I blame that more on how Valve creates games more than anything Nintendo always has weak hardware so it isn't a surprise they would eventually port their older games once Nintendo catches up to them specs wise

That fact that a port of over decade year old games on the switch got me this excited is both sad and amazing

I've recently listened to the Portal 2 soundtrack in its own and almost couldn't believe how inspired it is. Those games are simply incredible.
Yeah everyone should take a moment to listen to Mike Morasky’s soundtracks of Portal 2 and TF2 on their own cause they’re fantastic
This may be an unpopular opinion, but Mike Morasky is better at making music that you can listen to out of the game than Kelly Bailey.

Can we all take a moment and realize exactly how awesome this is… Valve who is releasing a handheld console-like device of their own like in the next few months is also releasing their first party title on the switch when the more common move now is to make your first party titles exclusive to your platform.
Big respect to these guys for getting the titles out to even more hands vs locking people into their platform where they can maximize profits.
Valve still has morals it seems. Unlike some other handheld makers.

portal was not PC exclusive at all. They are maximizing profits by putting their most popular game on one of the most popular game consoles of all time. Its not exactly hard to imagine why they would do this.
Not only is the Deck cheap but they allow you to use other stores and operating systems.

The crazy thing is, Portal would be praised just as much if it released today as it was back then. It hasn’t aged a single day. Not even graphically.
Aesthetically it's great but graphically it has aged. That doesn't matter though still a 10/10 perfect game.

You’re right, I was kind of referring to Portal 2 specifically with that last bit, but I didn’t really want to take away from Portal 1 so I left it unspecified. My bad.
@@eclecticspaghetti It looks worse than you remember it, sadly. Still better than many games, but the textures are a little blobby and the lighting leaves a lot to be desired for the modern day. The environment detail is still unmatched though.
portal 2 maybe, hell if you slapped on some new fancy shaders and some minor polishing it could be passed for next gen but portal one is as 2010 as it gets.

When I saw the title "Portal" my heart honestly skipped a beat, I was so excited, I never thought I'd see the day. but sadly, not what I belived. So glad that a new generation of gamers are getting to experince the briliant storytelling and masterful level design that is portal 1&2
I couldn't be more happy, two of my favorite franchises arrived at the switch, Portal and Mother, today is a good day.

I don't think it will have any integration with Steam, I think it will be something like Portal 2 on PlayStation 3, so no workshop, no Robot Enrichment Store, but crossplay with PlayStation 3 & PC gamers.

Love it! These were some of the best games I ever played. Still have them around here somewhere. I will definitely buy myself a copy and one for my son who got a Switch for Christmas. He was too young back then.

The portal series has been my favorite game series of all time and having to see it come to the switch fills me with so much happiness. Hopefully this can spark enough excitement to maybe get Portal 3, but if not I hope the switch audience will enjoy these wonderful games

Portal 3 wouold seem great, but the story's over. It's like if Gravity Falls had a third season. It would seem good at first, but I don't think that it could at all live up to the first two.

Valve is like the only company i’ll never get tired of buying games from. Portal 1 & 2 fucking rocked my childhood, and then half life and steamvr did the same with my teenage years, i know we shouldn’t thank big corps bc they are what they are but thank you for the memories valve

They're not in Nvidia's hands, or did I miss something? Valve ported them to the Shield, but Nvidia didn't port anything in that regard. Yes, both have Nvidia processors, but you don't say AMD ports stuff just because a game works on AMD?
