    Hi Colin, I got mine in 2019, I’m at 4600 miles and hoping to hit 5000 by fall, I love it, I just did a 2 day 240 mile camping trip, you can load the bike up like a burrow, it’s great.

    I got a new 2022 ruckus. I'm 63 years old and I absolutely love it. I put 1800 miles on it in my first year of ownership. Starting to cool off here in Indiana but I still get a few winter rides in. I changed oil at the first 300 miles and switched to Mobil one synthetic. And once a month I use a little complete fuel system cleaner. And I keep a close eye on tire pressure. Absolutely love it.

      Buy motorcycle oil it is designed for air cooled engines. Car oil is not. You are doing it no favors.

    Fairfield County checking in here! I we had moped and Honda Spree gangs in Michigan when I was 14/15.... always wanted a Honda. Fast forward 30 years and bought a GY6 Chinese Beyond 50 for $650 with 600 miles. Sold it last fall for $600 after putting on 2000 miles. Fun but something always going wrong...would never buy one again but I did all my own work even valves at 700 miles. Watch Living With a Tao Tao on youtube and you will NEVER buy a chinese scooter - great videos and how-to though. I've been following Ruckus for 10+ years....just got a 2022 last month, ordered in November 2021, paid Retail, no gouging even though Stamford Motorsports was only getting 2 this year. Thennnnn....2 weeks later came across a 2017 with only 450 miles....mint condition, turns out I know the sellers mother in law so I bought that for $2700 so now we have 2. SOOOO happy. What great things to ride. Plan to have it forever. NO mods - will keep it full stock. I like your idea for a non-Mod / non-tuner Ruckus Forum/blog etc. Thanks!

    Up until last year I'd have my 10 year old granddaughter in front of me to cruise around our neighborhood or the campground. This year she's almost 100lbs and I'll have her on the back of the Z125. If she keeps living the riding I'll have to get av real motorcycle!
    Thanks for the excellent video.

      Turns out that the problem with the low idle on my Ruckus was the Air Filter Housing. Too much air getting to the motor. Air Filter Housing wasn't sealing air tight. All fixed now.

    I will turn 70 in a couple of months & have a 2022 Ruckus. It is the only vehicle I use for all around town errands & puttering keeping the Tundra 4x4 sitting in the driveway & Harley is now Hwy riding only. I have owned a Harley for 52 years.
    Dispute your take on mods, yes many guys without knowledge or a plan just buy something "pretty" or listened to someone non mechanically inclined. I'm 210lbs & my Ruckus cruises at 45mph top speed level ground no wind will reach 50.
    As a hobby, my son & I restore American muscle cars to Show quality & eventually sell, acquire another project & start again.
    My Ruckus is a full performance stage 2 plus a performance carb & the required carrier since I will strap on it regular a box, bag & carry a case of beer on the floorboards. I'm just Not going to stretch the frame & add a wide rear tire. Where I live being able to cruise at or around 45 is a necessity. Prior to mods, the Ruckus would cruise at 35/36mph with my weight.
    A couple of performance tips: increase rear tire pressure to 34/36psi & front to 28psi. Add the NKG performance IR spark plug, only use regular non-ethanol gas & add 1 tablespoon of Octane Booster at every tank fill. Keep your oil level in the middle between the high & low marks.
    I also changed the headlight bulbs since I like more light for night riding. From all that I did reduce my mileage from 106mpg to 98.

    Collins I also meant to tell you how that the previous owner of your ruckus that did the intake most likely changed the jets in the carb to run it that way , if you were to change back to the normal stock box -say you got one off eBay and put all on , it may not run right due to the fact someone’s changed the jets in the carbs to do that performance cone intake. You would want to go back to stock ruckus jets with the stock air box. Not hard at all but was just giving you a heads up, ruckus intake modification cannot be done without rejetting so when I saw your intake I was like I wonder if he knows someone’s most likely rejeted it .

    Can’t find a low cost used in my area, used runs only $400 so less than new. Ruckus upgrade kit for $200 or so from here in Zepherhills, FL seemed to help the stock motor pull stronger and hit 45mph. 150cc motor upgrades are ok but I like the stock geometry and look, vs. stretched . To me it is so worth just getting a motorcycle license. It is not that damn hard. Everyone talks about a BBK. but if the right cop sees you going over 30 the fine can be pretty expensive. 150's are so much more fun. And unless you live right in town, the ride trying to get to streets that have a slow enough speed limits that you are not holding people up can be a bitch. People want to run over you they have little patience.

      Sadly I am not totally sure, I’m very jealous of your new ruckus, I’m thinking about a new one someday just because it would be very special knowing im the only person to ever ride it. I do assume there is a section in the service manual for break in time, make sure to do an oil change after break in and follow the schedule in the manual, good luck and have fun!

    • @anthonyboberg4736
      @anthonyboberg4736 3 роки тому +2

      Letting it properly warm up before driving it. Maybe like a 10 min warm up before departing also not cranking back on the acceleration as if it were a dirt bike. Check your tires pressure I run 31 psi in mine also do your first oil change at 600-800 miles - this is your break in oil that it comes from the dealer, if used passed a certain mileage it could burn up or lose all its protective properties , also untill your at least 400 miles or more try not to top the bike out on max speed , take it easy on it in the beginning hints the name breaking it in.

    • @anthonyboberg4736
      @anthonyboberg4736 3 роки тому +3

      Also your bike may not be able to hit its top speed (new straight from dealer) for a few hundred miles because the drive belt has to get broken in and that takes 200 miles .

    Fellow Connecticut resident here! I am interested in getting a two wheeled vehicle for light transportation around town and a 50cc scooter is much easier to obtain than a motorcycle (as you need a motorcycle endorsement) but I am just worried that a 50cc would struggle on hills and on roads with 45MPH speed limits. I would love to get myself a ruckus as it looks so cool to me and so much fun but does it have enough power to get around at a pace where other drivers won't wanna run through you?

    • @colinsview
      @colinsview  3 роки тому +3

      Great question! I feel pretty safe most places but i ride way on the side of caution, if you’re going 40 and a car is going 42 it is an extremely slow pass and they hang on your side for a while because the speed difference is so slow, so I’ll usually even pull over if I see a line of cars in my rear view. The GREAT thing about the Honda ruckus is that you can probably try it and sell it for the same price if you don’t like it too because there won’t be any loss in registration and stuff, good luck!

      Ive heard that over 220 pounds will reduce the specifications that the factory advertises but I think it would still work well, many other 49cc scooters handle that weight when they have two riders. The best thing you could do is get on one and test drive it. I am not sure where you live in long island but I would stay away from driving in any type of city. You would need to change your variator weights to a lighter weight size, for example I’m 240lbs and the stock variator weights are 7grm I switched to 4.5 roller weights and that made the scooter accelerate way faster off the line, I also did a ncy cdi box and a uni drop in filter with a Kevlar drive belt and my scooter does 45mph on a non windy day. That’s with me on it and sometimes gear.

    I've had a 49cc ruckus,and I found it to be a great put wound the neighborhood scooter.people will comment that it is... Ugly ,cute ,what is it, etc. It's good if you live in the Villages Fl. But any where else, not so much. #1 underpowered #2 drum brakes
    #3 can't climb a long grade hill .I could go on. The fact is it's not a reasonable form of transportation above 35mph.
    That being said, Honda had produced a 250cc scooter called the Big Ruckus back 2004-2006.
    It was a great scooter. Liquid cooled , 4 stroke,good suspension easily carrying an adult pass.55mph.
    However Honda sales were slow because they're also were already the 250 rebel . so why have two 250 machines. SaleS were already strong for the rebel. So Honda dropped the big Ruckus. Mistake.. Since Honda has come up wth several lager and road worthy scooters. In closing, the 49cc Ruckus is good for what it is. What ever that's worth....

    I have Zuma 125cc. I ride it every day and love it.
    I would love to ride this Honda some day but sadly it’s not popular around where I live. Here most scooters are 125+ and two strokes are banned. So many 50 became unusable thanks to the lawmakers.

    I would buy a Yamaha Zuma before I bought this. Storage or lack of is a big issue for me.

      I really appreciate the seat and footing for a passenger on a zuma, on my channel I have recently sold the ruckus for a zuma so I fully agree with you!

    Funny how you compare it to the “foreign” scooters. I know what you’re talking about. I have owned multiple Hondas and that’s about all I’ll buy. I’d rather have one Ruckus than have two China junkers.

    Its hard to justify the cost for a ruckus when you could play a little more for a grom and get so much more power.

    Isn't it kind of obvious they copied the Yamaha Zuma. Except with no storage. Plus my Zoomer it's faster and requires less maintenance.

      I looked at the Zuma...Freaking HEAVY for a scooter almost 300 lbs and almost twice the price. No thanks the weigh alone was a huge turn off and helped to make an easy decision on what to buy....

      @@bultacowally You’re right the 125zumas are heavy mines a 50 and only weighs about 200. You’ll be better off with the 125 even though it’s heavy it’s a lot faster

    Styling is Early American Industrial. Looks like a stripped down Coleman That said, I like the lack of style. Style costs money, adds weight, and adds zero functionality.

    Jealous of you being in CT. I have one sitting at a dealership waiting. Massachusetts seriously sucks they want it registered as a motorcycle. And then they say limited use as well. Some people get away with registering it as a scooter. It's insane. Guy wrote on Reddit about getting pulled over by a cop and they were asking why it had a motorcycle plate.

    Search youtube to see what a Ruc Rac looks like.
