Quit social media in 2017. Never went back....I live a peaceful life! When I hear others complain about fbook this and that [drama] reminds me why I left...no one can find me unless they know me!
Why are so many people giving importance to nothing but a communication tool? Is like an old fashioned phone, you have it with you, but you do not have to call or answer all the time...
Very rarely, almost never, have people who called themselves my friends ever bothered to call me on the phone and make me feel included, so i realized i never had many if any friends to begin with for most of my life. Now, I don’t consider someone a friend if we don’t have each other’s phone numbers and check on each other every now and then.

I appreciate you making this video and letting people see what you can do with your life when there's no more distractions. 🤝
bro don’t even go back to social media ur on the right path. i just quit this week after 8 years of being on social media and i wish i had done this sooner
I quit social media six years ago and I haven't looked back. I used to waste so much time on FB in particular. Now I feel my life is simpler, less cluttered and quieter. It ended up spurring my husband to also quit (he in fact used to work for FB) and change careers to become a teacher. We ended up buying a house together two years ago which required a lot of focus and effort which wouldn't have been possible if had been still addicted to social media.
Social media is quite toxic and triggers a lot of unhappiness and jealousy towards others. I have essentially been using it the same way as you have for several years and I agree, I have also been so much more productive in the last years
Quitting social media was one of the best decisions I ever made for my mental health and overall well-being. At first, I was skeptical, fearing I'd miss out or feel disconnected. But stepping away from the constant noise, comparison, and validation-seeking, I found a profound sense of peace and clarity. These my life is filled with genuine connections, meaningful experiences, and uninterrupted focus on personal growth. If you're contemplating a social media detox, I highly encourage you to give it a try. You might be surprised by the positive impact it can have on your life. Trust me, the freedom is life changing.
I deleted Instagram, tiktok and Facebook the other day because I realised I couldn’t stay off of social media. I kept Snapchat because most of my friends have androids so I can’t talk to them if I deleted that but I feel fresher. I would wake up and scroll for AGESSSSSS and it felt dull and monotonous I strive to read more books, journal, walk, do literally anything else Thank you. This video made me think
Me too! I used to read SO much as a teenager, no I don’t read at all. And I hate it. I don’t think it’s that „books are just not a thing anymore“ like some people say. I think we just killed our attention spans and can’t cope with something that needs us to be focused.
I am 29. Part of the generation that grew up both with and without internet and social media. I was one of those kids who didn’t have internet at home or on my phone and had to use school or library internet. Other kids however did have internet. And I look around at so many of my age are connected to phones and it makes me sad to see nobody living in the moment.
This is so genuine and heartfelt. I am glad us humans are getting back in touch with real connection. Really beautifully put together, thank you for sharing.
My husband is completely addicted to social media. He spends countless hours on SM. It is destroying his family. Yet he doesn’t see he has a problem. I feel completely disconnected to him yet he’s so proud of all his online connections. So please- put your phone away. Connect with your family. Live a full meaning life really enjoying the present moment. Take an honest look at your habits. Don’t let SM control you! It’s a terrible problem.
Thanks this gave me the push I needed. Deleted 3 social media apps off my phone and until I get my laptop repaired im just keeping 2 apps that are my least addictive and that I use to post my art. Social media is utterly depressing.
Not only social media but avoiding any message boards (like reddit) is valuable for me. In real life people are far less cruel compared to the internet since nobody really comes up with snarky replies in realtime during a conversation. It feels like an emotional drain having to deal with what I call internet people. Maybe the next step is to get a dumbphone that can just do text and calls...
I deleted all my social media accounts and I haven’t missed it. I now read more books, have more time for listening and playing music. I feel more connected, less stressed and relaxed. I can actually switch off now and enjoy just being present
GREAT Video. I actually teared up at the end in realizing how true it all is. Your time, family, overall well being improves so much after leaving the cesspool of lies and fake friends. I am living life without it and so far i feel wonderful in doing so. Thanks for this video. -Bob
Thanks for this!! Lately I’ve been constantly deleting and redownloading my social media apps. Deleting because I could literally feel it draining my time and energy and genuinely stealing so much away from my life, then redownload out of FOMO because I’m young. My friends and I are all in our early twenties and I’ve always felt like social media is just such a huge part of everyone’s life, I get scared I won’t be able to relate to everyone as much if I don’t have it. Haven’t really noticed that as being a problem lately though. If anything I’m becoming more able to be outgoing and real. More and more I hate how much it’s taken over the world. I believe so much good would come out of most people quitting or seriously cutting back. It’s a poison.
I quit social media apps same as u about a week and a half ago, can confirm the stress fades away I find myself constantly subconsciously comparing myself to other people’s life highlights really just wanna work on myself this year in the “dark “
I am not on social media but I want to thank you for this. This opened my eyes on how much even I have wasted on youtube. Im gonna try and spend less time on here thanks to you. God bless.

The list is endless. If anyone reading this is still debating deleting social media, try it out for one month and then take things from there. I guarantee you won't be tempted to go back.

Fantastic video and message. Thank you so much. I didn't make a specific promise or effort to quit social media over the last 6 months personally, but the result has been very similar. I just found myself losing interest, and eventually broke the pattern of compulsively checking. I kept my accounts to promote my side business as well and stay available for people that prefer to message on Instagram or Facebook vs text, but I rarely post. I've gotten hours every week back that used to just be spent scrolling, or worse, arguing with folks I didn't know. I don't see myself ever going back - it feels like a fever dream. Anyhow, please keep up the great work and bless you for increasing the connection with your community, friends and family. That is such a gift!
I never liked social media. I was forced to have a Facebook account because I was moving to a different country and my family wanted to keep in touch. There wasn't much of that to be honest. I'm an introvert, socially awkward and have ASD. I like to not have to deal with a lot of people. It makes it even more frustrating and anxiety inducing when they are strangers. When I just started getting negative stuff on Facebook from news or people so vicious, I stopped using Facebook. I had Twitter for 2 days because someone said I should get it and 20 years later I still can't delete or deactivate the account. I just have UA-cam because I like watching things I enjoy or can learn from. But even here, you can't si much as give your own comments without being attacked by some stranger with a different opinion. I got attacked the other day and I got so vicious that I was very ashamed of myself. That is one of the reasons I stay away from social media in general. I enjoyed the video a lot. I was considering doing some courses and improving myself. This video helped me get even more motivated. And it is a nice end to my day, going to sleep on a positive note.
Thank you, this is such an important message. It's very random, but I really love that you don't cut out all the pauses and 'ums' from your speech, it make you sound like a real human being rather than a pre-recorded message.
I could never understand why anyone would ever get involved in social media in the first place. I remember when my AOL then my space was a big deal. The kids I knew that used said it was horrible for bullying and scamming and they kept a tight group and blocked a whole lot of people. Right then it was an instant "I will never bother to do that". And I never did.
@@justme-dm7sb ‘i could never understand why anyone would get involved in social media in the first place’ as if literally every kid/ teenager isn’t getting a phone and finding out their friends are on socials so they download them. you’re so blind to the modern world its crazy. i’m not even advocating for social media but most if not all young people get socials which is just a fact
Thanks Brother for your honest talk I have learnt lot of things from you....Your comfort zone is a place where you keep yourself in a self-illusion and nothing can grow there but your potentiality can grow only when you can think and grow out of that zone..Life is short..Live it.. Fear is natural.. Face it.. Memory is powerful.. Use it..
Well made video! To be honest social medias are toxic. People are self-centered and you often end up comparing yourself to others and it can affect you (even when you think that it doesn’t). Sometimes I feel bad about myself after scrolling through instagram or watching my friends’s stories and I don’t always realize it. Social medias are not real life and always keep in mind that people only share what they want to share. I’v been using Instagram for a long time now and I’v been using it less and less but since I am not really outgoing/introverted it is hard for me to meet people and Instagram really helped me with that so that’s why I am having a hard time fully quitting. But I’m aware that social medias are literally hurting my mental health and my productivity and I want to quit.
I deleted instagram off my main phone, and decided to stop endlessly scrolling youtube, and in that time I have gotten more productive and can plan a lot better for my future, like planning on going back to school and going back to youtube. I think social media is just a dopamine rush that holds you back. Nice video
Is it weird that I’m almost too scared to quit social media? Like I feel like a lot of my conversations with my brother and best friend is through instagram. Sure the conversations might not be filled with much substance and it may just be us sending memes back and fourth but I do like to stay in touch with them frequently throughout the week since they don’t live close by anymore. However, I totally understand that a phone call is much more meaningful than a meme. Time is very important. I need to quit but damn is it hard
Hey, I was worried in the same way. I haven't used social media for about a year. And this is a worry I hear from a lot of people. Personally I felt conversations and relationships got much more genuine. I got a lot better at keeping in touch with people and caring for them from a distance even only thru text. I still don't call people and hate phone calls lol! But now, the new people I meet tend to be people who just call out of no where to check up! Pushes me out of my comfort zone but I think its a good thing! I think it has something to do with changes that have come from quitting overall. Second thing is for me I definetly "lost" some friends, aquatainces, where I was only having convos with no substance. It felt hurtful at the time. But now with a years perspective I understand its very easy to reconnect, and send a genuine "Hey, just thinking of you, how has life been lately?" message to check in
I have the same feeling with my gfs, I switched over to a WhatsApp group chat but it was dead and they never bothered to respond on the WhatsApp group so I decided to let them go
If conversing with your brother and best friend via social media actually helps you and is healthy, then I don't personally see any problem with that :) If you're using social media to actually build connection, then you will be fine. It's a matter of setting your own boundaries, knowing your own limitations, being self aware on what aspects of social media you might want to cut out and those other parts that you can still live with. I also live long distance apart from some family members. We also use messenger to send memes, send random photos of our day or stuff that remind us of one another; then also facebook video call to contact one another since we won't be home together for a while. The challenge for me was (and still is) maintaining a healthy boundary between my social media for business and my social media for family & friends. But anyway, if we foster discipline enough for us not to get addicted to the endless scrolling and building comparison, then maybe we're gonna be fine.

Great video Sam, you got urself a subscriber, I appreciate your honesty, I recently quit Instagram and Facebook and am spending more time on developing my UA-cam channel. As for me it took my focus/concentration away, and now I'm focusing on learning other skills.
Recently my motivation to leave social media was seeing how my loved ones are affected by consuming social media. The way some of my friends now think, the inattentive, chasing something and just being less satisfied with life. I also saw these traits in me but observing them in the people I care about confirmed for me that this can’t be a way of life. I hope I one day I’ll inspire them.
Hi, man! UA-cam brings me your video in the suggestions list. I watched it and I was surprised. I want to quit social media too. These days are the lasts using social media. I want to start from first day of 2023. These days I am trying to prepare for that day. I want to start a business too. It will be about video production. This idea was for a long time ago in my mind, but the social media it was one of the big reason of my distraction. I was amazed when I hear your experience. I am a christian too. Social media is a very big time thief for me. Especially the time with God. A quality time and close relationship with Him. I mean this is a bigger reason why I want to quit S.M. So thanks for your video. It was encouraging for me! God bless you!😇
I think really anyone can relate to this. You explained it so well. Social media has been like a curse for me and I quit a lot of social media apps over the past year. Still kinda stuck on UA-cam but here it's kinda difficult as I like UA-cam for a lot of things, for videos like this that teach or as a source of entertainment however I often fall into a watching loop which can get pretty unhealthy. Definitely gotta figure out how to balance that. Getting rid of Twitter and Instagram was the best decision I made in the recent year. Made me feel so much more connected to reality and my surrounding.
Great video and resonates with me well. Thank you. I have a small business, so see where you are coming from with having to use it for digital marketing purposes. I quit this year, and already start to feel the benefits with my mental health, stress levels and relationships. Deleted all apps from my phone and just use now for business on my laptop!
I put them on hold. I don't have Facebook on phone, only on my laptop so I check it out in the evening only. When it comes to Instagram i download it every two days in the evening, check the messages, reply and delete. And it's been working well for me. I can focus on my work like never before, 😃
Bruh!! It's incredible how good a quality video this is considering it's less than 500 subs... I just deleted FB, Instagram, twitter, reddit, snapshot and many more accounts permanently. UA-cam i cannot delete account cuz it's tie to Google account. Ur underrated sir
6:45 I feel that. in an early drive to make “more” connections social media, the quality is less than one-on-one connections with a few people who actually want to genuinely listen and participate in my life.
Thank you for sharing and inspiring us with the good you have made with time spent away from social media. Yes, I too found myself spending too much time on fb, wasting my time and energy away. Also, I was in some fb support groups where I would share experiences sincerely only to have some ppl hiding behind annoymity saying unpleasant things. One day, I just decided enough is enough. I just stopped going into the groups. I still kept the app but hardly opened it. Started doing my own content, in the way I wish and in my own terms. Feels way fulfilling use of the little free time I have available. I guess once we can find a better sense of purpose of working towards something, mindless scrolling on social media would lose their appeal.
wow man this is something insane! good work mate was shocked to see your sub count for a second, i assumed i was watching some popular youtuber initially. damn.
I just found this video! I took the same step a few months ago and it’s really changed my life. You nailed everything here. It truly has made me more connected with my friends and family. Thanks for sharing!
When I get older if I make it to my 90s I don't want to imagine the pain of not being able to move or do much of anything other than reflecting on the beautiful world and thinking I spent my time on SM. How awful would that be...

bro don’t even go back to social media ur on the right path. i just quit this week after 8 years of being on social media and i wish i had done this sooner
You're very wise! Being off it gets you into being more productive and in the moment with real friends and family.
I would wake up and scroll for AGESSSSSS and it felt dull and monotonous
I strive to read more books, journal, walk, do literally anything else
Thank you. This video made me think
Inspiring comment
Me too! I used to read SO much as a teenager, no I don’t read at all. And I hate it. I don’t think it’s that „books are just not a thing anymore“ like some people say. I think we just killed our attention spans and can’t cope with something that needs us to be focused.
Thats great
You can delete snapchat and communicate via whatssapp or viber.

Hey brother just listened to this in the car (didn’t see any of the actual video) but appreciate your vibe & presence :) hug from Ireland
I’m on day 16 of no social media, feels good 🙌🏽
Thanks this gave me the push I needed. Deleted 3 social media apps off my phone and until I get my laptop repaired im just keeping 2 apps that are my least addictive and that I use to post my art. Social media is utterly depressing.
This was really convicting! Now I want to quit social media and start a business!

Awesome
"How many times I have missed something because I was on my phone?" Damn.
the production !!! The effort you put to make this video is amazing !!!
It’s a poison.
how much time passed from redownloading to redownloading ? maybe you´re not giving yourselt the time to really detox.
I quit social media apps same as u about a week and a half ago, can confirm the stress fades away
I find myself constantly subconsciously comparing myself to other people’s life highlights really just wanna work on myself this year in the “dark “
And yet everyone subconsciously plays the game
@StopDrunkDriving We're in a mess right now
I am not on social media but I want to thank you for this. This opened my eyes on how much even I have wasted on youtube. Im gonna try and spend less time on here thanks to you. God bless.
Beautifully done video! I realized I am addicted to Twitter… it causes negativity, cynicism, losing hope on the world… I follow lots of politics, covid, war… I have kind of lost myself. My soul, my peace, my joy, my hope, my creativity… There must come a change. Thanks for encouraging it.
this is so beautiful and so important. Thank you for your generocity
couldn’t agree more on the communication point!
Wow! This video is so well made, I glanced over expecting to see 1 million subs at least! Keep it going, I'm sure you're going to be huge on youtube!!
I deleted social media a few months ago and it has been the BEST decision of my entire life. I feel like I have more time in the day, I work on my hobbies and skills, I read more, I write more. The list is endless. If anyone reading this is still debating deleting social media, try it out for one month and then take things from there. I guarantee you won't be tempted to go back.
This video nearly made me cry. I can't believe how much time I've wasted on social media. Today's the day, I'm quitting for good, no more half assed attempts. Thank you.
how are you holding up?
@@Gainmackain1 I gave up immediately, actually I don't think I even quit it that day. Overall I've quit for a few weeks since then, and I just get lonely without the extra people in my life, even if they're casual friendships. I do love how peaceful it feels, and I'm currently without social media.
@@Gainmackain1I just watched it again and I'm holding back tears 🥲 this is so true...I really appreciate you replying to my comment, now this is at the forefront of my mind and I'll continue to abstain from social media, as well as fill in the gaps to fill the void..
@@somedudeinatunnel3102 I totally feel you. I’m struggling myself. Quit 30 days recently and got right back into it, ugh. Well, I salute you for trying and keep it up :)
This video has been showing up in my feed for a while. I finally took time to watch. I’m so glad I did. New subscriber, Randy
Thank you, this is such an important message. It's very random, but I really love that you don't cut out all the pauses and 'ums' from your speech, it make you sound like a real human being rather than a pre-recorded message.
You’re amazing brother ,
I really feel connected to lol the things you’ve said .
This is a strong message and thank you for that .
How can anyone refuse to follow this guy? Excellent video with great production quality and refreshing commentary. Thank you.
Only a person living in a cave would ask such a question in 2023

Use it..
I absolutely loved that transition in the beginning, really creative! Honestly really hooked me into the video
Nice video
This video is actually the first video I’ve seen in a long time that’s felt genuine and holds immense value
Thank you Zac! 😭😭😭
But now with a years perspective I understand its very easy to reconnect, and send a genuine "Hey, just thinking of you, how has life been lately?" message to check in
Why dont just message them on whatsapp or some other messaging app? You feel scared because its an addiction. Mine is UA-cam.
@@outlander234Same with me regarding a UA-cam 😢, I feel like I am gonna have some weird withdrawal syndrome once I decide to quit/delete UA-cam.
This video is so well done: the shots between paragraphs and kids playing videos are great, and of course the meaning. Beautiful!
Wow man, very powerful video. It brought me to tears because I know I’ve wasted so much of my life scrolling on social media, and thinking of the time lost I could have spent on more enriching activities. I’m definitely going to be making some changes. Thank you for sharing this message in such a thought provoking way! 🙌🏼
super well done video :) i appreciate that you were pretty specific with the benefits, I found it very inspiring
“I just don’t think that anybody when they get to the end of there lifes is gonna say to themselfs ‘wow I wish I would have spent more time on social media’” .

Incredible video. I actually cried when you talked about finger plucking out the treasure of time
Thank you for sharing your experiences in quitting social media. It helps me to understand or even realize my position and problems I have especially on Social Media. This Video is very informative and well done produced keep it up!
I REALLLY ENJOYED THIS ONE, feels like a documentary than a youtube video, it been a long time i didn't watch a documentary video
I’m so happy this video popped up on my recommended page. Great video!!! Thank you!!
Such an underrated channel. I quit social media in 2021 and this video miraculously reached me. Perhaps it's a sign from the universe that I'm on the right path 😅
I think I was 3 mins in when I was already suscribing. It felt like an honest video and not a young millionaire telling me I'm wasting my time with social media and I'll become rich if I quit. Very good work.
bro your videos are insane keep on working i'll be your biggest supporter
Incredibly insightful. I also love that you bring your personal experience and make a case for doing right by your time too. Subscribed.
Incredible video. You’ve pushed me even closer to taking the leap and deleting all my accounts. If I didn’t come to the comments, I wouldn’t have known you have less than 1K subscribers and that just blows me away. Absolutely phenomenal video quality.
Great video Sam, you got urself a subscriber, I appreciate your honesty, I recently quit Instagram and Facebook and am spending more time on developing my UA-cam channel. As for me it took my focus/concentration away, and now I'm focusing on learning other skills.
Wonderful video, Sam. Thank you.
Man the kids part hit me deep. Appreciate it. I need to sort out my priorities.
God bless you!😇
This is content. Genuinely loved it. It was such a normal real video, to the point and informative. Thank you!
Same if you use a computer there's a plugin called distraction free UA-cam it's rlly good nothing for phones though
Beautiful work! Slowly we can overcome this horrible, pointless, poisonous addiction as a whole and we can become human again. One person at a time. 💖
Bro I got goose bumps at the end with the piano and your little monologue with the shots of your kids.....awesome.
I can focus on my work like never before, 😃
Wow such a beautiful video… bravo.. keep up 😊
very eye opening, thank you for this.
Well done Sam. I loved this!
Thnks bro... your video its self inspires me a lot... this vidoe deserve more audience...
This video is that of a 120K to maybe even 1 million+ subscribers keep going my man. Respect.
You lighting game is immaculate
wow man this is something insane! good work mate
was shocked to see your sub count for a second, i assumed i was watching some popular youtuber initially. damn.
Dude, trust me. I’m just as shocked as everyone else. I cannot believe the amount of views and new subscribers I’ve received. Still in shock.

I just found this video! I took the same step a few months ago and it’s really changed my life. You nailed everything here. It truly has made me more connected with my friends and family. Thanks for sharing!

I appreciate this video man, this video was awesome!
Recently my facebook account was hacked and disabled for 34 days. It was slightly detremental to me because I work for myself and manage differnt companies social media. I was freaking out for the first week and slowly realized how great it was not staring at my phone or mindlessly scrolling. Since then ive gotten my account my and I now use it stictly for work. Im so much happier now and I don't really know how to describe it. I feel like my account getting hacked and disabled was honestly a blessing.
