Deponia - My Favorite Scene

- Deponia is probably one of my favorite games ever, and for all the fun and hilarious lines and scenes in the game, it is this scene and this rant near the end of the game that takes the cake for me.
In an exchange between Rufus and Cletus, in which Cletus tells Rufus that the Organon will destroy Deponia, Rufus tries desperately to convince Cletus to not, and be on his way back to Elysium.
However, through a series of lengthy dialogue trees, Rufus confesses his true feelings toward his home planet in a rather heartfelt monologue on how much he hates Deponia. Rufus also mentions his father at one point.
I often, especially now, come back to this quote and find that it is somewhat relevant to not only modern times, but to myself as well. I find myself thinking of this quote when thinking about my life and all that I want to do and have done.
A powerful scene from a great game. - Фільми й анімація
As despicable as Rufus has proven himself to be throughout the series, you can honestly sympathise with him in this. If there IS something better waiting for you out there and if there IS something you need and are willing to do anything to get it while everyone else seems to just coast along in life with little care in the world, why wouldn't you do all in your power to get what you want? The biggest thing though that makes Rufus still come across as likable after this is that he can't bring himself to let anyone die for his need in the end. This is some rare character development that isn't often seen in games, movies or books and it comes across as something that makes him so believable as a person. This game had some great writing with it.
I... I can‘t get over him talking in english, I‘m so used to his german voice
I agree, and I am an American, non-German speaking person. But even though I myself prefer to play the game in German, a) because the whole thing sounds better in its native language and b) I love the German language anyway, I chose the English version to make it a little more accessible to other non-German speaking persons like myself. The English dub is... pretty good, I guess. It gets the job done, as most English dubs should. But I still prefer to play it in German in the same way I prefer to watch Babylon Berlin or Das Boot in German. It’s just better. Then again, I’m about ¼ German myself, so that might have something to do with it.
I'm used to Italian, it is done very well
It works other way around ;)
naah. English waaay better. ctually eng dub for non-english titles is at medium or completely trash levels. Here ENG are waaay better than DEU voice over. For every characters, literally.
Im used to spanish 😅😅😅
"Stop repeat everthing I say"
This scene really got to me for some reason.
You can really hear the desolation that Rufus feels after so many years of living this way.
The soundtrack really adds something to the scene
Doesn’t it though? I have the soundtracks to the first and second games on my iPod. I bought them digitally from Amazon.
@@spacezoomer i love the soundtracks for the series. I keep humming the Organon hymn everytime i get bored
@@NPipiniko oh, that’s the best track on the album.
my sink also does the dishes for me.
I JUST REALIZED SHERLOCK HOLMES HAS THE VOICE OF RUFUS (and the others) and my mind is fucking BLOWN (your video really helped with proving my theory btw, thanks for that ^^)
The whole time while playing the Testament of Sherlock Holmed and now Crimes and Punishments I couldn't for the LOVE of fucking godzilla figure out where I know this voice from and it was fucking bugging me!!!!!!! Until now.
... feels good man ^^
Well, I'm glad I was able to help you. Thank you for watching.
Unfortunately so it seems that the voice actor is slowly reading the script. I say this because in the Italian version there is a little more emphasis, a little more drama, a little more ... sentiment let's say. Go to minute 22:22 -> ua-cam.com/video/5eKtgXj6maw/v-deo.html. I give you an example of what I am saying.
THERES A ENGLISH DUB!?!??!
Yep. It's easier for me to play because I'm a native English speaker, but I prefer the German language version because I love the language. Plus the longplay from which I got this footage was in English anyway so.
Love how Cletus just looks to the side like "Damn, i guess i struck a very sensitive nerve there"
