I just watched Ann-Margaret with gorgeous 30-year-old French actor Alain Delon in the 1965 film Once a Thief. OMG. Delon was world's most beautiful--what a man! And look at young Richard Crenna here. Perspective on dance: Rudy Valentino's now-famous Tango was illegal as too provocative in the early 1920s.' He danced it beautifully anyway.
I've always felt that if she had been around a decade earlier she would have become a much bigger star. It's just that there were a lot more musicals in the 50s. But then again, she's certainly proven herself as an actress: an Emmy and two Oscar nominations!
They had grace and style--haven't seen that in a while (out of all the pop and sexualized videos which are crude and rude, bellowing out lyrics about genitals and sex--violent gyrations and obscene moves--but here are men who are slim, and fun and moving with animated pep--Margaret is so light, graceful, beautiful and looks like she's floating in some of the dance moves. So wonderful. I can't watch current dance videos without feeling slightly nauseous from all the focus on sexuality and body parts--so lacking in beauty and grace and happiness. What a kind relief to watch this clip and realize that once upon a time there were people who could actually dance, look "sexy" but without obscene movements or lyrics.
@@toomanyhobbies2011 True, she made a great living in Vegas but she made numerous Hollywood movies that were popular. AM was nominated for an acting Oscar for her performance in Carnal Knowledge, appearing very nude in maybe three scenes.
Careful that we don't turn Latin dancing into "lewd gyrations" but I get you. Tweaking is from the islands, and I love dance enough to open my mind to different perceptions from different cultures, but I don't see men in lingerie onstage so often. It does seem that female artists, even good ones, are expected to be hypersexual. Males hyper violent and macho. That's too bad for everyone because, as you described, it lacks joy
what a shame we dont have these kinds of venues anymore where you can go for dinner but end up parting the crowd with your impromptu dance performances hahahaha
Mongo Santamaría (congas) and his band. With Marty Sheller (trumpet), Carmelo García (drums/timbales), Bobby Capers and Hubert Laws (saxes), Victor Venegas (bass) and Rodgers Grant (piano). The music they play is from The Pussycat album.
When ann Margaret got look in her eyes watch out all h was going to brake out she is the best ❤ ann Margaret 2024 and she is still on fire love all ways burn baby burn . 3:07
Baila, canta,actúa...todo lo hace magnifico; gracia y femineidad incomparable, además bellísima Gracias Ann Margret !!! Mis mejores saludos para esta maravillosa mujer, desde Santiago de Chile
Though this dance seemed a bit provocative for that era, a dancer from nowadays would probably have had them all running & seeking counseling, etc. 💃 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣
The title song is by Burt Bacharach. Don't think he wrote the music for this dance though. His best soundtrack: Buch Cassidy and Sundance Kid. Best movie song: April Fools (even if he was in the final run and/or won with other ones).
I see her and a house painter doing similar jobs. Both are doing prescribed strokes for that paycheck. Both could be thinking, when lunch would be available. So for additional entertainment, also watch a house painter. Remember, acting is a job, like any job for a paycheck
This is one of my favourite dance scenes. I've watched it so many times. She is so terrific.
Big fans may also recognize Bobby Banas in there!
Was that Louis Jordan
@@nazariodelia yes, he's great in this film.
@@mandisteppingoutvintage very big Banas fan here!
Always a favorite !
Still a beauty in 2022 !
Wow, that’s Bobby Banas dancing with Ann! Great dancer.

I have always thought the same thing
I definitely agree!
She wouldve been reined wayyyy in.
She was good in Tommy.

She was a singer/dancer. He acting was good too, but she landed in Las Vegas and made her millions there. Not all talent is wasted in Hollywood.
I take it you don't like Dirty Dancing, lol.

I love 60s dancing.

I can dig it. When movies, were movies.
Ann-Margret has got all the moves, and she knows how to move them all. Ann-Margret is totally HOT !!!

Did Hubert Laws double on flute? Or was it dubbed?
@@atelierteale8012 Yes, Hubert Laws played flute and Piccolo also in Mongo's band.

She became bonafide in Carnal Knowledge
no to mention Mongo Santamaria making a guest appearance, his band is in top form here........
MarkinDC Appreciate the heads up! I didn't actually know who the band was.
Kristin Wigg on SNL had the dance down to perfection.
Let's make this happen!

La mejor de todos los tiempos
This when women were classy sophisticated ladies 👍🏽
Love her🙏🏻❤️🌹
Awesome these dancing movies from the 70s were amazing
This movie is from 1966, actually.
Sin ninguna duda , una artista completa...admirable..👏👏👏
A mesmerising lady!
Anne Margaret could dance
In the Gogo time of shaking the Groove moves.
She gave the best 👌 👍 😍

Ahhh, the good old 60's and 70's - where middle-aged men in their 40's and 50's lear after young girls half their age!
And they still do in 2023
More show than go dancing. Life was much simpler then and with moderate talent you could be a star.
She reminds me of today’s Julianne Hough, they are both beautiful and dance great.
I saw that to they look a lot a like good eyes 2:46
was called the female Elvis.
Yowza!
Bobby Banas
What a gorgeous charming, classy.woman.wow
Fantastic video! Anne Margareth is such a great artist. A still beautiful and sexy woman in her mature days.
what did you expect from Luke McCoy? All he ever had was sugar babe Kate and Hassey to practicing dancing.
A absolutely stunning ,sexy ,talented actress
Now I see where Austin Powers got his mojo from.
I copy Her Dancing She's the Bes. ❤
Is that Bobby Banas (nitty gritty) at 1:10?
Yeah! He danced like he was made out of rubber.
👏👏👏👏🌹

Elvis's bigest mistake
