No torque steer because the wheels are 20" and probably heavy. Comparing the chassis feel to Guilia QV is high praise.

This guy is one of the best reviewers out there. Open, honest and covers almost everything you would want or need to know. Should have his own TV program.
Cars drone at low rpm, not high rpm. It has a front mount intercooler, so that hood vent does NOT feed air to the intercooler. The fender vents are to vent heat out the engine bay NOT to cool the brakes.

I feel bad for anybody that buys this car and lives in a suburb, or in any area with a large car enthusiast falling and doesn't have access to a garage because I can almost guarantee that if the owner parks and leaves the car to go shopping or whatever, they'll eventually come back to find that some scumbag took the red Honda badges, lug nuts, wheels, the wing, etc, or something else significant on the car including the car itself.

Ervin0310 yep, the exhaust sounds muffled and gagged. It was the first thing to leave in my car. Sounds better with either a Remus exhaust with 4 valve settings (controlable via smart cell app) or at least after removing the muffler. Had it tuned to 345 hp/485 Nm.... :)

The engine almost sounds N/A even though it's boosted. I'm impressed!
I think the reason the SI sucked so much was they basically put a base engine in it so they could save the 2 liter for the Type R
Also if they put the 2.0 liter in the si, no one would buy the type r and would just mod the si. It helps the type r sales. It would be dope if that offered the NA k24 as an option.

Honda should make an Accord Type R. I have a Touring V6 Sedan but Honda could make an Accord a lot more powerful than 278hp.

Adithya Kombathula so? The Maxima has 300hp and CVT (which is horrible, but efficient). Honda underrates power anyways, the J35 makes 240-260 whp stock. The next gen Accord will be a couple hundred pounds lighter, torquier and just as much hp if not more.
Adithya Kombathula it does help with acceleration though.
The New Accord gets the 2.0t to replace the V6 it'll also have an optional 10 speed so it'll be interesting to see how that'll perform

I love all of this guy's reviews, and great job on this one too! Great looking car, even if it may look a little over done, or over styled, but the saving grace on that note is that everything is actually functional! Dosen't sound over snarly, or droney. I just wish they had given the rear the full LED treatment like the front, and heated front seats would be great!

ronald lazar 4WD isn't a TYPE R thing. It was never AWD, and it will never be.

Definitely the first time it is worth it to visit a Honda dealer since the end of the S2000/K20 Civic production.
Tbh a 2016 camaro ss will be more fun for an average joe as a daily driver. Or a golf R. I feel like this is a very track oriented car with the 20 inch wheels, ultra low profile tires, and the polarizing looks. Although it's not that expensive the speeding tickets and tires alone will keep a lot of people away. It's marketed for enthusiasts only. Def more performance than both aforementioned cars tho.

I live about 10 minutes from where this review was done. So funny to see road i take everyday. Hope Sofyan and the Redline team have enjoy their stay, and excellent review as usual. This Type R have won the right to wear this unique badge, very impressive and almost no torque steer. Good job Honda! Even if you don't need it for performance, the only thing i will complain about his the lack of AWD, because here we live in winter time 6 month/year. So it make everyday driving more safe and easy in harsh condition.
I really like this Honda Civic Type R, however the back of the car really bothers me... it looks really ugly reminds of a riced out Prius from the back, however the front is really neat, sets the aggressive tone the type R needs 👌🏽

5.7 seconds? I believe it's faster than that. the maxima have 300hp and less than 270lb foot of torque and weights in about 500lbs more and have the same 0-60? nah I believe 5 flat for this car
Stevorn Richards I think the 5.7 is 0-62 I believe. So 5.2 - 5.4 in the US may be doable.
Car and Driver just tested it. It was exactly 5 seconds.
Stevorn Richards forget about 0-60. The highway takeover power that this car has puts the competition into shame just wait for the 30-60 or anything that doesnt require a launch from 0. You will be dissapointed by the competition AWD performance in those categories.

Great review and awesome car. Only thing i dont like is the FWD. But that gives an alternative for those who don't want AWD. Well done by honda.
The V-Tec is only on the outlet valve side, not on the intake side. So the turbo lag is significantly reduced, but there won't be a typical boost over 6000 rpm. It is not necessary due to the loader.
Would you suggest this car to a new driver like me in (manual)? Or Civic SI? Or a hatchback sport? Please and thank you for your advice.

Was going to trade my 2008 G37S for a newer G37XS or Q60S w/AWD (before restyle) and put headers, Procharger, some susp/trans work, etc. But, thinking I may not have the time left, I got a 2017 Camaro SS - 455 HP/Tq, better tech/everything out of the box.

I just hope Honda realizes that it's time to start bringing back sporty cars in its lineup again. It has been so damn long and now we have someone that is pretty cool and the demand is insane. I just hope they learn from this and bring us more sporty cars again.
Umm, that hood scoop is not functional. It's just an accent because the intercooler is a front mount and not a top mount like the Subarus.
When there's a hood scoop "for the intercooler" but the intercooler is a FMIC (in the front by the bumper) ...and when he pops the hood, there is no hole for the hood scoop...or am i blind? lol

No sure if its the same with the Type R, but on the Evo X the hood scoop was to bring air to the turbo.
one thing I noticed is that the gauges look different than its European counterpart and its very nice its keeping it with its other civic models 😍

A Civic Type-R is a car in the lineage of all Type-Rs which Honda built in the 90s when they had many F1 successes. A Focus by comparison is a shopping trolley without meaning. Know your Honda history please.

John Ye don't worry about the exhaust lol. An aftermarket catback will solve that problem easily. You don't see people complaining about the sound of BRZs or WRXs. Stock 2.0T always sounds like crap.
