I’m doing an old tank right now. Took 2 cans of that aircraft stripped to get it back to metal. Did you leave some of the old Bondo on the tank? I have one good sized spot that’s got some bondo…I’m worried the paint stripper I used could have compromised the bondo, therefor I should remove it and replace with new filler. This is my first tank painting attempt.
Hi BD! awesome work man! Inspired to work on my KZ1000 Police, have you done any 4 cylinder projects? I am thinking of doing the engine cleaning and re-ringing the 1000 bike...Love all the tips, ideas, nicely done all the way around!
Waste paint goes in a bag and the trash. Not sure about a pressure washer. It’s pretty stubborn stuff. A softer media in a sand blaster might be cool too. But anyone can do this. No special tools required.
Might take far less effort than scraping it try pressure washer if you do it. Think about where all the chemical stripper ends up draining off too though. Not in your bathtub please for the love of god. Not in your bathtub.
If you’re going to say he’s doing it wrong at least point out what you think was done incorrectly so we can learn, or debate. I think most of use are new/newish and trying to learn. How do you strip and prep a tank?
Good Lord! That paint remover spray does the job. Can't wait to see how the tank turns out.
I think it burned a few brain cells too!
HOLY SHIT...YOU SOUND JUST LIKE BLACK JACK
People keep saying that!
Hi BD loving the longer videos, it's a cool project I am enjoying watching. Your down to earth advice is refreshing. Cheers from Austraila.

Haven’t done 4, but just follow the manual. Spend time making sure your carbs are right.
@@KeepOnWrenching it's turning out great, using a lot of your tips, appreciate your down to earth take and the fun had in the process.
Yep,no leaks, that is lucky, cleaned my tank now its a pasta strainer got my work cut out for me now !!!!
I’ve had a few of those too. Got luck on this one.
@@KeepOnWrenching ya did a really nice job on it the clear coat brought out the color nice
What if you pressure washed it instead of scraping it. Would that be ok to do? where does all the waste paint go?

how well did the evapo rust work? we never got to see back in the tank
The stuff is amazing. Reusable too. Works like a charm for tanks.
What did you use to clean out the rust on the inside of the tank? Thanks!
I used EvapoRust. I actually go through that process in Part 3 of the series.
Distilled white vinegar
What aircraft cleaner did you use
The gel does good. Lots of work.
Could you just pressure wash the paint off?
I dunno. It’s takes some effort!

Honda never made that pattern.
Yup. That was a “custom” job for sure.
Perfect video of how an idiot disassembles a tank.
Thanks! I hope you have a lovely day too.
