I was 16 when this was on the Judy Garland Show around Christmas or New Years and my parents were watching. As a teenager I loved the song, but thought the dancers looked too old and the moves were spastic and corny. My parents thought they were wonderful! About a month or two later the British invasion would begin and we would be watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show! February 9,1964! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! 🇬🇧 ❤
Excellent commentary. This incredibly energetic dance routine perfectly compliments the song. I've watched this many times and it always gets me tapping and smiling.
Great depth with analogy on this song and skit. There is a lot involved and Bobby Banas decided to fall in after one dancer didn`t show. Still shows the talent of these two front dancers.
Yep Bobby Banas was a well respected dancer /choreographer ...did loads of movies such as west side story, Mary poppins (as one of the chimney sweeps in the step in time number) and many more! He also apeared in a lot of stage musicals too such as Annie get your gun , brigadoon and kis me kate to name a few en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Banas
You should check out the TAMI Show from 1964. Great performances by Stones, Chuck Berry, Supremes, Miracles Gerry and The Pacemakers and more! Lots of these silly dances, too.
Good song tho it's totally forgotten. Glad you reacted to it I'm listening to music over 60 years so I know practically most songs ever recorded. The NAME GAME by Shirley may peak viewers interest. A very good one hit wonder in 68 is Shame Shame by the Magic Lanterns. Appreciate if you would react to it.
Bobby Banas is the front dancer who choreographed the Nitty Gritty. Great dancer. Can't take my eyes off of him. The girl next to him looks too robotic for my taste.
I remember those wonderful days. I am 80.
That lead fellow is extraordinary!!!!!
Bobby Banas !
Bobby B choreographed this. Love it 🙌
The guy who stole the show was Bobby Banas. He was also an actor. Was in Westside Story and other movies.
Wow. Thx
Bobby Banas choreographed this dance and is the dancer in front. The woman dancing with him is his wife. He was, indeed, in West Side Story.
@@kimberlymoore8933Her name is Gina Trikonis, and she also was in West Side Story.
He was also a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins.
RIP Bobby Banas 1933-2024
Bobby Banas is the dancer in front. I think he was 30 at the time. Google him; he was amazing and in a bunch of movies. I love watching him.

Bob was amazing
@@mikecio1I have heard he is on Instagram. He isn't dead
Nitty Gritty dance made me think of John Water's "Hairspray."
The good old days when car radios were push button AM with just three stations to constantly switch through and a single speaker in the dash.
this guy definitely stole the show !!!
I greatly love watching them dance. It seems like he giving cues for the next dance steps to her and cues to the dancers in the back?
He choreographed it

It WAS choreographed. By Bobby Banas the middle dancer. How else could they all be doing the same movements at the same time??
The chick? Wow
it's the Elaine dance from, Seinfedl!
The Johnny Cash lookalike is pretty good too. Unfortunately, the women like chickens.
Err, um … interesting historical artefact …
il y en a un qui danse on dirait un débile profond tout droit sorti de l'asile 😆😆😆
