- Went through some recordings of old Pinkpop performances from 1983 which were broadcasted last summer.
Ran into one of my guitar heroes Gary Moore performing "Nuclear Attack", including keyboard intro. I was and still am a big fan of his guitar sound and work.
Band members:
Gary Moore - Guitar, Vocals
Ian Paice - Drums
Neil Murray - Bass
Don Airey - Keyboards
I thought I better share it. Enjoy it.
An all star band: Ian Paice on drums, Neil Murray on bass, Don Airey on keyboards and Gary Moore on guitars ... Amazing... RIP Gary.
AMAZING! ALL STAR!!! GREAT STUFF!
Moore's best band ever IMO. Got to see him in '87 for Wild Frontier release in Chicago.
well said
Wow that is some lineup. Awesome
Half Purple
I am from Belgrade. Serbia. I saw Gary as he had Held a concert here on Belgrade. And that was the first and the last time i saw and Heard him playing . Was Amazing. He hit the notes like you played cd. Perfect. I am glad i was there. Thank you Gary. And RIP my childhood dream idol. 😢❤
Guys like Gary Moore are legends for a reason! These guys just gave everything they got on stage! RIP Gary. God bless.
Agreed
Ian Paice, one of the greatest wasp chewers of all time.....and certainly one of the greatest drummers....great to see him on stage with Gary and the others. What a line-up
He left the group partly because of rejoining DP but also because 'it was too loud' ;
Gary Moore was more metal than we ever will be. This line-up was more than amazing
Gary totally disassociated himself from his 80s metal stuff later on.
Crazy how some guitar players who have nothing to do with metal are more fuckin metal than any of the shredders. Always felt that way about Nugent, intensity and presence like Maiden in spite of cornball shit like cat scratch. It's his playing and Gary's playing, their phrasing and tone is all I'm after, they sounded like giants.
This was laughably shite
@@michaelschmidt9708Steve lukather did the same thing after the 90s when he got cleaned up off some of the drugs and the booze.
@@michaelschmidt9708I always thought that was a shame. His obvious love of blues meant his shredding was never mindless and he slowed down when it right for the song. He knew when one carefully chosen note could be better than half a dozen. Now with all his skills if only Yngwie understood that!
No one's ever really come along and matched Gary's fiery brilliance.
Damn Right
Moore was shite
They broke the mold when Gary came along
More fire in Garys playing than any other guitarist. Even his beautiful ballads have his fierce intensity in them. He was such a beast of a player.
Gary Moore did not fuck around. Gary Moore was always intense. Gary Moore worked hard and played hard. Gary Moore was a true fighting Irishman. Gary Moore took no prisoners
Right on
I know, if ever you try and play like him you have to pump yourself up first, I only manage short bursts, its very intense and a full metal jacket workout. His incredible guitaring really stems from his own dynamic personality like many great artists.
there are 3-4 "metal" albums from Gary in the early 80's, had them all at the time, came after lizzy, showcased his ability and then his blues era stuff, the guy was just......just.
long live GM and his music!
what i love about gary moore was his ability to play heavy metal and blues as well !!! amazing guy amazing guitarist !!!!
And jazz.
The most under rated guitar player. Got to love his work.
I seen this tour Gary was amazing
Gary moore is one of the best hard rock guitar ever
Not to mention his blues!!
He could play ANYTHING! Blues, rock, even shred with the best of them...and sound GREAT doing it!!!
And ballads :-)
@@MrCrrispycolosseum II also playing fusion
Could he play Jazz?
@@toffeeriot4219yes he could play jazz as well there's a video somewhere him playing all styles
He could play anything and made them all sound totally shite
Man,brings back great memories Gary Moore rocking it out in the early 80s..fantastic!..RIP Gary, sorely missed..one of the greatest guitarists of all time!
Cool!... that took me back to my youth. Fantastic!!!!! Rest in peace, Gary Moore.
They all will be sadly missed in comin Future because that Generation "will never comeback" !!☝️
This was a REAL SUPER GROUP!!!!!
. . . One of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar . . .
Gary commanded the guitar with many different styles. His tone was second to none!!!
80's forever!!!!! Great music, great musicians!!!! Best decade ever!!!! Rip Gary Moore. Greetings from Italy
The master of every guitarist
Super group!
Love it or leave it. I love it. This is when a band went out there and played their asses off. And it was real. No sample tracks or overdubs. This is great. I was just a kid then and remember how true music used to be played. Not like not now when they sample their own crap and lip sync to it. True musicianship is becoming a lost art.
Amazing performance by an amazing band. Gary's playing during this period just blows my mind.
Gary more was one of the best Rock guitarists in the world Rip
Back then the bands have at least one supergroup line up in their time. I mean come on! Gary Moore, Neil Murray, Ian Paice and Don Airey.... if that is not a supergroup I really dont know what it is
Super dooper group😂😂😂
Ian has been one of my favorite drummers forever, simple, crisp and the king of the perfect fills 🤘😜🤘
Personally when everyone was having a hard on for Eddie van Halen back then , I just smiled and put Gary's tape in my car as I drove to work and knew Gary was the real deal 👍
You have to love the fans head banging!
Gary had that pink strat for a very long time, it launched his career and made some fantastic masterpieces !!
RIP Gary
Not starting anything but I think you mean red instead of pink.
@@russellbotoitchi520it’s pink
Metal with single coils!
Its a Fiesta red stratocaster from the early 60’s. End of discussion.
@@lelin70 Hey girls.. who gives a Fock. !!
Boy, I'm getting old . . . I was there back in 1983. Nevertheless, the best version ever played by Gary (R.I.P.).
So glad to have seen Gary on this tour, and the next one with Bob Daisley and Phil Lynott making a guest appearance in Belfast! Those were the days...
So ahead of the pack, Garry n friends 🔥🔥🔥
Killer keyboard intro. Strat tone is ripping!
I was there, awesome sounding Fender. Gary is on fire. Those were the days.
Check out a young Don Airey. Quite the keyboard technician. Single handedly, he created a "audio war" landscape. He's like the Gary Moore of the Keyboard. Mad props!
bigest blackmore's mistake was to let him go from Rainbow; nothing new, Black is full of mistakes in bizz sense...
Check Marino's Guit War, Frank reenacts an entire air raid on his guitar
He's no Jon lord. But he still one of the best
@jerrywoods4066 😊what could john do that he couldn't?he actually played in more bands than john
@@ericm4426 Jon lord was better period.
Wow,missed it back then. He definitely jumped into the early 80s sound. The marching rythym and cadence of Europe. I briefly met Gary Moore @ Bayou(wash dc) he was serious, cordial and brief. 2nd floor by the soundboard watching openers,Hurricane. We shook hands had a quick conversation about the state of pop metal in early 90's. I humbley asked for Empty Rooms, as a breather from the trend. He'd of done it anyway....but it was great. What a soul.😊🎸🎵
I remember when this played on the radio. Gary covered a lot of ground in his career. God bless him.
Yes I remember the Greg Lake version which Gary played on being on the radio.
Rock on in heavenly with Phil Gary
Man, Gary rips!, you are missed
Shredding on a single coil and non locking tremolo..this bands on fire. First time Gary Moore listener.
Suggest you listen to Victims of the Future full album, Run for Cover full album, and Wild Frontiers... genius
Der war schon einer der besten RIP Mr Moore
I can't describe what hearing this does for me, just nostalgia for great times long dead.....
This song was on my mind, so I clicked this live version. Great song from a great artist Gary Moore.
Great Gary ...And Band...Great !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
80's overload.. Wow😎
Great unit together. Sad loss to these magical ones
Agree. Wildest and hardest line up ever.
Wow !
love the version of this song on Greg Lakes Solo album best ever! !they were great together
Look at the crowds reaction. Priceless!
What a monster on that guitar! How he could make that Strat Metal and tune all the time. What a talented guy...RIP
a horrible loss. fuck
Makes me sick fuck shite fuck crap fuck caralho to the bone at what music has become nowadays. Just talentless crap...
Thanks for sharing, he was one of the greats
Those were the days... GM is one of the reason I started playing guitar. Huge influence.
Gary Moore was so underrated!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Saw Gary Moore Grangemouth Town Hall.1979.brilliant.anybody there also.😮
Legend. This guy could play anything. One of the all time greats.
Epic playing from the whole band 👍 saw Don airey with purple recently - was great 😬
Amazing stuff. Band was on fire
imagine that 1983 was only 9 years ago when this video was put to youtube...
Omg wow holy shit this was the beginning ....
Probably one of the best ever.
My favourite Gary Moore lineup
Hell of a line up!
What a fucking great day that was and week. Terry Hall played with 'Fun Boy Three' too, R.I.P. Terry & Gary, both legends in their own rights. Sorely missed. 😔😔😔
One of the true guitar greats, and a great band!
...the analog power....
Gary can play guitar in any Genre. What a line up.
Dream team!!
I saw Gary in Buffalo, NY 1984. Awesome show
the legend line up...
Great clips of the 80's metal crowd. That's as I remember it. All denim and leather.
No phones, no computers, no internet, and we were fine, but since 69, they're planning was the internet to come and internet good and bad the good many of us found out many things we couldn't before of many things hidden from us from governments
Good keyboard intro
Holy shit that was awesome!
Gary Moore (the lord of the strings), Ian Paice (the lord of the drums), Don Airey and Neil Murray...what else can you ask for
Don and Neil were not yet promoted to lord yet.
Now this, for instance, is f%$#ing awesome.
!!! so fucking great one of the most memorable performances of this killer anthem song R.I.P. robert william gary moore (04/04/1952+06/02/2011),one of the most finest guitarist from the british isles,a true guitar hero keep rocking gary !!! brilliant upload many thanks \m/...\m/...\m/...
damm right bro love gary moore.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum me too bro and i love to death, definitely gary is a great guitar hero.
horus hellblood a guitar god. love the way he plays blues too, and of course his magic with thin lizzy, and his magic solo work.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum hell yeah damn right bro he was a virtuoso guitarist and rediscovered the blues that had inspired him in the first place and he playing with skid row(phil lynott),was in the band
Haha he wouldnt be happy with you calling him from the british isles though, Gary considered himself irish!
I saw him in concert open for Def Leppard and Krokus in this same year when I was 11 it was my first concert
Thought the drummer looked familiar....wow! Haven't heard this for so long didn't recognize by it's title until Gary started playing....a true guitar icon gone but never to be forgotten
Excellence at its peak!
Nuclear Attack released on the first Greg Lake solo album with Gary Moore
This fuckin guy was my hero what a talent he was, had the privilege to see him live with Lizzy rest easy mate your legacy and legend will live on forever 😢🙏
still love your music!!
What a band!!!!
Yes ! One amazing safe.
Good to see the little intro from Don Airey. Some of that has carried through to this day in the Deep Purple shows where Don gets his solo before Perfect Strangers. These days it is more to do with Star Wars and Mars from the Planets Suite than it is the cold war. Look at this whole band though - if you have anything else from this show, you would get the thanks of a million fans.
What a band!
Damn! Had never seem this!!
I saw Gary Moore 1983 in the title and I knew Ian Paice would be playing, so I almost started jacking, then I recognised Don Airey and that sent me over the edge.
I gotta clean up now, it was a massive jack
This is the real deal. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
what amaze me anyone of these Musicians could have headlined they were this good
Neil Carter sitting down behind Don Airey !!!
What a player! What players!
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing! RIP Gary!
Amazing !!!!
this is the most awesome live performance. And guitar playing is so otherwordly. ⚡⚡🎸🎸⚡⚡
Few guitar players have put more emotion in their solos. Studio or Live Gary just rips your soul apart with those notes and then you start listening close it’s pretty complex
playing technically as well. Best of both worlds, I personally just don’t care for 5 million note solos if they have no emotion.
Thanks for sharing
As great as this performance is, I’m actually MORE impressed by the dudes in the front row, enjoying this like it’s their last day on Earth. That’s rock n roll!!!!
those were the days.... long before the boring phone crowd of today (except fans from South America)
@@cango5679 LOL. soooo right
Thanks brother! Been a HUGE Gary Moore fan, since his Corridors of Power album. End of the world KICKED my ASS, and still does. His whole catalog is a joy to listen to.
