Whenever I hear or read about a bassist who’s been proclaimed the newest top player that nobody could possibly out maneuver on stage, I pull up a the JEB playing live and I just chuckle as I try to remember the new guy’s name! I’ve seen so many big name bassist and the Ox’s right hand speed still amazes me!
RIP Ox!
John Entwistle is such a natural musician.
*was*
@@greatunz67 Ok Sadly Entwistle is no longer with us.
Who put in a huge amount of work building on his talent.
@@notanotheraccount Very true.
Imagine Entwistle playing with the Grateful Dead.
Never thought we’d see this, never knew this existed, never knew he played this!
Thanks very much from a long time fan of the Ox!
I was at that gig.
Thx for the memories
I photographed this show, you can see my in the pit at 10:48, the short guy with the backpack and camera! Thanks SO much for posting!!! I haven't ever seen this!
Damn, Entwistle is fast!!!!!!! I never got to see any Quadrophenia when I saw the Who. This is a treat!
Nobody got to see Quadrophenia with John Entwistle. They only toured it after John died.
@@marthaworc7873 Not true. They tried to tour it in 1973, only doing a few shows before being stopped by technical issues. Years later, they did a proper tour of Quadrophenia in 1996 (Around the time Zak Starkey joined), still before Entwistle died.
@@Kpengie I will look for clips of that.
@@marthaworc7873 The '96 version (featuring John Entwistle and Zak Starkey): ua-cam.com/video/WHm_pIw62EU/v-deo.html
There are also bootlegs of the 1973 live performances, but they're all of pretty poor quality.
@@Kpengie Thanks.
This is a treat to watch. Wish I had the chance to see John Entwistle.😊
The only thing linking Woodstocks 69,94 and 99, other than name, was The Ox.
Wowow i finally got to see the full gig, thank you for this awesome stuff fellow ox fan, cheers.
Love his bass guitar he’s using 🖤🕷
sad that they don't make them anymore:( saw a used one and it costs $7k :'
The Real Me always kills.
Fantastic! Thank you.
i wonder if it was loud enough..i went to woodstock in 94 swore I`d never set foot in another big crowd again as long as i lived..nothing that happened in 99 surprised me
Have you been enjoying the documentaries on it?
@@Genious. I have no idea what you`re really asking but no..I watched this one for 30 secs because i liked Entwistle..if there is one thing I learned in 94 it is that there is no hope for this country
@@douglasthompson8927 There are just a couple of documentaries about Woodstock 99 (because, for some reason, everything needs a competing documentary now). Anyway, I knew 99 was bad, but had no idea the extent of it.
And I am with you on the hopelessness. So much so that I moved to Canada.
@@Genious. how hard was it to immigrate ? I`ve thought about it for a long time but I grew up in florida..i`m not sure i could deal with the weather
@@douglasthompson8927 I't was fairly simple for me but I had an employer do all of the work, and was already half working here in music/writing anyway. I'm in Toronto where the winters aren't that bad (I came from New York) but coming from Florida - it might be a bit intense. But you'll breeze through the 2 month summer where people are griping about the humidity. I had already been thinking about it for a long time but then I heard Rogan on his podcast say 'Canada is just like America, but with 40% fewer douchebags'. And for just an offhand comment, it really did connect with me and I said 'Yeah, it IS just like that'.
First song sounded like he was going to break out into Zero the Hero
Thank you SO much for posting this. How did you get ahold of it?!
I have it on DVD. I stumbled upon it on amazon a few years ago when it was going for 20 quid. Now it's either very expensive or just completely unavailable ! It's one of my prized possessions.
Wow incredible, I had no idea it was on dvd! I wonder how it got released, because Steve didn’t want this to be released
@@andyserfes4884Why did Steve not want this show to be released? It’s great.
Woodstock '99, was that the chaotic festival i've heard about?
As a solo act, Entwistle surrounded himself with dorks (in his bands)...wonder if it was on purpose
I don't think it was purposeful, though obviously he didn't want to surround himself with musicians who might upstage him. His primary aim was probably finding good yes-men types who could also be drinking partners.
@@billofbton4502 that's plausible
Who are the other two members of the band? Love and Miss the Ox.
3. There's a keyboardist too. It's probably:
John Entwistle - lead vocals, backing vocals, 8-string bass guitar, bass guitar
Godfrey Townsend - guitar, backing vocals
Steve Luongo - drums, backing vocals
Gordon Cotten - keyboards, backing vocals
@@Rumtoad1 Godfrey Townsend - lead vocals, guitar, backing vocals
