I’ve watched hundreds of golf instruction videos and nobody other than Steve Pratt really explains these fundamentals. I never knew this about the golf swing! Thanks for another great video.
This is no bull. I have been struggling with distance off the tee. 210, 220. Only 61 years old but pretty fit. Was trying to keep swing short for more accuracy and timing, but I still had zero timing, every swing was different, even though it was shorter. Your video was so helpful. In one day, I shot 1 under 71, 4 birdies, a double (missed green, 3 putt) and a bogie. Your video helped me to set the club and the timing is always there if you let the club stop on its own. I was stopping the club consciously and that is impossible to repeat, let alone get the timing down. I hit a drive today 286 (down breeze) but it was still so solid and smooth and I loved it man!! Thank you so much for this video. It changed my game in 1 day.
Played 27 again this morning already, lost that good swing. I don’t know what happened. Might have been taking it back too flat. I’ll work at it for sure. Dang it.
I’ve had great results from this piece of instruction! My fade with the driver virtually disappeared and I was hitting it 25 to 35 yards longer just by relaxing my grip and letting my left arm stay passive through the swing. This technique worked incredibly quickly. I was shocked to be honest! Will keep on this path going forward! Thanks for the clear, straightforward instructions and great content, Steve! Much appreciated.
I've only recently started watching your videos and you are the best I've seen in years . I'm 73 and your illustrations are unique . I live in Ireland and while I love Rory I'm a huge fan of Seamus Power a late developer . Well done
You are putting so much great stuff out that I cant work on it before I have to check something else out! So far I am struggling to blend, I go to the range with one goal and it works excellent, the next day I try to add and off the rails I go.
Steve, great video as usual thanks. I was always under the belief of having a very tight grip. Is the light grip just for the exercise or do you use it when you play? If I could make one recommendation for us lefties, better language is "lead" and "trail" so we don't have to translate all the time. :)
So important to feel the weight of the clubhead during downswing. That is only possible with an active body and loose wrists and correct distance from the ball. If you are too close to the ball you will end up bending your left elbow (chicken wing).
So, this works (grip pressure feeling like a 1 on a scale to 10). I may have to write this on a piece of tape and stick it to the back of my golf glove to keep from gripping too tightly.. Thanks Steve!
Should the player focus on the right hand throwing action. I find if I do not (I’m left handed) that the ball go off to the right (blocked). I know SA talked about it and MD showed an idea by holding a model airplane, but was curious about your thoughts.
Hi im very lose and relaxed but sometime I noticed my hands grip is very tight at the finish of the swing when I fold the club behind my neck . I think its because the speed I try to apply to my swing, do you think I should practice at a lower speed to relax totally the grip at the finish too? Thanks
What is really important is to keep the left arm straight in the downswing. I flex my left arm during my backswing, but it is really straight on the way down. It works perfectly for me at least.
Hi Steve I am trying to find a feel that is real. By that I mean should I feel the thumbs pushing the club away from the top of the swing? And should I feel the left arm slowing or the right arm accelerating to over take the left arm to create the whip of the club. Thank you for your videos have greatly improved my game.
I am fighting a frozen left shoulder from a motorcycle accident. I can't wait until I can get full range of motion in my left shoulder. I am just getting it extended past chicken winging it, but it still won't go straight :(
Put some barbeque sauce on that wing, and join me for a few beers. My chicken wing is so bad I need two bottles of Heinz to go with my swing. Then lots of cold draft beer to wash down all the frustration. Won't ya join me?
Hi Steve. How many players on the PGA tour move their lower center as Mike describes? I have watched your video. "Perfect Your Plan With This Easy Drill". Your description of how to stop the axil from wobbling is the best I have ever seen. I understand why you based your teaching philosophy on Mike Austin's teaching. Mike was way ahead of his time. I see that Dr. Kwon's research is based on what Mike taught. It's precisely the same pelvis motion as Mike Austin talked about. What I never heard Mike talk about was the recentering that Dr. Kwon talked about on the transition, shoulders, and hips closed then rotate open. Would appreciate your feedback, keep up the good work, and have a great day.
Steve. Thank you for replying to my post. One's you watch him you will know what I am talking about regarding the active lateral shift of the pelvis on the backswing and, the recentering of the hips and shoulders staying closed until the weight is 50% on each leg before the body opens up. I look forward to hearing what you think of his reaserch. Have a nice day.

Thanks Steve! I am coming off a slight injury (not golf related) so I am anxious to try this on the range tomorrow
Nice video, Steve, I will try, thank you.
Thanks for the lesson
I will try this Steve.

Use a piece of masking tape and black magic marker and affix to your driver head. 1

What is the name of your swing training aid please?

Wow those are really good feel questions! Confirm all feels with the triple threat: Ball flight, video, and Trackman data.

Sorry Steve, maybe this is a UA-cam thing but all your media inserts did not work, we see an error. Other than that, great video.

I haven't seen any Dr. Kwon videos where he is similar to Austin - yet. I will take a look. Davis Love III shifted like Mike.

@@Inmotion70 Hi Steve. Have you managed to watch any of Dr. Kwon's videos yet? Looking forward to your feedback.
