    I just sandblasted and primered my 1979 cm400t frame. Worked out great. Thanks for the help.

      @@KeepOnWrenching . Yeah; then you've got it on and i'd already commented. So it let it go. BTW what about aluminium foil, also white vinegar ? for the rust ??? :)

      I just can’t stand that aluminum foil. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. I know it works but man it’s painful.

    Glad to have found this series. I'm doing the same thing with a 1970 CL350 but was planning on getting the frame powder coated. Care to comment on the trade-offs of going that direction?

      They didn’t come powder coated. But if you can afford it I do g hate the idea.

    What media was used to sandblast the frame?

  • @sxurry
    @sxurry 4 роки тому +2

    Did you wipe the frame down between sandblasting and priming? I've heard small medium particles can stay on the frame and end up under the paint

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  4 роки тому +1

      For sure. I hosed it down good. It totally leaves residue.

    • @elobiretv
      @elobiretv 2 роки тому

      Surely you would wipe it down anyway with a panel wipe before priming?

    do those sand blast tanks increase pressure ( as apose to going direct from compressor?)

    • @KeepOnWrenching

      I’ve had the best result with fine blasting material. It’s a coal slag I believe.

    what primer did you use

  • @dumpjeep
    @dumpjeep 3 роки тому +1

    Using lacquer primer is totally the wrong thing to do. You have to use 2k urethane primer. You should go use the blaster and strip it again. That stuff you put all over the bike is soft and won't hold up at all. Especially to petroleum based stuff like gas and oil. A company called Spray Maxx makes 2k in a can if you dont have proper equipment.

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  3 роки тому

      2K for sure. I’m using it pretty much exclusively now.
