Probably the most feminist thing I have ever seen. Making man feel women’s pain. I understand it is a super strong and disruptive pain, but there is really no need for this. Such a stupid thing to do and this man wanting to try it…

Is it wrong for people to want to empathize with us and understand our pain? First of all, the definition of feminism is simply wanting equality for men and women. Them being able to understand what our pain is like of their own volition is not torture. Your opinion but if I were a man, I’d like to know what my fellow women were feeling every month 🤷‍♀️. As a woman with PCOS, it hurts like shit every month. I’m bleeding heavily out of my ass and I need to take birth control to even have normal periods. Simulators can’t even replicate that 😂, they can only replicate part of the pain

Yep. But it goes on for days. They left out the bloating, the frequent changing and concern of leakage, water retention and the irritability from it all. Not to mention, but I will, the clothes not fitting and squeezing into them or searching for the “right” outfit because it fits or will hide leaks well all the while minding your temper while going about your busy day when you would rather just cozy up on the couch with a bowl of chocolate ice cream and a heating pad.

I tried one of these about a year ago (I'm a woman in my 30's with small children for reference) and ended up making an appt with my gyno upon discovering that though I don't have endometriosis, I have always since I got my cycle at 10 years old, had pain that was roughly a 10 or worse. I was always told growing up that nobody cared about my pain and that I needed to pop some ibuprofen, suck it up and deal with it. My gyno actually asked me "how could you think that pain would be normal for anyone?"

Plus, I felt my contractions all down my legs, just like cramps, and the hospital didn't really have any solutions for that. My cramps since then have been less. My mom says she was the same way. Debilitating before birth, manageable after. Midol and Advil still only help so much. nope. I have heard many stories. Nobody knows or cares until someone drops. The field is so overworked and fast-paced.
I used to pay attention to my co-workers and if I saw them not looking well I would intervene.
I remember a nursing coworker that I did not even get along with because she was never nice to me walk into the break room after her shift looking pale and barely able to walk. I said to her you do not look well. She said she did not feel good all shift. From the symptoms she told me and how she presented I said I think you need to go to the ER now. I said I would walk her down there to make sure she got there safely and I wanted to make sure she went. She refused me walking her there but she did tell me she would go to the ER. She did go. I dont know what happened since it is her medical privacy but she didnt come back to work for two months. She had been hospitalized.
When I worked as a pysch nurse, I saw one of the assistant not doing well at all. I was busy as all get out, like normal, but I stopped and started talking to her. She said she was struggling really bad with her own mental illness. At that moment she became my patient because that is how I saw it even if she was not admitted there. I said do think youll be able to make it through the shift? She said she thought so. She said, thank you most people dont even ask or care. I told her at any point to talk to me on shift or when I was off the shift.
You will find that in pysch nursing. Many of staff members struggle with their own mental illness or have family members that have mental illness and that brings them to caring for mentally ill.

Yes, you do. I've dealt with chronic pain for almost 27 1/2 years. Our pain threshold is lower, because our pain never fibers are always primed. However, our pain tolerance is phenomenal! I've stayed at home passing a kidney stone about the width of my pinkie finger and Urinating blood and blood clots, and being denied pain medication from the Urologist I first saw. I've also stayed home recently for 8-10 hours with Pancreatitis until I couldn't take the pain anymore. I've had both my kneecaps removed, and those surgeries were beyond agonizing. I've had brain surgery to remove a Pituitary tumor, and a headache that I got afterwards was so severe, I passed out from the pain. Plus, I had PCOS and Endometriosis for 28 years until I had a Hysterectomy. So, pain and I are well acquainted. Then, you tack on top of all of that, chronic pain patients pain meds being SEVERELY restricted because of the drug addicts, and living with pain becomes so much harder.

Or longer. Having PCOD, I often went for weeks on end, sometimes two periods within a couple of weeks of each other & once went for a period of about 6-7 months with bleeding that was bad enough that I couldn't wear regular kotex (I had to wear depends & even that was no guarantee against leaks). I asked my obgyn if a hysterectomy would be an option since having children was definitely not in the cards for me & was told I couldn't bc it would speed up the aging process (& this was from a doctor who had been in practice for close to fifty years). When I finally went through the change, you never saw a happier person than me just knowing that all that was finally behind me after decades of severe pain, etc.

Nights were long and even worse because throughout the night I’d doze off but a fresh wave of pain would wake me. I don't miss my periods. Partial hysterectomy is wonderful ! I have PCOS, and I didn't even know what it was, until I was in my 30's (started my period at 13). A week before it would hit, I would be really angry. Then when I would get it, I would go through hot flashes, horrible cramps, nausea (sometimes even vomiting), fatigue, and heavy bleeding for 7 or more days. The only time my Mom ever took me to the gynecologist, was when a week after my period ended, it started again. In 2015, when I was 35 and having the worst painful period I had ever had, I went to the hospital, where I learned about PCOS. One cyst was baseball sized, the other was softball sized. A week later, I was undergoing a laparoscopy to remove the cysts. Next cycle was fantastic. Minimal pain, and periods lasted 5 days. At 44 I had a partial hysterectomy, and now at 46, I think it was a great decision.

Okay I'm not trying to sound badass or brave because I have severe nerve damage that dampens pain for me. What's a 10 to most people is maybe a 2 for me.
I got to try one of these and I maxed out it and did some weight lifting, walking around, sit ups, and it barely registered. All the other guys that tried it with me were nearly crying at 7. One of the guys said I was faking so when they took the pads off me and put them on him he said the funniest shit I ever heard, "Go straight to max." The scream that came out of his mouth was gold. He sounded like he got hit in the nuts then inhaled helium. After the "experience" he couldn't walk for a couple minutes and he cussed me out. He was warned of my pain tolerance. I always tell people don't compare yourself to me because I'm extremely misleading.
I was getting blood drawn one time and a little girl was sitting a seat away crying. I felt really bad for her. The nurse doing hers told her to look at how brave I was and how it didn't even hurt me. She got brave and even though it hurt her she did really good. The mom and nurses thanked me for playing along. I told them I didn't feel a thing because of my nerve damage and they just stared at me. I've had "extremely painful" procedures done on me with minimal numbing and was perfectly fine. The doctors that know me don't even use local numbing for some procedures anymore.
I had to get a dye injected into my wrist for imaging and the doctor suggested I look away. I asked why and he said he's had patients pass out from watching. He told me he was going to numb it first and I told him he was wasting it on me. He did it anyway and he couldn't believe I didn't even wince. I wasn't acting tough, I just didn't feel anything but a tiny bit of pressure.

Remember the days we had what felt like white bread loafs as pads? They had so little adhesive that they barely stayed in place for an hour but it was still better than those with the loops that you had a special restraint for.
I remember my mom telling me about how they had cloth pads that they washed. My mom was 40 when I was born and she explained that because they grew up in very conservative times those pads had to be as white as snow and they had too dry them underneath their beds because their brothers weren't supposed too even know what was happening.
Mom said that was also one of the reasons why people so easily believed that a Stork would deliver a baby, pregnancy was not a celebrated event, but many time a baby would literally "just arrive".

They do the same exact thing as a “labor simulator”. So every time a woman has a period, she’s in as much agony as if she was giving birth? Both of which feel exactly like being electrocuted? No, I’m not insensitive to women’s pain- but this is overplaying it.

It actually has the same muscles acting in similar, if not the same ways. The main difference between period pains and labor pains is that period Pains tend to be fairly consistent (and if normal, below a 5), while labor pains tend to ebb and flow from a lower pain level to a higher one. I've heard some of my mother's friends joke about when they were giving birth, It was nothing compared to their period pains so they were actually a little annoyed about how dramatic everyone around them was acting.

Some women have an extremely painful condition called endometriosis that makes their cramps feel very similar to the contractions that women have while giving birth. So no, most women’s cramps aren’t as bad as childbirth, but some are just as bad or even worse. Especially when you factor in that childbirth is typically over in a few hours or day, and period paid last up to several days, combined with the fact that instead of a cute little bundle of joy you get a constant stream of blood and clots, I think it’s safe to say than in some cases period pain can be worse than childbirth.
