Beautiful advanture bro. Terima kasih banyak buat Fransisco, abang rujak dan yang lainnya yang telah menunjukan keramahan budaya Indonesia kepada orang asing.
That 'juicy potato' is Bengkuang. According to google, the English word for it is 'Jicama' AKA 'Mexican Turnip'. That Yellow melon with seeds is a Yellow Watermelon. The tiny mango-like fruit is Kedondong, or "Ambarella" according to google. When he said 'Asam', he was referring to the taste, which is sour. Asam means sour, but it can also mean Acid, depending on the context. The pinkish-salt is an integral part of the rujak along with the sambal, which in this case is made from generous proportion of coconut sugar mixed with chili. Without these two, Rujak would only be a jumbled heap of sweet, sour, and bland taste-wise. People sometimes buy just the fruits though.

I watched his adventures in Pakistan where a bunch of random students he met at a local shop showed him around their theatre school and then I kept watching his videos because they're so unique. Instead of aesthetically pleasing editing, poetic voice overs and visiting the most obvious places, he shows cities that don't get that much attention and he shows the locals in their day to day life within the heart of it all and he really dives DEEP into it, even gets invited to many places you'd otherwise never come if it wasn't for him taking you there with him. He never acts like he's too good to meet anyone or to try anything new. He's a very authentic person who's comfortable with himself, which is why he's so respected by everyone he meets, in whatever country. I love his channel!

thank u homie, here in Indonesia also have a badside u know that? so u still take care if you in Indonesia. Me as a Indonesian very very welcome to Tourist❤️
Salam Alikoum Indonesia 🖐️from 🏴 Scotland. Another good video Dale.👍 In UK 🥑 avocado prices were around 80p last time I checked. I love anything with nuts..chicken satay is very good.👍 The hat you bought really suits you.👍
I think the reason you got such a huge followers is because is a sense of adventure on your vlog, as you stumble your way through a foreign culture and yet appreciate all of the ups and downs you discover. I suppose even the extraterrestrials would find your vlogs interesting!
43:10 I also find it weird when l found out internationally avocados used in salad, sauce, and other foods with salty seasonings. Indonesians are more familiar to use avocado in sweets rather than salty foods. The most popular one is 'jus alpukat' or avocado smoothie. It's just avocado blended with sugar, ice, and condensed milk. Anyways it's nice to see foreigners travel other parts of Indonesia, not just Bali. Hope you enjoy your visit in this beautiful country!
You got all of your stuffs in local price, that is very nice! Btw, Indonesian home kit is the red one. Next time when you go to Bandung or Yogyakarta, don't forget to buy Batik shirt and put your peci/songkok on! You will get an authentic Pak Lurah (Head of Indonesian Regency) looks, a batik shirt + peci. Looking forward to your next video, Dale!
Yes you are correct..Red is home kit for Indonesia which I got yesterday from Pasar turi baru Surabaya.guy charged me IDR 105k(May be because I’m foreigner)but I’m super happy to got Indonesian national football jersey.
@@arunhanglimbu666 don't be sad, you could be having better quality. However, it is normal if you buy imported goods (jerseys mostly come from Thailand) with higher price outside Jakarta. Most of Indonesian vendors/sellers buy their products from Tanah Abang market, then sell them to the other cities in Indonesia. IDR 105k is a quite fair price, because I had my IDR 120k jersey with super nice quality, almost perfect, they say it was a mirror quality jersey.
@@anosawibasaputra9621 I’m not sad but super happy to get the jersey I even ask seller for white(away kit)but it’s sold out.Yes IDR 105K is fair price for me too and looking forward to buy away kit also here in Madiun where I’m now actually at.
Salut sama penjual jerseynya, kemampuan bahasa inggris dan pengetahuan soal sepak bolanya bagus sekali sehingga kita bisa menikmati percakapan mereka ber dua
Hi Dale, im indonesian but live in malaysia, this rujak is totally different like the one in penang. Once i visited penang and there was "ROJAK" i thought it will be the same like the one in indonesia, but i figure out that it's different. "RUJAK" in indonesia is with brown sugar sauce (sometime mixed with peanut) which make it a sweet dish and contains only fruits, meanwile ROJAK in penang is with more too savoury peanut sauce :)
thanks Dale, you have introduced a little about Indonesia to the world, for hunting hat Songkok of Soekarno and jersey Indonesia national team football. of course we waiting for your next trip Bandung city. enjoy your adventure in Indonesia. Terima kasih
Just love to see that peci fit so much and proper to you. Added with garuda as national emblem made your point to wear that hat as soekarno hat/ indonesia national identity hat as dhaka to nepalese as you said, not as a religious expression (only) as sometimes biased mistakenly by some few people including local Secondly, its more lovely to see what you did to 'small people' or 'orang kecil' (the word you forgotten and thus questioned by you many times on video 😂) refer to their socioeconomic status and resources they have. Wether its inherently and typically a culture back to your hometown, or maybe you get it along your trips around the world, or just simply imitate what our people do, its just so pleasant to see how you quite royally give the extra to rujak vendor, to fruit soup seller, to grab driver and to the porter ( though to this last one I am not sure if he really hope to get a tip from you too or just wanna to help you voluntarily). In Indonesia there is no culture to give tip. But we do recognize the word of berbagi berkat or berbagi rejeki, simply meaning of to share the blessing. We give to them ('small people') an extra especially whenever they give us excellent service. They are hard workers to mostly earn subsistent living if not a decent one. Not a thief or doing business dishonestly. A little extra from us can be a big meaning treat for them or even for their families, who knows. And by doing so (share blessings) we believe that we will get easiness to get another blessing in the other form and from the sources we even unknow it or dont expect it, in positive sense for sure
After seeing a lot of negative experiences all day on UA-cam and having my own in North Africa, I am glad that I finally saw a real beautiful vacation with no scammers or pestering people just following your around.
You are right, Dale. Peci is for Nationalists. My Grandpa used to wear it, although He was a Christian from Batak. Nice vlog as always bro. It is nice that you appreciate all the Founding Fathers of the countries that you visit.
I think the Garuda pin if you buy it at an online store is only around 8,000 rupiah to 15,000 rupiah. but yeah, that's okay, luckily you bargained from the previous price asking for 50,000 rupiah, if you buy without Bargaining is very expensive for me, but whatever it is, welcome to Indonesia.
But luckily Soekarno's hat costs around 50,000 at an online store. Yes, it could be because buying offline or directly the price can be up to 60,000-70,000 rupiah
Belum keren belum datang ke daerah Sumatra Utara kab Asahan di Indonesia banyak kuliner makanan dan pariwisata yg di akuin internasional bro g. Melihat ke mari belum keren Chanel nya
There are several types of shopping centers in Indonesia. Aside from major malls with shops on the side, the shopping center you visited is an 'ITC', which is basically a hybrid between traditional market and the typical air-conditioned mall. Not an actual 'Mall'. As to why you found it similar to the one in Thailand, no it's not a copy, it so happens that you can find similar places across Southeast Asia. An ITC is usually less organized (hence no tight screenings, usually) and less fancy than an actual mall On the 'Indonesian take on sarongs' (or sarung, in Indonesian spelling), those are simply long skirts Dale :D. Here, Sarong is Sarong. Avocado here isn't as expensive in other countries, and here we consider it as a fruit and we use it in beverages and desserts. One iconic national drink from Indonesia is in fact the Avocado Juice, normally served with condensed plain/chocolate milk. Give it a try sometime. It's also a top menu in many Indonesian restaurants overseas. :D. Eating it with either Salmon and Cheese or Sugar and Milk is basically just a matter of cultural difference, which eventually defines palate in the long run. But it may also be true that the avocadoes grown in the west (and the more developed northeast asia) is different to the ones found in Indonesia and southeast asia in general to the point that it affects the kinds of dishes one can come up with.
@@Dale_Philip this is going to sound a bit strange: International Trade Center. Yes, I know, the 'trade center' part sells, but international? well, product-wise (somewhat) and by aspirations at least. lol. The term, alongside the sometimes used 'WTC' (yep, world trade center, and not in reference to THE WTC in any way), has been commonly used since the 90s (ITC being more common) to refer to shopping centers of the same looks. Apparently people have indeed been ignoring the inherent inaccuracy and settled with it as a particular term without ever questioning what the acronym stands for and the reasoning behind it. There's an even older term for this kind of shopping center which also didn't make much sense: Pasar Pagi, which literally translates as 'Morning Market'. The term died out and got replaced with ITC/WTC following the success of one of the ITCs in the past.

bro, for me, as an Indonesian people, i like it spicy. the combination of crunchy from kacang or nuts, and then spicy from the chili, mixed with the sweetness of mango and the unique flavor of bengkuang, this taste is irreplaceable even for indonesian like me. oh, also try kue bulan and martabak if you like sweet foods. but so much calories in there
My God, you're really invincible and handsome in that hat, it seems you are a very suitable person to wear a hat! That box of Rojak looks delicious, and so cheap! The second item in my country is to put very crushed ice under the fruit, we name it fruit ice, not fruit soup! And in Asia, avocado is usually considered a fruit, not a vegetable! Congrats on finally finding the jersey you want, what a fantastic trip! Have a beautiful life, take care! 👍😃🙌

Best way to start my Sunday morning with some adventurous video, thanks man, greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
I think the reason you got such a huge followers is because is a sense of adventure on your vlog, as you stumble your way through a foreign culture and yet appreciate all of the ups and downs you discover. I suppose even the extraterrestrials would find your vlogs interesting!

I also find it weird when l found out internationally avocados used in salad, sauce, and other foods with salty seasonings.

Dale, i actually don’t expect that you looks hella good with songkok! 😂
all the interactions between dale and the locals in this are so incredibly wholesome. great people. Big W to the guys at the fruit stand.
No music and no short cuts, your videos is just fantastic.
Wonderfull journey mate , lovely yo see u again
Just love to see that peci fit so much and proper to you. Added with garuda as national emblem made your point to wear that hat as soekarno hat/ indonesia national identity hat as dhaka to nepalese as you said, not as a religious expression (only) as sometimes biased mistakenly by some few people including local
Secondly, its more lovely to see what you did to 'small people' or 'orang kecil' (the word you forgotten and thus questioned by you many times on video 😂) refer to their socioeconomic status and resources they have.

Seneng banget liat nya, orang indo nya positif semua 😂

There are several types of shopping centers in Indonesia. Aside from major malls with shops on the side, the shopping center you visited is an 'ITC', which is basically a hybrid between traditional market and the typical air-conditioned mall. Not an actual 'Mall'. As to why you found it similar to the one in Thailand, no it's not a copy, it so happens that you can find similar places across Southeast Asia. An ITC is usually less organized (hence no tight screenings, usually) and less fancy than an actual mall
On the 'Indonesian take on sarongs' (or sarung, in Indonesian spelling), those are simply long skirts Dale :D.
Thanks for the info, Oswin. What does the acronym ITC stand for?
