  • Today's Buyer's guide is all about jig fishing! These are the best swim jigs, flipping jigs, football jigs and micro jigs we can find! We're covering jigs by application and looking at how head shapes and hook sizes impact the baits. We're also covering our favorite jig trailers for each jig style, as well as the rods we rely on to throw the various jigs.
    Jig fishing is a staple bass fishing technique. If you're not comfortable catching bass with jigs you still have room to grow as an angler. Luckily, the technique is actually quite simple and we can narrow it down for you with this guide. You don't need every jigs style. Typically one or two jigs will cover all the situations you'll face on your lake. Once you've chosen those, there will be several viable trailer options, a few key colors, and you're done!
    Below you'll find links to the exact jigs and trailers in the order we discussed them in the video. We've included our favorites sizes and colors for each category, as well as the rods we use to fish them. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

    I just checked TW and it says the jig sale was the first week. This whole sale by them is the most confusing thing I’ve seen. I think most people want to make 1 order with everything they need. The new website isn’t intuitive either. I’ve ALWAYS bought my stuff from TW but this year I’ve hit up other sales which offered everything at a discount at once rather than spacing it out. Hopefully TW learned their lesson.

    • @thesonorandesertangler

      Same! I created a whole wish list on my TW account and I didn't buy any of it. A local tackle shop did 25% off everything, so I just bought what I needed there instead.

      Unfortunately jigs went on sale long before we started the Buyer's guides. I'm sure they'll evaluate this sales structure once it's over and we'll try to talk with them as well to convey your message. We'll see what next year holds. 👍🏼

    Hey guys I live in north central AL and fish the Coosa and Tennessee Rivers all year long, idk if you guys have figured this out but in the late spring early summer when the grass just starts to get taller, about 1 ft from the surface, eel grass, you can take a green pumpkin stealth blade with a blue sapphire menace or craw trailer and let it lay on the grass and pop it up then let it lay back down, that is a damn good way to get those highly pressured gville bass to bite when they normally won't. It's not going to get you a ton of bites but they will be 3 to 6lb bites more times than not. The crawfish get the blue claws that time of year, the ones living in the grass do anyways

      Just buy the “if you could only have 1” and get started. Won’t catch them on it if you don’t use it. Pitch it along the edge of grass/weed lines, any visible structure, dock pilings, lay downs, and you’ll find em! Def easier in the warmer months. Just pitch it to your target, let it hit bottom, reel up you slack and twitch twitch, if nothing give it a hop, wait, twitch twitch. Repeat until successful. A decent quality rod helps feel those subtle bites too but don’t let that hold you back from trying.

    One jig that's missing that I've used to bust em when nothing else seems to work is the Z-man micro finesse jig with the mushroom head. Fishing it with the Z-man craw is good, but I prefer the Missle baits "drop craw". That skinny craw trailer on that tiny Ned style jig whack winter smallies when nothing else seems to work for me.

It's fine I just shop elsewhere at local retailers before going to them now. American Legacy, The Hook Up, and Omnia. Used to spend $1,000's at TW, but not anymore. Jigs used to be 1 of my favorite lures. In your spinner bait buyers guide you said that willowleaf bladed imitate shad. What spinnerbait Blade shape, finish & size do u use to imitate a bluegill?
    Thanks

      @tacticalbassin  8 місяців тому +1

      If the water is clear we still use willows but typically with gold blades, or bronze/green dipped blades. In murky water Indianas and even Colorados present a much larger presence in the water.

    I know you love the brailist, and I'm trying to figure out what else it is like. Does it have a similar action as the 7'6 MH moderate fast expride?

      The closest rod in the Expride line is the 7'7" Heavy (in terms of flex pattern) but it's admittedly a little stouter throughout.

      @@Cornelius798 Ok, I would probably start out with a compact casting/Arlie style jig or a finesse jig. These will get more bites and increase your confidence. If you have big fish in your pond I would just start with a standard size because big fish will have no problem with it. I would pitch around any shallow wood cover and edges of grass. Work the bait based on water temp. This time of year a slower retrieve should be more effective. Hope this helps 🙂👍🏻👊🏻🎣

    Agree the new site is so clunky and hard to see what’s in stock now that was the best part of the old. You have to click so much more now. It has totally made me buy less than usual.

    First off your videos rock i dont miss a one. However TW has to get their crap together. This sale structure sucks. I have a cart load of jigs and though they would be on sale. Not.... same with other baits i wanted to get from your buyers guide.

      I don't think they like the super fast actions on the JWR's for jigs. His favorite rod is the Orochi Braillist which is fast but parabolic.
