    That's incorrect it doesn't need a battery at all. The purpose of the kick start is to start it when your battery is dead you may have had the key off or the kill switch on but I can attest just today I start mine via kick start with NO BATTERY and I rode it around the block no issues

    2016 - paid $3000 private sale. New fuel pump, air and gas filters, new battery this past summer. 5000 kms now. In BC registration, insurance and class 5 driver license needed. $5 gas fill up, cheap on insurance. I'm 72 yrs old now and when I give up driving vehicles I hope to still ride my Ruckus scooter.

    I bought a new Ruckus in 2017 new. Very low maintenance. 6600 miles on it now, same tires, same drum brakes. Couple of oil changes. I did some minor enhancements. Bought the extended rack for the rear and have a fold up crate zip tied to it for carrying groceries. Put gravel guards on the headlights. Have installed a water bottle holder on left side of handle bars and have a glove pouch on the right side. Under the seat I custom fit a stainless steel fryer basket (custom fit), so I can carry a lock and chain cable and a first aid kit. Purchased a pair of plastic saddle bags and had a friend install them for me, with lights wired so that the light on the back of each bags work with my turn signals. Went to a couple of motorcycle rallies and one friend gave me a truck bull balls set that now hangs down from the license holder! Ha ha. Big set of cahoonas! I installed a Battery Tender and keep it plugged in during the winter, store it on my sheltered back porch. It looks like a white bumble bee! It is red and white, and I installed a pair of red foam throttle grips, and ran red reflective tape around the speedo. I get around 90 mpg and I weigh about 205 pounds. I have no doubt if I weighed 150 like an Asian guy I would get 125 mpg! In the saddle bags, on one side I carry a rainproof poncho, and I tire plug repair kit and in the other bag, I carry a 1 liter fuel bottle with gas, to get an extra 25 miles down the road! Room in that bag also for a lunch box with drink, snacks and sandwich when out running errands! I have few opportunities to ride it on dirt, but do most of my riding within a 30 mile radius of my home. BTW, I am now 74 years old. Rode motorcycle all my life, last one was an 1800 GoldWing, but my knees started going bad and sold it and bought the Ruck. More fun than a barrel of monkeys! Love it!🤪

    • @mikehoward8201
      @mikehoward8201 Рік тому

      Forgot to mention, I mounted a red barrel carrier on the front rack and in it are my sunglasses, night glare yellow lens wraparounds, and a couple of microfiber towels. I always wear a helmet, sometimes with a face shield and sometimes with…then I wear my glasses! No fun getting a beetle in the eye at 37 mph!

    I have a 17 ... I’ve added the Chase-Harper underseat bag.
    I had to giggle a bit
    When you said that people need to be comfortable with it and I totally agree.
    If you push right or left to swerve this bike moves really fast in either direction and could easily spill someone if they’re not familiar with the Ruckus’ handling.
    I took a MSF course myself and I also have a Rebel 500 which has a different handing profile.
    All in all the Ruckus is a pretty neat little rude. It’s not fast but if you’re making a quick grocery run and don’t want to wrangle a car through traffic this is a great choice.

      One of the things that got me interested in a Ruckus is that a lot of guys like you have a real motorcycle and still cruise around on a Ruckus. So I thought it can't be that bad. And it's not it's a blast!

    Either brake to electric start it, don't need to use just the rear brake. The offbrand chinese ones are slower. $100 tops worth of mods with a ruckus and you can comfortably do 45mph. $500 to do 50-55mph on a flat. $1000+ if you want to do 60+ but that forgoes the previous mods because you're buying a plug and play 150cc+ kit

    Just to clear things up, it's not a moped. Lots of people are calling small scooters and bikes mopeds. A moped is exactly that, a contraction between two words motor and pedal. So a moped is a motor driven cycle that also has pedals so that you can ride it like a bicycle also.

      @Ethan.s.. 4 роки тому +1

      Tate Enstrom well if the previous owner rejeted it properly like one should with intake and exhaust, it would probably be running to rich right now. So adding the exhaust back would be very beneficial. If the previous owner didn’t reject it, it is surely running better now with the sock exhaust. He should check and see what exactly is in his carburetor.

I started it a few times, and then when the weather changed to spring, the scooter wouldn't start. At first I thought it was bad gas. Now I think the battery needs to be replaced. But, I added a Spitfire windshield, a Givi Top Case, foot pegs. and a pair of soft side saddlebags. It does about 30 mph in my neighborhood. My biggest bike was a Honda Valkyrie. So far. This is not a moped
    A moped (/ˈmoʊpɛd/ MOH-ped) is a type of small motorcycle with bicycle pedals, generally having a less stringent licensing requirement than full motorcycles or automobiles. Mopeds typically travel only a bit faster than bicycles on public roads, and possess both a motorcycle engine and pedals for propulsion. Mopeds are distinguished from scooters in that the latter tend to be more powerful and subject to more regulation.[1]

    I bought one new few years ago they’re nice but they’re too small and I can’t keep a battery in mine and if you’re lucky you’ll get a season out of one battery and then when you go back in the spring and get ready and ride it the battery will need replaced again that’s what I am experiencing I’m getting ready to take one back to Walmart I spent somewhere between $80 and $90 on and it it’s no good. I’m not sure if it has an electric fuel pump or not??? it may,,, however I understand it has an electric choke mine also will not start without a little power going to it if nothing else you could hook up one of them little battery chargers long enough to send some power to it to kick start it you’d want to leave the dead battery in there while you’re doing that though,,, The suspension is far too soft,,,, I was able to find a used shock absorber for an older model Honda bike cheap(it might have been for an older Honda elite model) $15 that just barely fits and I put that on the back and that took care of the back suspension really good however now I’ve got to do something for the front forks,,, when I replaced the rear shock I had to weld some pieces of steel to the kickstand that changed the height,,, the front forks will bottom out easy though I’m actually thinking about getting rid of mine I bought it because I was afraid that gas was going to go so high you couldn’t afford to buy it gas could go to five or six dollars a gallon and I could still get around in the warm months on the ruckus however there are other models available that are slightly larger and still get extremely good mileage. I would like to get maybe a Honda helix completely reconditioned the bigger model I forget what year it was I think for me personally that would be ideal or one of the new 150 models Honda is now offering that could work also,,, if your small enough the Honda ruckus is ideal however the seat is not comfortable at all it’s not soft enough and it’s not long enough for bigger riders I wonder if some foot pegs that flip up and down could help with long rides you get rider fatigue if you go very far on a Honda ruckus unless you’re a smaller person mabe???idk,,, look at Mitch‘s scooter stuff on UA-cam to learn how to do basic maintenance on your Honda ruckus,,,oil changes are pretty easy if you’ve got 1200 miles on your bike I would say do an oil change and wait till you get another hundred or so miles on it and do another oil change and clean the screen a brand new bike will have metal shavings in the oil

    Scooters =\= mopeds. No pedals, not a ped.
    The "no license" thing sketches me out as well. Here, like most states you're required to have a driver's license but no endorsement. This leads people to believe that scooters are inherently safer than motorcycles. They aren't. In fact, I think that they're almost more difficult in a way due to the low power. You can't manoeuvre as freely and defensive driving becomes the name of the game. Need to change lanes? Odds are you won't be able to get ahead of the guy next to you.. meaning you'll have to slow down safely to get behind them.
    People in my city are also usually under the impression that they require no license at all and you see tons of idiots on them.. 90% of the time they won't even have a helmet either.
