I saw this on a switch sale and thought I’d have a look. When first glancing upon it I thought it was quite monkey island esque so when you said the protagonist is like a modern Guybrush Threepwood I had to get it 😂
It’s less “hard” and more finicky. A lot of times I know what to do but I’m not clicking the right things in the exact right place. But compared to the point of clicks of old, it’s actually pretty easy.
Only down sides are that a few problems may use bizarre logic, but the big one is that its short. Still I was enthralled at the end to get the sequel right after wards, the third and final part will be this fall.
Reall? Came here because of a spoiler warning in another review and after less than one minute you casually drop major plot points from the second half of the game.
You can also try the game “the pillars of the earth” is also a click game. And I think them both developed by the same company. Just a advice, but the story is not even alike in the slightest.
you must get the monkey island games, if you can only get one, get Monkey Island 3(they dont continue eachothers stories, theyre different adventures of Guybrush Treepwood, a Mighty Pirate(tm)), bu Monkey Island 3 is a gem, I finished it more than 10 times, it also has different difficulty modes with more complicated puzzles and more stuff to pick up and combine, it has the same funny-heartwarming atmosphere, and its the same, a love story with a prootagonist almost alike Rufus
Unfortunately, Gog and steam don't have it, only overpriced 2nd hand cds on ebay, like 50€... Until Disney decides to sell it......well.....It is a pirate game.
The game went bananas with "filling a kiloton of parallel objectives to do in the same level" It's not necessarily the worst "wtf is that logic" when it comes to combine/use items, but there are really frustrating parts when you just miss one thing, to unlock a zone that may host items to solve over things, and you have no idea how to do something that you still see how it plays elsewhere. Like a guy with music sheets you know where to use next, but can't figure the fuck out how to get the pages from him
not bad but not good, is a cheap copy of the old Gold Age of gaming ... i prefer to play monkey island 1 and 2 for the 63 time ... that play deponia again ... pssss and yea im comparing it with the best game ever but still ... whant a good GrapAdventure ... play any of the old school ps. compare rufus with Guybrush is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo out of question ... i fealt ALL the game that he was a FAIL attemp to resemble Guybrush
Yeah and that yesterday made by the Spanish studio...some rubbish translation in that too. Why don't some native speakers start making these again? Surely there is another broken sword in the pipeline?!
Eh, I wasn't a big fan of this game. Just finished the final game in the trilogy an hour ago, and the ending was unsatisfying as all hell. The writing was mediocre, and I really hated Rufus.
This game is very pretty, but boring. The jokes dont land and the puzzles never make you go "ah ha!" You will be using the walk through WAY too much and after a while its just not even worth it for the story.
I love the art, story and humor, but my god, the gameplay is 1990's point and click with moon logic. At least, with games like the Walking Dead, Perfect Prosecutor and hell, Sherlock Holmes, they at least DID something to innovate. This is just Monkey Island with HD graphics, that's great for some, but it feels really dated.
eeeeeh ... if im telling that that i whont play deponia again ... sooooooo yea i played, and i didnt like it, again, isnt a bad game, but not a good one. just meeh, ooooh and i didnt even mention ( semi/spoiler ) the complete lack of closure/end ... one thing is to have a open ending ... and a waaaaaaaay diferent is not having one at all, and that is a big fail
rasonable and concrete ? mmmm, i think u r in denial ... or cant read well, i putt pretty good points why deponia is just one more in the bag ... cant understand it ? ur problem ... jajajaj ... stop wasting time on me that u could be using to play such a HUGE game like deponia
Free on Epic for a week. Decided to come here to see if it was any good.
Deponia: The Complete Journey will be free on the epic game store starting April 15 to April 22!
That's exactly what brought me here, sire.
Good looking out 🙌🏽 I almost bought it on switch
I saw this on a switch sale and thought I’d have a look.

U can press spacebar to highlight objects? oh ffs
LOL
I just got to the third game and had no idea this was a thing, hysterical laughter is okay right?
Whats the background music thats playing ?
Where is the background music from?
There is only one Guybrush Threepwood and he is a mighty pirate.
Daniel Martinez Rufus is a more interesting character.
David Umstattd I have been playing the game, and I agree with you now.
Daniel Martinez
I love Guybrush as much as the next guy, but Rufus goes through more of a character arc.
David Umstattd I understand your point of view, and I respect it.
And now ones by Disney, who refuse to give the rights to Ron Gilbert.
I found the game to be frustrating hard.
A Point and Click Adventure game?! Really!?
@@joleo1925 it’s a very...puzzled one
@@leduc6919 try the lucas arts stuff like day of the tentacle. Very similar.
Same, It's pretty difficult for me

Buy this. Then buy the sequel. Then wait until Fall and buy the third one :D
I’m here because the Deponia collection of 4 games is currently (26/12/2023) £3.59 on the Switch a-shop and I was curious to find out what it’s about.
Same
This game does look charming
This is my kind of game. More of this please gaming industry.

The puzzles of this game were soooo bad! I felt like they were designed to be brute forced.

This full series is on humble trove
i am just here for the songs played during the review :)
Its free on epic games so I'm looking it up haha
One of the best german games, a classic :)
Good point here

Thanks guys, now i gotta go spend some more money ;) honestly, great review, can't wait to play this game
Oh Derponia
I really hope the Walking Dead series by Telltale Games succeeds because then maybe they can go right ahead and continue "Tales of Monkey Island".
yikes
Got bad news for you friend..
Also, "apparantly".
did you play the game? cuz if u didnt then I recommend actually PLAY the game first before assuming which kind of game it is!
Urgh.. that opening voice acting and writing were painful.
idk about this one
Haven't played a good adventure game in years, how does this compare to monkey island games?
very good
I thought it was Derpina
Lucas arts?
german version 9.0/10 :P

Been so, so long since I properly played a point and click game.
Thanks Epic games for giving it to me for free!

No you're not.
I just press the scrollwheel, but it took me a while to find out too. *facepalm* xD
Sorry, but your comment Is a complete denial, without showing anything reasonable and concrete.
A spoiler alert would be nice. If I missed it my bad. I'm not sure if I want to continue on with the game.

TOO MANY SPOILERS! damn it!
It's only a dollar on steam for now.

Rufus as a character drove me insane. He is such a terrible person it made it hard to play the game.
