet- widest at the tips of the toes not the ball of the foot.
My 5th metatarsal head in the left feet is bigger then normal people's, so it is sort of protruded outward, affecting the appearance of the whole feet and shoe :(
Where can I buy that for the 5 toe bone ?
www.correcttoes.com/shop/correct-toes.html
Is this real? Why do many doctors say that the bone is growing?
