Damn, the FU-2 sounds great! It's a lot less raspy and has a lot more mids than the FZ-2 and the SF-300 which really helps to fill out the sound. I never would have thought of using a Baxandall in place of the gyrator-based EQ in the original. Definitely a clever take on a great design!

Indiana here. Favorite out of the 3 is the FU-2! We use it on a few songs on our EP, TEAM HOSS “Molten Riffs of Fury”. (Shameless plug) We currently are in the process writing 3 new songs with it! Best pedal we have on our boards. We have figured out that you have to learn how to play with that pedal and really emphasize its sounds on chords and notes. That pedal recently blew 2 of the dust cones right off my Celestions V30’s!!! We have just upgraded our speakers! Great video Jason! Thanks for making fantastic effects! Thanks for inspiring us with your circuit designs.

Fuzzlord Effects We purchased Eminence Swamp Thangs, Man O Wars and installed some vintage Peavey G12 Clones. 4 cabs total. My Mesa cab has the Swamp Thangs and Man O Wars in a X pattern. The other cab I’m using is a old Crete with Celestion G12’s. 2 other cabs are filled with V30’s.
And empress rising for me 2. Best riff to test new gear.

Oooh. I feel all warm & fuzzy for some reason. ;) Watching from Liverpool U.K. & I also heard that about the tooth in the spray can somewhere? On the Simpsons maybe or some where like that? Any band that rocks a fuzz pedal is alright by me. You also have a little fuzz on your face there! ;)
I love my Behringer pedals! Yeah they are made from plastic but the value for money is awesome man! I also have the gamechanger plasma which I just had to buy for my birthday treat because its like a fuzz pedal made by Dr Frankenstein! Expensive as shit though! They have a new one out in collaboration with Jack White & Third Man. The new one is even gnarlier! Gonna be skint again after buying that! Lol. ;) The super fuzz is so cool though for £20!
Loss of mids seems to be a real problem with alot of the iconic fuzzs. This is one reason I love my tc rusty fuzz, as it doesn't negatively tamper with the tone. It also cleans up well for fuzz so you can play chords, stacks well, but still gets filthy. It's no hyperfuzz though. I would love an FU-2 someday.
Hey, watching from South Jersey, LOVE both the FZ-2 and the Behringer SF300 I've been a big Electric Wizard fan for a long time so I got to go with those and honestly cant notice that much of a difference. I feel the FZ-2 may have a little tiniest bit more fuzz to it but not enough to make a great difference. Behringer SF300 Defiantly sounds almost identical. Just love that dense fuzz sound it gives off.

Good Job Jason! I'm here in Secaucus, NJ and tbh I like all 3. I personally prefer the FU-2 sound, and the Boss has this low end that is very gutsy. I heard the sound from Electric Wizard first, then Monolord. Also, Drugula is my go to play along song from EW so kudos for breaking out those riffs 🤘🤘

Watching from Gresham, OR. Just bought a fuzzlord drone master! Love it, only feedback is I wish the cable jacks were on the sides vs on the top to keep my pedal board ceaner and and work nicer with my other pedals that all have cable jacks on the sides.

Great video! I have a Boss FZ-2 and find that it needs a clean amp to sound best. Also, it seems to get muddy when the bass on my amps is too high. How does the FU-2 handle an amp with a little breakup?

hey jason - really like what you are doing over there... been considering a fu2 and / or fet120. i wonder, at some point, could you do a video showing a compilation of your pedals but with standard or d# tuning? i love heavy fuzz but my band doesnt downtune, seems all the good demos by you and your team are all down a couple steps. keep it up man!

I think you accomplished your goals, 100%.
In the end I prefer the OG, but that’s because of two reasons:
1. I have a very complicated setup of effects running in parallel and the sizzle,y… cybernetic sound slots in as the final component.
2. Make knobs go up and has Ministry.
Just found your channel, I don't have a lot of time to listen to UA-cam, but I think your Fuzz is the best in this video. I'm not sure if Matt from Sleep uses this pedal of not, but I can hear similar tones between it and the rift from Dopesmoker. I just got a Super Fuzz clone in the mail today! :O Cheers!

I use the Behringer mode 2 on my Laney AOR 50. Bass boost pulled on top of that through the gain channel. All the preamps pulled and boosted into an Orange 212 Super dark dripping with gain. As thick as a cement shake.
That setup paired with my Peavey 6505+ , OCD overdrive, pushed mids and treble, engaged bright switch, also on the high gain channel into a Mesa 212. Lots of clarity and definition. All of this stacked up and blended together is ear porn. When im riffing both on the high gain, it'll make your wallpaper curl. Set wet/dry Also split into a bass emulator to a darkglass preamp and 210 bass combo... Doom!!! GasMule on Instagram if you want to hear it fired up

Hi Jason! First of all thank you very much for the channel I really like it.
I wanted to ask you what you think about stacking the SF300 with other pedals ?, if it can be interesting and with which pedals you recommend it. I have tried to put behind it a vemuram jan ray (tube screamer type) and I like it a lot, it resembles mode 1 but richer. I also put a pharaoh (Rams head big muff) behind it and it sounds very sludge :)
Do you have any advice to make it sound better?

Electric Wizard ftw! Both the Boss pedal and the FU-2 pedal sound great. Your pedal is tighter though. Probably easier to record with. I took a look at the super fuzz circuit and it's pretty whacky, but that octave up transistor pair is a neat trick. Great stuff!

I ordered a Behringer SF-300. Because they are gaining popularity, I’m waiting for them to re-stock before my order is shipped. I also ordered an EQD Acapulco Gold (based on the Sunn Model T) to run it into. I’m psyched! I had to revisit this video ... again. I plan on running the SF-300 into the Acapulco Gold as a fuzz, and also as a boost. If both prove to be usable, it only makes sense to buy another, especially at roughly $25.

The FU-2 has the most presence, the SF-300 has a nice ooze, and the FZ-2 is the crispiest. I have an SF-300 and it's great. I also like fuzz 1, so I'd probably stick with the SF-300 or the OG, but for pure Fuzz 2 live, the FU-2 probably projects the best. For whatever reason, I think the SF-300 sounds gets the best actual Shin-Ei/Univox sounds.

I want one of each. They all sound great. I didn’t ask about the rattle in the paint can. I burrowed my dad’s claw hammer and figured it out.I got busted at dinner when I could not for the life of me get the paint off my hands. Dad took me to the garage and dipped my hands in paint thinner. Yeah, in the 70s we did all sorts of ill advised and unsafe stuff-bb gun wars, wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a bike helmet, etc.

I'm convinced the Shin-ei Superfuzz/Boss Hyperfuzz is the best type of fuzz. I also still own an SF300 and owned a FZ2 and thought they were identical, some vids like this make them sound slightly different.
Audhumbla by Monolord is my favorite and the reason I got that Behringer pedal
Now he uses hiero effects copy. Check him pedals, it is very good

great comparison video. I noticed the last section it looked like the Boss was set to Boost? it still had a great fuzz sound to it but when I put mine in that mode it almost "cleans it up a little" and I seem to loose some of the Fuzz sound. any thoughts?

I rock a SF300 on my board and dig it. Blasted it on stage just last night alongside Potion and Witchskull! Wont lie though, been tempted to hoon one of your FU-2's cause, as you say, the classic hyperfuzz can get lost in the mix a wee bit. I also rock a DOD carcosa, which I like a lot but doesnt tear a hole in ya pants like the hyperfuzz

@@FuzzlordEffects carcosa is a solid pedal. Can go from more of a distortion to full splutter fuzz. I have it set up for a pretty open sounding silicon fuzz vibe, which really works for big chords and open string stuff, then switch to either the sf 300 or an hm 2 for big fat low string riffs. Pretty good combo slamming into a crunchy valve head
Will keep an eye out for fu 2 stock though. Can see that slotting into the that second spot
All of these pedals sound great. I have the SF300 and love it. Should check out the JHS Supreme fuzz. It’s based on the old Super Fuzz pedal.
Prefer the scoop in your FU-2 man but I do love just using the boost with other pedals always a great watch! Clipped those shots together perfectly!
Best way to find out what the rattle was is to smash it open with rocks man that’s what we did as kids xD

Amir Derakh used the Boss Hyper-Fuzz on the first Orgy record 'Candyass" that record has great thick guitar tones.
I remember reading it was Ryan.
Amir was the architect of that band. I wouldn't be surprised if it were both. The guitars on that album sound huge. Candyass is a great album. @@christophermcelroy9334

I own the sf300 and it is probably my favourite out of all the fuzz's I own, but then I'm biased cuz that dopethrone/empress rising low end fizz is just the greatest type of tone possible lol.
But that being said I play a very simple pedal board, and the FU-2 is the only pedal on my wish list right now (cuz I'm pretty sure it's the pedal I need to get the tone in my head) but I'm always broke when a batch gets released......but hopefully one day I'll get lucky.
And I'm pretty sure Vincent Houde from Dopethrone uses an FZ-2, and Dopethrone have a sick nasty tone.

I bought a sf 300 yesterday… it’s absolutely amazing… no different in sound to the Boss equivalent.. just cheaper build quality. I’d highly recommend the sf 300 … buy one now before they vanish again … best £25 I’ve ever spent.
Great EQ choices on the FU-2 circuit. The low mids sit right where I'd want them in a mix. But more importantly, where did you get that hat?

I bought the FZ-2 years ago 2nd hand for around 100 Euro to, of course, imitate the Electric Wizard sound. Never knew there were clones of this pedal (let alone one that is sold for just 25 Euro's). Great to know!

I'm not a huge fan of the FZ sound but Jus and Thomas make them sound killer. I really like what the FU2 has going on. Much more meat to the tone but still has that upper octave bite that's so unique to the circuit. Great work, Jason. Behringer SF300 are getting harder to find and way more expensive than they're worth. I'll be ordering an FU2 for sure.

FU-2 is probably one of the most interesting pedals that achieve that hyper fuzz sound. It is waaaaaayy more capable of pushing low end to mids compared to the fz-2. I think it's about as rad as it gets when it comes to fuzz. I also have an sf-300, which is dope too, and due to it's accessibility, extra amazing.
Jason, you should also check out the Ex Oblione by Soundslice Fx in Quebec, Canada. I think it's right up there with your FU-2. It's different in that it's more of a clone of the fz-2 (at least I think it is, I am completely ignorant to electronics lol), with an added boost, high and low tone control, level and gain controls. Kind of like two stackable fz-2's in one enclosure, with massive amounts of low end. It's a deadly pedal and my favourite fz-2 clone.

Back in 97/98 i used to use one , cant believe I sold it for fricken £30 (roughly $45), bought the Behringer version a couple of years back, but still miss the OG FZ2 I had
So how were you running these pedals in this demo? What amp, and into which channel, gain/clean?
I own a 1994 Boss HyperFuzz. It sounds very different than the way you play it. My settings are very different and I play a Gibson LesPaul standard tobacco sunburst made in 1991 with. My Boss FZ2 goes into an old Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Rev D made in july 1992 played in parallel (Lehle P-Split) with a Dual Rectifier Rev F rackmounted (chrome chassis + black diamond plate) made in october 1992. Here I use the clean channel. I push the gain of the heads at 12 o'clock and the master at 11. Treble at 13 o'clock, mids at 11, bass at 13. Then it goes in a 4x12 Bogner Cab 412ST loaded with Celestion V30s for the Rev F + a 4x12 Friedman 212/215 Checkered cab (2x 12" GH12H30 + 2x 15" Fullback) for the Rev D. Amps are loaded with 6L6's power tubes for the biggest low end as possible.
So I guess the Recto make it warmer, fat and creamy as I like. The Boss is not so good with my Matamp GT120 MV. I have tested the Boss FZ2 versus the Frantone Peechfuzz (the best big muff ever to my opinion), the Friedman Fuzz friend witch is a warm fuzz, and the Doctor No Kafuzz (Black Sabbath tone). The Boss wins all the time. This is just huge and juicy. On Reverb, I've found a Jessup clone of the Superfuzz. This pedal sounds very close to the Boss FZ2. And you can switch from the Superfuzz tone to the Hyperfuzz one. But the Boss is better. Definitely the number one fuzz ever for doom, stoner and sludge.
I hope Boss will build it again in the Waza Craft line...

I just got into Behringer pedals after buying and selling high end pedals and I love the Behringer line. I am a huge fan. People complain about the plastic parts but if you treat your gear with love they will be fine. If you break it, it's easily replacable. Damn, you can buy 2 at once for the price they are these days. I think all the pedals in this demo were great but my money still goes to Behringer. Cheers
Very cool video Jason!!! To answer your question about which pedal I liked most? Sorry brother, I can’t really answer that, I liked them all. I have an SF 300 and a DOD Carcosa, they each have a different sound, the FU 2 seems to be a little more throaty if you will than the Hyperfuzz or the SF 300. Basically though if it’s a fuzz pedal, I’m into it!!! As far as lies my parents told me, well I can’t remember any, not because they didn’t do it, just because I can’t remember that far back. That said, when my son was very young, he’s 20 now, my wife told him that if he picked his nose and ate it that it would kill him!!! I’m not sure if that worked, but......!!! Anyway, great video as always!!! Pittsburgh out.

All of these pedals have a lot going for them. The Boss has great reliability, great tone, and a great size. The Behringer has the tone and size, plus it's an amazing price. And the FU-2 has those mids that will cut through a mix and sound MASSIVE. I like smaller pedals, and I need to pay off my mortgage, so would probably choose the Behringer.

Ryan Shuck the old guitar player from Orgy used one for the bands first album "Candyass" thats where I found out about the FZ-2.
So first off they all sound awesome. I'm gonna order the bheringer. To my ears the Boss sounds the closest (obviously) the bheringer sound the nastiest in a good way, and yours sound the most interesting and full, like it sounds like it's coming through it's own stack - and I need one.

My favourite band who uses an FZ-2 is definitely Electric Wizard, but My Bloody Valentine and a few other shoegaze bands use it too.

Would using an old ampeg solid state bass amp for doom be an alright idea? Seems like it'd be headroom for days.
I’ve never tried that but I bet it would be badass!
Heaps of headroom, but unless you're tuning mad low you may find that the EQ isn't very effective
I like the FU-2's slightly more pronounced mids. Gonna have to get my hands on one.

I like the FU-2’s added mids. It sounds much bigger and more open than the SF300 and the FZ-2 because of that.
I have a SF300 and like it but FU-2 is better for my taste. I am also big fun of drone master. You make great pedals 👏👏👏

I have two SF300s I got before Josh Scott did videos, but I used a Dungeon Master to get the Best of a Muff/HM2 Tone Stack/ and an FZ2, Before that is a Comp, Black Rat, then the DM, into a Swollen Pickle, an SD1, a Joyo OCD clone on 18v into a Data Corrupter(still a fuzz) into my Ibanez EQ. sound like explosions!
