I have the most incredible idea for the use of a Wheatley animatronic replica: So you know how in universal studios there’s an animatronic of donkey from shrek who can talk and reply back to guests? I was thinking the same idea, but for Wheatley. I was thinking if there is a Portal themed attraction somewhere, there can be an animatronic of Wheatley who can talk and reply back to guests, and there would be someone hidden away doing Wheatley’s voice and controlling his movements just like donkey in universal studios. I don’t care how much it costs I want to go to that attraction and talk to Wheatley!!!!!!!
If you’re actually going to build a second core with the Mark III design, I vote for it to be Virgil. There’s no other core that stands out like Wheatley in the canon game, and “Portal Stories: Mel” deserves the recognition
in the dev commentary they say its impossible to give them eyelids because they would have to clip through, and they know because they were forced to make peices that clip thorugh some others that arent seen to make eyelids. but you did it.
It would be really cool to see the whole circle in the middle be able to push forward, as that ads a great deal of emotional expression in the game. I can't imagine it would be anything but incredibly difficult though, amazing work already
The servos did a huge amount. Just look how smooth the results are. Epic project and outcome! I hope one day there's an "easy" way to get any voice you want do do what Alexa/Siri/Google Home does with open source.
Top notch work as always, the animations are really quite smooth, the only shakes seem to be when the eye drops down and gravity helps, perhaps with some software you can adjust the speeds. I will check out those servo's I need some for my projects.
its amazing finally seeing it in action. looks fantastic, even better than i expected. and you did a great job animating him id love to try making one but i neither have the money nor technical skills (nor can i mount rails to my ceiling). its very cool that you have the ability to do these kinda projects for all of us to see, and you're even sharing the files
I don't know how difficult this could be, but it could be possible to have ChatGPT or a similar AI text program control Wheatley by putting movement commands like "suprised" or "angry" (which would prompt preprogrammed movements) before lines of text that would be fed into an AI voice generator. This way, Wheatley might be able to respond to you talking to him in real time! Just an idea, love the build!
12:12 - 12:13. У меня после этого мурашки по коже пробежали. Это просто потрясающе! Надеюсь ваши работы заметят больше людей, так как этого вы и заслуживаете! ♡
It would be really cool if you built big boi Wheatley (as I call Wheatley when he is in charge of the entire facility) I want to see his little face open up. Its so cool.
This is the most accurate looking one you've done! I love the motors making the hiss when they move, gives it all just that detail aswell and brings it so much closer to feeling the way he does in Portal (I know they just make the sounds but it just feels too satisfying to hear em and not comment on em)
I hope you do MK-4 model with implementation of AI techonologies to make him more functional. Like: Voice input -> Speech to text -> AI chatbot -> text to output -> text to speech (Maybe even with Wheatley voice) = You have really funtional Wheatley at home. Also it would be cool if his movement was automated and he would look at you when you speak to him
I'm just gonna say it now. Imagine how amazing of a use case this would be for AI. Weathley is literally an AI, and if you had enough processing power at home and knew how to train a model on how Weathley expresses himself non-verbally, how he puts words into speach and how to translate that to the individual modules, you could make yourself a real Weathley home AI. This stuff is possible today!
This look so amazing Wheatley looks much brighter and alive now, im happy to see that the portal community is still alive even to this day! Btw your videos and works are marvelous and i hope you get the recognition that you deserves!
This so inspiring of what can be created in real life today. The snippet at 12:35 could be a great pre-roll for a channel trailer video. Appreciate the dynamixel reference, some modern actuators that would come in handy.
Now the big trick, is getting his specific jitteryness in how he 'moves' The Steam points store has several animated core icons that show off what I mean in comparison to a few of them.
I’ve only recently learnt about the Portal games, but I can easily say Wheatley is one of my favourite characters from them. It’s awesome seeing an actual animatronic of him
Amazing. I think it could use rotation about the thing it is mounted on - in some of the animations from the game, you get "nodding" expressions and I think that could really improve the animations!
What happened to animatronic Glados? You probably said the reasons why you might not work on it for a while or never work on it ever again in an older video but I’m curious, What happened to the older prototype?

id love to try making one but i neither have the money nor technical skills (nor can i mount rails to my ceiling). its very cool that you have the ability to do these kinda projects for all of us to see, and you're even sharing the files
Looks incredible, I was completely blown away how real this looks
11:31 He knows. He knows he's a puppet. But he just switched the roles.😮
I just rewarched the first video two nights ago lol. So glad to see this finally here
Bro's better at counting than valve 💀
let's be real, it's not surprising
12:12 - 12:13.
У меня после этого мурашки по коже пробежали. Это просто потрясающе!
Надеюсь ваши работы заметят больше людей, так как этого вы и заслуживаете!
♡
Amazing! Might have to build one myself once i finish my portal gun and radio. Been a dream of mine for a long time now
Thanks! Gotta finish those builds then (I need to build my own set too haha)
It would be really cool if you built big boi Wheatley (as I call Wheatley when he is in charge of the entire facility)
I want to see his little face open up.
Its so cool.
Dude, you seriously never fail to impress me with this on going project. I absolutely love this!
0:16 this looks so DAMN COOL!!!!!!!!!!!
This so inspiring of what can be created in real life today. The snippet at 12:35 could be a great pre-roll for a channel trailer video. Appreciate the dynamixel reference, some modern actuators that would come in handy.
This is like the animatronics you see before you get on a ride at Disney World.
Nah this should be an actual product 😂😂😂
this is so exciting ive been following the project since mk I and it has already progressed so much, great job
Now the big trick, is getting his specific jitteryness in how he 'moves' The Steam points store has several animated core icons that show off what I mean in comparison to a few of them.
I love it so much! I just like how he moves around!
8:42 - This is why you're here.
I remember watching your videos years ago, I'm glad to see you're still at it !
OMG THIS THING IS SO COOL, in all seriousness i love the design of your animatronics, and i hope to one day be as cool as you:)
OMG. This is possibly the most accurate version of Wheatley! Stunning job
Dude! I'm 2:30s in, and you have the LOST 108 minute countdown clock! That is freaking awesome dude!
One of my favorite old builds! (on another channel) I want to make a better version this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary
Sick! If you decide to do it I'll be waiting! @@MrVolt
And you end the video with a epic 360!! Holy moly, what a awesome build!
We got Wheatley IRL before GTA 6
outstanding work, mate. Stephen would be proud
THAT is a movie prop. When were you gonna tell us you're working on the Portal movie?
I wish!
This is genuinely so cool, my childhood dream come true, I grew up on this game
2:46 ITS OVER 500??!!??!!
Your videos on Wheatley, every single one of them, has made me go "GOD I WANT ONE THO" so many times.
I want a Wheatley Animatronic so badly.
Oh, he’s back from space, I guess I’ve got to send him back now
Great to see you still working on these, and best possible affiliate-sponsors you could get too, im making a note here: huge success! 👍😁
What happened to animatronic Glados? You probably said the reasons why you might not work on it for a while or never work on it ever again in an older video but I’m curious,
What happened to the older prototype?
GlaDOS was always trying to kill him and release neuron toxins into his lab, So he ended up canceling the project.
Oh ye I forgot about the segment on the end of that video 😆@@facetubetwit1444
I cannot stress how delighting this is to see and how much more satisfying the mkIII is. Here's for what's next!
Awesome! this just floated across my dash board, last time i seen your channel you were still on the mark1, MASSIVE improvements!
