Yes, many people who start in the career don't do it for very long because it's actually a very difficult job and life for many people...it is not for everyone.😎🐳🌊⚓️🚢🐋
As someone who feels overwhelmed by the many facets of life, I am so envious of your life and the solitary feeling that these videos invoke. Please keep posting so I can continue to find that escape through your content even if I'm stuck on dry land.
thank you so much for sharing that and I will continue to make the best escapes from reality as I can. I need it myself all the time. have an awesome day and hope to see ya soon again.
Thanks for the tour Jeff! I always enjoy these. I've lived in 3 different states (USA) and 2 of them were on the west coast, but now I'm in a landlocked state and it's very different not having the ocean nearby as a friend and spiritual companion. That's why I appreciate these videos so much.

I have had quarters on ships like this, private room with private head/shower, all the way to sharing a space with who knows how many other dudes, and sharing a shower and head as well.... I got stuck on a chase boat once for 6 weeks, one of my best trips ever, but damn, close quarters.... the Hal Callais, in the GOM.... crewed by cajuns so the food was REALLY good, compared to the polish and norwegian cooks on some other vessels whose idea of a good meal was boiled fish and boiled potatoes.... and that cabbage is ALWAYS an acceptable substitute for lettuce, and that corn was an appropriate topping for pizza.....
Yes you absolutely need to have your own room and head while you are on a ship or it is just no fun. As you know if the food is not good that is also a morale destroyer. 😎🐳🌊⚓️🚢
Looks like a bigger than average cabin. Would be nice if all cabins just had a fan and TV as those are bulky to lug from contract to contract. I'm planning to bring a tiny fan that recharges with a USB to USB-C and utilize my laptop if there is no TV. I've been looking into buying downloadable movies to prepare for those internetless days lol. I've not had any luck finding legal means of purchasing any yet but I do have an external drive and thumb drive ready for whoever will share their movie collections with me. I report to Piney Point Next month. Stoked!!
A lot of times there are TVs in the cabins but I was in a different room this time so I did not have one but I just watched things on my laptop. I went through a Union training program to start
Looks the same as you last cabin tour. Very nice. Way more room than I’ve seen on other ships. Does your room lock from the outside while you’re working? Or only from the inside while you’re in it?
Most of the cabins are like this but the captain and chief engineer and chief mate and first engineer are bigger because they also have an office attached 😎🚢🐳⚓️🌊
Yes when they do clock changes on the ship they set the time on that clock so you don't have to do anything... they change the clock on the bridge during watch😎🌊⚓️🐳🚢
Thank you again, for the great room tour on your ship. Is this room bigger than the other ones you’ve had on the other ships? Or is it about the same size?
do you do 12hrs on 12 off? do you have crew changes at the dock or by helo? I sure do miss being underway and working offshore... best time of my life, travelling the world...
We have a standard 8-hour work day and overtime is optional... there are sometimes that you just have to work like when fueling the ship or Mooring operations things like that but generally it is optional to work overtime.😎🐳🌊⚓️🚢
Hello mate! May I ask what your your position is if you don’t mind. That one looks like a C/O or C/E cabin at least 😮. Also I’m very interested in working at Maersk, do you think they hire deck cadets? Best regards!
Yes while I was away last time I made a short video where I showed the fitness gym and one of my upcoming videos I also show some of it check out the short videos you will see it
Great question, so the bunk cards basically tell what you do and what your duties are during emergency drills, things like fire drills and Abandon Ship drills. 😎⚓️🐳⚓️🌊
Every ship I get on the pressure is just great and no problem adjusting the water temperature the way I like it I never seem to have any problem if I did I would adjust it.😎🐳🌊⚓️🚢🐋
@@JeffOnboard I've been to many places in the world and its usually a hit and miss. Some places I felt I was blown out of the shower the pressure was so strong, and other I felt I was under a clogged hose. A good shower always boosts morale.
I believe the nimitz-class aircraft carriers were about 333 M long and the newer Gerald Ford is about 337 M long and my Last Ship just in reference is about 300 M long
@@JeffOnboard thanks, massive, how long it takes to do a loop walking? Been on a smaller cruise ship, and scuba vessel, and boat from Long Beach to Catalina Got rocking port to starboard then stem to stern, seas were ruff, walked like I’d been drinking for half hour 😳 thanks for the time, p.s. how’s the galley?
Cosy! I'm a little surprised the bunk doesn't have much to stop you from rolling out of bed in rough seas - is that ever an issue or just an ignorant lubber's question?
I have been on ships with that and it was annoying to me really. I can not remember any time I wished I had it. Most of the time it really is not bad as many think. These are large ships. Some rolls actually make me sleep better....
One can almost call that a stateroom. As I have said in the past it surely beats the cabins of yesteryear. My cabin on the Green Island was not even half the size of your's today and you shared a head with the cabin next to you. Not to mention forget about a fridge in your room. Then again Maersk has always had some of the best house's on a merchant ship. Thanks for the great video. I would love this lifestyle. As a single man who has nothing holding him back it would be great to travel the world like this.

Glad you liked it and thank you for your support of the channel my friend. ALWAYS good seeing you. Cheers...
What a nice room! I've seen other videos of ships and I haven't seen any cabins that were as attractive and cozy.
Yes, that was a really nice cabin....😎🚢⚓️🌊🐋
Nice room, better than most I have seen in shipping videos.
I normally sell container ships and these are pretty typical rooms for a container ship
Your well organized Jeff... Nice video, thanks for posting.

It can be locked from inside and also outside just like at home...
How many cabins like this are on your ship? Is there a ranking system to get better ones, maybe better locations?
Most of the cabins are like this but the captain and chief engineer and chief mate and first engineer are bigger because they also have an office attached 😎🚢🐳⚓️🌊
Is the ship's clock dictated by the current time zone? Automatically changes when the vessel crosses over? Thanks for sharing.
Yes when they do clock changes on the ship they set the time on that clock so you don't have to do anything... they change the clock on the bridge during watch😎🌊⚓️🐳🚢
All it needs to complete vibe is a lava lamp and some bead curtains.

Wow! I'm so jealous. I work for NOAA, and my state room is a quarter of that room, and I have to share it with someone. What type of ship is that?
I always see the NOAA ships when downtown in Norfolk, VA....yes very small vessels

Are there any kind of fitness facilities on board this and other typical merchant vessels?
Yes while I was away last time I made a short video where I showed the fitness gym and one of my upcoming videos I also show some of it check out the short videos you will see it
What is on the bunk cards?
Great question, so the bunk cards basically tell what you do and what your duties are during emergency drills, things like fire drills and Abandon Ship drills. 😎⚓️🐳⚓️🌊
Geeze…it’s bigger than what you’d get on a cruise ship
Yes because Merchant vessels generally carry only 20 person crews therefore much more space to have a larger cabin.😎🐋🐳🌊⚓️🚢
Do you get internet access? I hear that Starlink is becoming a popular and accessible choice for ships these days
Yes, Starlink
@@JeffOnboard Do you pay for the internet? How much do they charge?
