This ending almost makes me cry, maybe because I'm also one of that kind of people that needs to learn and accept that everything comes to an end, and I have to let go...

The elephants never said so, they just wanted revenge because if Rufus survives he manages to launch Elysium to Utopia killing everybody on there, so the Utopians, the last survivors made a time machine to get revenge, and because of that they got stuck in a time loop that never ends and it's just eternal suffering, Rufus explains it. It's not a "Why can't Rufus go on Elysium 😭😭" thing, it's a moral choice, Deponia 1 Rufus would have never let go, he would have never sacrificed but in Deponia 3 he changed, because of everything that has happened, Goal dies, his "dad" tries to kill him, everyone hates him, Bozo and Doc invent an excuse in the hotel to keep him away, he understands what he was doing and has a change of heart, he chooses to sacrifice himself for Goal, instead of inventing weird way to save himself.
