I’m a north country fisherman. Pit boss rigged vertically is the deal for bluegill imitation. I’m a Zako guys as well. Recently I have been using the Hogfarmer baits spunk shad and it is incredible as the tail quiver matches the blade speed. Speaking of chatterbaits... have you ever heard of Nate’s Custom Baits? Small domestic company that makes chatterbaits with hybrid, silicone, fur skirts. They are great when you want to show them something different. Keep em coming Matt. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

If I could only have one it would be the 5.8” Nories lady balance. Tight action, super responsive, will make a chatterbait hunt on a straight retrieve w/ quick little hiccups of the reel handle, comes through wood relatively well, and the best part no other boat is likely using it.

That was a great video. I have 2 out of the 3 you showed. I recently started throwing them and they have become one of my favorite lures to use. Your video really helped me with what trailers to use. My fishing buddy likes to throw swim jigs and has good luck with them. I have some but have never used them. I would like to know what type of trailers you would recommend for them. I really enjoy your videos. Have fun fishing and be safe on water.

Great tips Matt. I throw SK Rage Swimmer (boot) on my Swimjigs because they are denser than keitec and will impart roll action. I have always used the softer keitech 3.8 fat impact on my OG 3.8 ounce chatterbaits with good success but am intrigued about your idea of letting the bait hunt on its own. I use Razor Shadz on some of my jackhammers as well as Zako and SK Swim Minnow all 3 of those seem like the same idea. Certainly z-man elaztech durability/longevity is a plus, curious why do you favor Zako over razor shadz and sk swim minnow?

I can't load a picture to the comments or I'd show you. But I think it looks good in the water man. What the chatterbait does to the drop shot plastic gives it a totally different presentation. Maybe the bass will like it

I keep it really simple as far as a chatterbait trailer.. I use the yum split tail trailers.. This is the type of trailer that came on the original chatter bait.. I also use them on my spinner baits
. They work great.. And are cost effective. I own just about every soft plastic ever made in numerous colors but this one is simple and works great for me.. I know this is an old video and now the link to tackle is through tackle warehouse. I simply click on whatever the bait is and that gets me to tackle warehouse and I hope that means you get credit for it . I recently have made 2 orders through them And I hope you get credit for them.

If you really want to see that chatterbait get erratic and hunt- put a spunk shad on it by Hog Farmer- or any bait that is pretty much straight and has a whip like tail. The Yamamoto shad shaped worm works the same way- makes the bait super erratic and prevents rise.

@@MattStefanFishing Thank you man- I wish some of my knowledge would transfer over to me catching a damn fish but- this has been the hardest season I've ever had. I haven't caught a single keeper since Dec.- which was the last time the rivers and creeks weren't flooded and super muddy around here. All this rain we've had has pushed me onto the lakes because they stay much clearer and don't flood nearly as bad- but apparently I really suck at fishing lakes. Even the lakes are pretty muddy so, maybe that's my issue- I don't know. All i know is I went from having the best season of my life last year to having the absolute worst this year.

I can see the 1st 2 trailers being better smallmouth trailers because they can fold up better to let their smaller mouths get to the hook easier. Too bad we have very few smallmouth in my home lake. It was never stocked with them. The few we have were probably illegally transported from Texoma to here. I wish TPWD would stock them. What’s crazy is the lake has broken the Texas state Meanmouth record 4 times now. We have more meanmouth than smallmouth but they are very rare here themselves.
