  • The best marketing lesson I learned from a Google employee.
The majority of the world doesn’t speak English.
I know that is common sense, and I knew that when she told me.
But what I didn’t realize is, that most of the content on the web is in English.
And back then it was much worse. Today, according to Statista, roughly 59% of the content on the web is in English.
So, if most of the people using Google, use it in other languages, yet the majority of the content is in English...
A big traffic opportunity is to translate and transcribe your content.
Just look at my site's geo-traffic breakdown.
That’s why my ad agency, NP Digital, is in 19 countries.
And those countries make up a lot of our revenue and international by far is making up our growth in this bad economy.

But I think Neil the answer to this problem is personalization. I got marketing email from Neil's team in French because I live in Switzerland, but I do not speak French...personalization is the future. However, personalization based on preferences, purchases made before, not only language ( but also) will bring real results.

What’s your prep for this Neil?
Are you using a translation software?
Are you paying a translator to verify accuracy?
Are you utilising a plug-in that translates the already existing content for you?
I completely agree translation is key for a wider audience and they also are less likely to have the content but we need the hows not the why’s.
