EXCELLENT EXCELLENT INFORMATION. I watch your channel religiously and learn so much. 39yrs old and starting to fish again and you help a lot. thanks again.
For colors, I have found matching jigs and trailers to match the forage of the lake I fish. Example the craws in my lake are brown on the exterior parts(such as the legs and pinchers) and the main body and head is black. So I match a brown jig with a black trailer.
Great information on turning craw sideways for Bluegill tails...can't wait to try...when I was a young lad, the only trailer we had was a Uncle Josh pork rind..they worked great, only problem was if the jar leaked or spilled in your tackle box....you had a serious mess...lol...thanks again for the lesson...

Very informative, thank you. This really helped me figure out what to do with jigs. Best color that ive found for my pond in texas is an alabama craw jig usually on a bandito bug or kraken kraw. Okeechobe craw is also a great color in dingy water ive found.
I agree on just about everything.. Great information and tips.. The only thing thing I see a little different through my experiences is that the trailer doesn't always have to match the jig. The most success in the Green pumpkin jig with a red algae crawl trail. That 1 did match. But the one that I use throughouse the Spring and Summer when the temp's got hot was a black blue with a white paddle tail.

I like using the Rage Menace on my chatterbaits and swim jigs. For bluegill I use the hard candy or candy craw. And since the ponds I fish have a lot of crappie I use the bluegill color with a green pumpkin shad skirt. To me it imitates crappie pretty well. The bass seem to agree. 😁

I use a paddle tail as a trailer if the fish are feeding on more cylindrical styles of baitfish. But the trailer that actually best represents the body shape of a shad, is a twin sided grub like the menace
I am new to fishing with jigs and trailers. What color would work best if my bait fish are craw fish and bluegill? Also would a Strike King Bitsy Flip be considered as a finesse jig? Also you make great videos I learn a lot from them.
Hi Tyler, i am just starting to try using jigs but my problem is that i fish from the bank only. my other problem is i dont know what size, such as weight, jig to use. what size, weight do you prefer when fishing from the bank? i really would appreciate your advice. thanks Tyler and take care!
If you think getting an elaztech bait on a heavy duty hook, you really would have hated getting an Uncle Josh pork frog jig trailer on a jig. I only fished them very early in my fishing career, I’m 49. There was bound to have been a trick to getting through basically a chunk of leather that was kept in formaldehyde until u put it on a jig. Old timers for the most part say bass held onto pork much longer than plastic and that they were tough enough to fish all day. You just had to keep it wet or it turned into pork rind.
The trick to getting a pork rind off the hook is to turn upside down and push and twist at the same time,, pretty easy after you get the hang of it ,! I’ve still got a lot of pork
I noticed that you never mentioned a swim bait as a trailer... would one work? Or is it better to use the plastics you mentioned in this video? Still striking out on jig fishing
Swimbait is really only applicable when bass are eating baitfish, which primarily happens in the fall and late spring. The rest of the year I’m throwing watermelon or green pumpkin based jigs since bass are then targeting bluegill most
Haha i love watching your videos and your content is very informative (and overwhelming as a brand new angler). I just find it funny how many ways there are to skin a cat. I dont know anything about lures, i put a live cricket on a small hook and caught a bass today haha i just wonder what the fish know about the difference between all these hundreds of lures
My friend hasnt been fishing since he was little. I took him fishing the other day and he called EVERYTHING a jig. He asked me to hook up a worm on a hook for him and this is how he asked "Can you put that jig on that jig? I dont know how."
@@TylersReelFishing thanks man for the reply! Again great videos i love shareing them with guys I fish with. A couple of us want you to do a video on crank' s shallow, deep, big, small, square bill, lip less, and so on
And this is why I fish and learn from myself because I've heard actual profession that are sponsored to say mismatch your color on your jig or your Chaturbate trailer each to their own it's all by feel fish and learn
Nothing wrong with mismatching color. Many multicolored jigs are made of colors and combinations that you won't find in your typical lake or pond, yet they catch fish. And large flair jigs, for example, almost always have what amounts to a differently colored trailer. Your typical game fish is not carefully analyzing lures for realism... If they did, jigs wouldn't work at all!
Brø I know people like seeing bent poles Any chance you show a little more pacing and touch than just just the slam? Thx That’s even more helpful, also 🌵🧀🐠
It’s the Anglr Bullseye! Pretty cool deal for pre-fishing/breaking down water but even better for actually fishing. The Anglr app is basically a digital logbook that allows you to drop waypoints and saves all sorts of data about each fish catch that you can come back in later and view or edit. Stuff like wind speed and direction, air temp, barometric pressure, etc. The app is free but they offer add-ons like the Bullseye that just make it a lot easier to use. That’s the little thing on my hat in the video. It’s like 30 bucks but you can bluetooth link it to your phone and that way each time you catch a fish you just hit the Bullseye and it logs all that stuff without having to take your phone out each time. People compare ANGLR to Fishbrain, but it’s much more helpful at making you a better angler than Fishbrain
Sorry to ask you something completely off the the topic of this video. Why do pro's fish a spinning reel lefthanded and a casting combo righthanded? I fish both righthanded. Am i wrong to do it this way?
No, you do it the best way possible, but most pro anglers (myself included in that group even though I'm technically not a pro), learned back when left handed baitcasters didn't exist much, which is why you see the switching. I am making a video about this soon
I was on my 12th fish and I let a buddy cast on the big girl at the end and his first crushed all mine in size. Got him hooked on buying a kayak to rip lips 💋
I used the real pork frogs 40 years ago, real pork skin flappy legs, had to keep them in the jar of juice they came in or they dried out. Remember them stinking pretty bad.
I met an old guy who made his own jigs i asked him what time of year was the best for jigs and he replied: yes. Best advice ive heard

The trick to getting a pork rind off the hook is to turn upside down and push and twist at the same time,, pretty easy after you get the hang of it ,! I’ve still got a lot of pork
That intro is cool😎
I noticed that you never mentioned a swim bait as a trailer... would one work? Or is it better to use the plastics you mentioned in this video? Still striking out on jig fishing
Swimbait is really only applicable when bass are eating baitfish, which primarily happens in the fall and late spring. The rest of the year I’m throwing watermelon or green pumpkin based jigs since bass are then targeting bluegill most
@@TylersReelFishing ok. I will change up my trailer and see what happens. Went out this morning and only got one to bite.
Trust me, they do haha
My friend hasnt been fishing since he was little. I took him fishing the other day and he called EVERYTHING a jig. He asked me to hook up a worm on a hook for him and this is how he asked "Can you put that jig on that jig? I dont know how."
Haha that’s funny
great video as always! keep it up!
Thanks Ethan!
Your videos are fire 🔥
Thanks boiii
You are the Bass wizard dude. Question though what size jig do you prefer? 1/2, 5/8, 3/4?
All depends on how deep you’re fishing, and how thick of cover you’re fishing. Deeper- usually heavier
@@TylersReelFishing thanks man for the reply! Again great videos i love shareing them with guys I fish with. A couple of us want you to do a video on crank' s shallow, deep, big, small, square bill, lip less, and so on
Will be doing tons of those soon!
What’s the best all around bait caster
All depends on your price range
And this is why I fish and learn from myself because I've heard actual profession that are sponsored to say mismatch your color on your jig or your Chaturbate trailer each to their own it's all by feel fish and learn
Nothing wrong with mismatching color. Many multicolored jigs are made of colors and combinations that you won't find in your typical lake or pond, yet they catch fish. And large flair jigs, for example, almost always have what amounts to a differently colored trailer. Your typical game fish is not carefully analyzing lures for realism... If they did, jigs wouldn't work at all!
Great trailer tutorial
Thanks Larry!
You Taught me something about a jig
Heck yeah! My exact goal
TylersReelFishing can I get A shout out for the next video
Plz😃
I love love love jigs and anything related thanks for the information dude
Of course!
God bless
Brø
I know people like seeing bent poles
Any chance you show a little more pacing and touch than just just the slam?
Thx
That’s even more helpful, also

Hi Tyler....what is that button you click on your hat?....is that a bell to let the fish know you are there????😀😀😀
It’s the Anglr Bullseye!
Can you show me how you want the jig trailer appendages going through the water column again?
All jigs besides shad swim jig and chatterbait: appendages horizontal as they swim
TylersReelFishing I think he wants you to wave your hands around again. Haha 😂
@@maxwellbaker3951 Glad somebody caught it. Let's me know there's still hope for the future after all!
i just bought the rage menaces before watching this vid thats good😅

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your cool I’m a fan
Great video brotha!!👊🏼
Can you put a video out, best way to work swimjigs?
Here’s the video! ua-cam.com/video/kAQgx3PLBxo/v-deo.html
