This game is so powerful and it has become very special to me on a personal basis. While playing it for the second time, as I was walking towards the light I suddenly found myself thinking "this will be where my loved ones will be waiting for me" and I could picture them including my two dogs that had both passed away. Needless to say I wept alot and have done every time I have played it.
I believe that will be true when we step through the veil of death. This game is beautiful to me because I believe that it reflects, at a fundamental level, truths that resonate through the myths of so many cultures.
I can’t describe the feeling of my first play through. I think why it is so beautiful is we face the loss, we close a beautiful story like we one day must leave this life. But even when we fade and feel that little death and feel the pain and loss it gives us hope of another chance. Another life that will be different but it won’t end. It’s sad because we want this to happen but deep inside we fear we will just fade away forever… Treat everyone in life like you do your companions in this game. For they are on the same journey you are and must face the loss of everything one day as well. Journey is the perfect game.
It’s basically a game that symbolizes the journey of life. The circle of life. That’s the vibe I got from playing it. It’s simple yet impactful. An emotional journey of life.
It's one of the easier games to streamsnipe, and one where you actively streamsnipe to give the streamer a better experience. Once you finish your first playthrough you kind of get a longing to feel what you felt the first time again, but you can't ever have that experience again, so in stead you replay the game to hopefully help new players, to share in their experience. I must have played through the game at least 15 times, chasing that emotional high.
@@CordovanSplotchVT I never stopped trying to get that magic back, replaying hundreds of times guiding new players, exploring glitches, learning advanced tricks and flying techniques. Now I'm stuck on chasing down that feeling through watching others reactions and boy, this one was a doozy!
2012 was the peak of game evolution: Journey, Mass Effect 3, Walking Dead, Dishonoured, XCOM, Dear Esther, the list goes on and on. Then Gamergate happened and everything flushed down the toilet.
I had the same reaction at the end🥺 You are so lucky to know the person you have played with.. I comfort myself knowing I went on a journey with a person I’ll never meet again en so did they😩
What a beautiful experience on a such a gorgeously crafted game. Once again, I love your playthrough. And once again, I'm surprised to find another gamer that feels so emotional about little moments in videogames.
Thank-you for sharing your first journey. You were truly fortunate to finish with your companion of so long. On my first play through I got lost and ended up walking alone. Over the years I keep coming back and have guided many people through from start to finish. If only one of them had half the reaction you had then I'd be very happy. Thank-you for sharing.
Journey is one of the most beautiful pieces of media i have ever experienced. Loved seeing someone else go through it for the first time. Abzú, not the same developer but some of the same people and same composer Austin Wintory. Doesn’t quite hit that emotional high but I love it none the less.
Truly such a beautiful game, never would have thought an indie game under 2 hours would have such a deep profound effect on me. It's awesome seeing others experience it for the first time.
The 4th and 5rh checkpoint are so powerful. You can see that the 'energy' or 'resources' symbolized by the scarves are fading, causing the white robes to turn on each other and fight for resources. They begin building war machines and going to war, causing the death of thousands and collapsing their civilization. The stone dragons that chase you in the game are actualy their war machines gone rogue, that's why they sound and look so robotic. Thus their civilization falls and is consumed by the sands of time. Until the traveller arrives that is, maybe from another land, maybe a descendant of the white robes, but evolved tova different form. The red robes explore the ruins of this civilization and face the full weight of their ancestors sins, climbing the mountain and thus achieving redemption for this civilization, through the lessons of the ancestors.
i remember playing this some years back. traveled with a person from russia. at least i think so cause their name was in russian. taught me how fly by leaping off the bridges and using camera angel to glitch the game. the result is flying really high up. did the same with heart gesture when we finished the game. this game still lives in my memory cause of that journey. it may be my imagination but cknoir sounds familiar as well.
Sounds like you might have been playing with the most amazing Ava (Ara)! She is one of the most patient teachers and is back streaming Journey on Twitch these days. I remember watching her when she first started playing, noob as the rest of us. Her tenacity though...hours and hours and HOURS of repeating until she reached perfection in whatever she was trying to do. She did have some amazing teaches who played at the time too.
with every full round your cloak gets more gold. You teammate has played minmum 3 rounds. :) Get all glowing glyphs and then you get the white robe. This robe has reloading powers. :)
Hi Ray. I had to come back to re-watch this after playing Journey again for the first time on PC... So beautiful to see your journey there, thank you for sharing! Love seeing people get emotional. In the end it's just a short, fleeting moment with a stranger (mostly) that we will never see again, which makes it more beautiful to me.
yeah, some say that it's a game about how fancy your cloak is and how long your scarf is... =P The useful part of that is that you can gauge how experienced your companion is by how "well" they're dressed and maybe a little about their playstyle.
Thanks for that info, I just finished playing for the first time and I think I was with someone who was inexperienced too, sometimes we struggled but at least we did it together 😂 it’s nice to know there’s some incentive like the white robe to go again and again !
@@agathacccc2710 There are different combinations of players resulting in different emotional stories/connections. Two inexperienced players struggling and playfully exploring together, two experienced players both understanding and chasing the same emotional high from that first playthrough they can never re-experience, an experienced player getting to share in a little bit of that first emotional rollercoaster of a new player they joined to guide them, the new player cautiously following along the old gold-cloak hoping they're not being a nuisance when in reality, them requiring patience from the old-timer is what makes the experience so much better for them. I've played this game at least 15 times since the first time on the PS3 when it originally released, wishing I could erase it from my memory and play it for the first time again.
