One thing I love is how Portal 2's broken down GLaDoS is the design everyone thinks of instead of her old Portal 1 design. Let's be honest though, 2 looks wayyyyyy cooler
That’s because P2’s GLaDOS shows what the design is based on more clearly: a bound/chained woman, hanging upside-down by her feet. Gives her a much creepier and unnerving presence.
Let me just say everything I love about this short fan film (SPOILER WARNING): -I love the premise. Basically Aperture descends into chaos after they lost governmental contracts to Black Mesa. -The dark, gloomy atmosphere. It fits the tone of the short film perfectly. -The mind-blowing animation. I didn't expect such Hollywood-level animation from a short film. Absolutely blew my mind. -The voice acting. The voice actors did an amazing job, especially whoever voiced Wheatley, that was just a perfect impression. -The lore of the film. Basically takes the lore from the game, and adds so much more to it. Chell being designed for these tests, Wheatley originally used as one of GLaDOS's cores (which was briefly explained in Portal 2), the portal gun becoming dangerous, GLaDOS killing the scientists, and a lot of other stuff. I didn't expect this much lore, but it was so worth it in the end. -The music. The music was absolutely incredibly for this short fan film. The music adds a sort of immersion to the film. And that rendition of "Want You Gone" was absolutely beautiful. I espeically loved the little nod to the Portal song "Still Alive" at the end of the song, the song that was used in the first Portal game during the credits sequence. -The ending. The ending was nuts and I loved it. We actually got to see Gordon Freeman as he walked around a pretty empty wasteland. -Some of the special effects. Some of the special effects were absolutely mind-blowing. I really didn't expect such amazing special effects from a non-profit fan film of this magnitude.

I have so much to say I have been a fan of Portal ever since I was in elementary school, it was my favorite game for YEARS! Now I'm a film student to-be and it's extremely inspiring to see what a small team was able to create (even if it took two years). Hopefully if/when the sequel comes out, I'll have made some short films of my own! I really hope you guys succeed and REALLY hope you guys continue with the second part! I love the use of greenscreens, props, VFX, and 3D animation! And the music is on an entirely different level. It was also really neat to see Gordon Freeman at the end- I've never played any half-life games, but loved the cameo! Nice to see that the film stayed true to the game's lore but had its own creative twists. Absolutely loved this project and look forward to anything you guys may make in the future!

This video was AMAZING! I loved the different plots in there, and the commitment was amazing. things like the glados 3d printed head and the half life suit was indistinguishable from the original. amazing job on this, this is the best fan made live action film I have seen yet. this shows how much people love this game even now, thank you so much for making this.
Incredible way of telling the story. filling in the blanks when when you needed to. with stunning visuals and an epic soundtrack this was definitely worth the wait! I love the small details. and chell looks amazing! a very impressive film!!

Im watching this about a year after the video's release, and as a relatively new portal/halflife fan, I love this! Good animation, story, not to mention the cover! Great video, loved it!
this film perfectly describes most of the portal lore and how portals universe is within half lifes while at the same time its an amazing film Hollywood quality earned a sub and a like i really just wish there was more i could do to express how much i love this
For real, if a full official film was ever greenlit by Valve, they should get you guys on board. Sharene and Jonathan not only make for a good Chell and Doug respectively, but you’ve clearly got the hang of the animation for the robots as well. Oh, and not to mention showing more of its ties to Half-Life.

And the animations and special effects used were so cool! You guys did an amazing job with the atmosphere and overall gloomy/spooky vibe and the music was great! The concept of the GLaDOS project being abandoned for some time and not actually being fully implemented into the facility until years later is a different take than I was expecting. I'm here for it! Absolutely intriguing. Also a huge fan of how you represented the Half-Life/Portal universe, it really felt cohesive. Excited to see what y'all do next!

This was so so good! I know I’m expecting a lot here but I REALLY hope you make a sequel. But promise one thing. If you do make a part 2 then (unlike Valve) please make a part 3 too lol. Amazing job on this! Truly fabulous!
This was SO worth the wait! I loved every minute of it. Fantastic job. I love all the little nods to the larger Valve story and other fan works. Seeing the gun from Portal Stories: Mel made me so happy because I love that game just as much, if not slightly more, than the official ones.
As a massive fan of the games I've been waiting for something like this and I'm not disappointed. I loved it. Well done to everyone who has made this possible and thank you soooooo much.
I’m super late to this but I just want to say the tremendous effort put into this short film blew me away!! Everything down to the cinematography and references had me wanting a fully fledged portal movie made by you guys! I wish I got it in my recommendations sooner as a long time portal fan. Keep up the amazing work!!
This is actually the best Fanmade film I have ever layed my eyes upon, the story directly links to the lore of the games and I just cannot believe how overall good this film is. In short, 10/10 would watch again!

This film is awesome!👏👏👏 It succeeds at showing the Portal story from a backstage perspective. However I don't like the chrome on the turrents and glados. I always perceived them as having more of an Appolo-Ceramic material.
This was absolutely incredible, thank you so much for all your hard work on this! Brings back so many memories playing not just portal, but valve games with my friends back in the day
This was just Prue amazement. I was just wondering what the last 2 minutes where about, I am guessing that it’s from other games valve has made. But the channel and video is criminally underrated
Okay, this was nothing short of incredible. Other than TF2 (that will always be more of a cartoon), I honestly think that Valve’s games should look like this stunning hybrid of live action with animation wherever necessary (such as with Aperture’s many advanced products). This was INCREDIBLE! And for the things you included that weren’t contradictions to canon (James Dyco taking over after Caroline “disappeared”, why so many test subjects were in Extended Relaxation, the trigger for the true bankruptcy being the loss of contracts to Black Mesa in the early 80’s, why everything in Aperture seems to be sentient, right down to the literal wall panels), I’m excepting these as headcanon. The casting was incredible, too! There was the slightest of liberties, of course, but I thought the casting was perfect! I especially loved Doug’s voice actor. I am keeping an eye on you to see what comes next. I can’t stress this enough, but this was incredible. Are you absolutely sure you don’t work for a big-budget movie studio? Apart from the somewhat haphazard, g-mod-y style placement of GLaDOS’s voice lines, you could’ve said “yes” and I would’ve been completely fooled. Also, have you got a link to the version of Want You Gone at the end? I loved it!

I have been a fan of Portal ever since I was in elementary school, it was my favorite game for YEARS!
Hey! Matt here from the band ‘O.R.B.’ that wrote the tune in the credits. Given your comment, figured you might dig the full music video. Littered with lots with Easter eggs for sharp-eyed Portal fans -

As someone who wears glasses, I hate this trope so fucking much, taking off your glasses makes your vision worse, why would anyone take off their glasses after seeing something amazing? to see it in glorious 144p?
Depends
This is amazing!!! I love the actress for chell, captured her spot-on in my opinion as a big portal fan
Loved the use of the song at the start, really set the mood. Great job guys
We’re glad you enjoyed it!!!
Hi! Matt here from the band ORB. We were lucky to collaborate with these guys for the tune in the credits, and saw in the chat you might like to hear our full version! Its a fully animated video that ‘true portal fans’ might appreciate :)

That was the best fan film I have ever seen! I recently fell in love with the whole portal universe and this really put a cherry on top. Keep making films. That was awesome!
Thank you for the kind words and we’re glad you enjoyed it!
WE’RE NOW MAKING A HALF-LIFE FAN FILM!
To help us out, consider donating to the below:

any chance we could get the music tracks uploaded?
Is this the sequel? Ravenholme? I loved and hated that level
YEEEAAAAAAAAHHHH
Will you try to make a reddead redemption2 file of rather Morgan’s experiences leading up to his death
No, thank you for watching and leaving an awesome comment!
I was so pleasantly surprised to find this, it's amazing!
The Cave head from desk job too xD
Funnily enough, we started the film before Desk Job came out and we added the additional shots because it was such a cool aspect to the lore!
I'm convinced this needs a movie now. Better then cube.

"Unforeseen circumstances."
Hmm that sounds.. oddly familiar. But I can't quite put my crowbar on it.
Bloody awesome. UA-cam did a solid recommending this to me. Wish we had a full blown moving on this level!
Incredible way of telling the story. filling in the blanks when when you needed to. with stunning visuals and an epic soundtrack this was definitely worth the wait! I love the small details. and chell looks amazing! a very impressive film!!
The gordon freeman teaser at the end really ties it together. thank you. you delivered

Thank you so much, hopefully the film does well so we can make the sequel!
Im watching this about a year after the video's release, and as a relatively new portal/halflife fan, I love this! Good animation, story, not to mention the cover! Great video, loved it!
This was great to the last minute detail and the end with Gordon from half-life was great
So glad you enjoyed it!
That freeman impression at 24:31 is INCREDIBLE
However the HEV is on budget
this film perfectly describes most of the portal lore and how portals universe is within half lifes while at the same time its an amazing film Hollywood quality earned a sub and a like i really just wish there was more i could do to express how much i love this
Wait until part 2!
this video has been in my recvomended for a long time, and i'm so glad i finally had the time to sit down and watch it
For real, if a full official film was ever greenlit by Valve, they should get you guys on board. Sharene and Jonathan not only make for a good Chell and Doug respectively, but you’ve clearly got the hang of the animation for the robots as well. Oh, and not to mention showing more of its ties to Half-Life.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that we all can enjoy this high quality films for free here on UA-cam! Absolutely outstanding work 👏
My recommended algorithm has struck again!
This is a hidden gem that should be getting more attention.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words!
How have I not heard about this before? Why is it not EVERYWHERE? It's the best fan movie of Portal I've ever seen
Hopefully it’ll keep growing!!!! Thank you for the awesome words!
Legit a great film. Interesting takes on the lore and a wonderful little treat. Thank you for this.

GLaDOS: In the event your companion cube does speak, the enrichment center recommends you disregard its advice.
Ratman:
just amazing it was worth the wait everything is so great
this was a triumph!
Thank you so much Luis!
Probably the best fan-made Portal content I have seen. Fantastic job.
Thank you!
It's amazing how this game can have so much hidden under the surface
Very true!
This was absolutely fantastic-- the actors and voice actors did AMAZING! (serious props to the voice actors, those were some awesome impressions you guys!!) And the animations and special effects used were so cool!

Thank you so much! We do indeed have 2 sequels planned!
@@IP-Films omg yes!
Chells casting was spot on.
This was SO worth the wait! I loved every minute of it. Fantastic job.
I love all the little nods to the larger Valve story and other fan works. Seeing the gun from Portal Stories: Mel made me so happy because I love that game just as much, if not slightly more, than the official ones.
We’re so glad you liked the story! Hopefully you’ll enjoy part 2! Also please consider sharing and subscribing!
The opening had me in goosebumps with the cinematics and the opening music
Its clear that people put a ton of effort in this keep up the great work
Ah, yes. Giving the Ai that can control the entire facility ANGER of all emotions
I remember first discovering this back in 2020, just as amazing as I thought it would be :)
That really means a lot, it’s been a crazy process, but we’re so glad people are still here to enjoy it!
The transition from Portal to Half-life was smooth as heck...
This is sooooo cool! Always refreshing to have new portal content that is well produced.
Thank you so much! Love comments like this!
8:05 i like that the sciencist looked into the "barrel" of portal gun even that GLaDOS tells Chell to don't do it
Incredible, absolutely incredible. This is higher quality than some films nowadays
Thank you for the glowing review, stay tuned for part 2!
As a massive fan of the games I've been waiting for something like this and I'm not disappointed. I loved it. Well done to everyone who has made this possible and thank you soooooo much.
Thank you for watching! You guys are the reason we do this!
I’m super late to this but I just want to say the tremendous effort put into this short film blew me away!! Everything down to the cinematography and references had me wanting a fully fledged portal movie made by you guys! I wish I got it in my recommendations sooner as a long time portal fan. Keep up the amazing work!!
Thank you for the awesome comment, glad you enjoyed!
How has this been out for 4 weeks and only has 8.2k likes? This is AMAZING. My jaw dropped barely 30 seconds in. Fantastic work.
That's amazing! Great job to everyone involved. GLaD to see that the portal fandom is still alive!
Thank you for the kind words!
This is actually the best Fanmade film I have ever layed my eyes upon, the story directly links to the lore of the games and I just cannot believe how overall good this film is. In short, 10/10 would watch again!
Wow, that’s an amazing review, thank you so much!
@@IP-Films no problem, lots of love to everyone who was a part of this film's creation!
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here; "Huge success"
It's hard to overstate
My satisfaction
Aperture Science:
We do what we must
Because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead
But there's no sense crying
Over every mistake
You just keep on trying
Till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are
Still alive
I'm not even angry
I'm being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart,
And killed me
And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now, these points of data
Make a beautiful line
And we're out of beta
We're releasing on time
So I'm GLaD I got burned
Think of all the things we learned-
For the people who are
Still alive
Go ahead and leave me
I think I'd prefer to stay inside
Maybe you'll find someone else
To help you?
Maybe Black Mesa?
That was a joke *Haha - Fat Chance*
Anyway this cake is great
It's so delicious and moist
Look at me: still talking
When there's science to do
When I look out there,
It makes me GLaD I'm not you
I've experiments to run
There is research to be done
On the people who are
Still alive
And believe me I am
Still alive
I'm doing science and I'm
Still alive
I feel fantastic and I'm
Still alive
While you're dying I'll be
Still alive
And when you're dead I will be
Still alive
Still alive

I’ve seen other movies with chell and the actors they picked weren’t that good. But holy CRAP they nailed chell in this one
Terrific work! It's clear how much love went into this at every level. Give me a call when you want to make the reboot in the future ;)
Thanks for the lovely words! We already have two sequels planned!
Great job! You captured the Portal game's atmosphere. The end credit song was the icing on the video just like the game has.

You all put a shit ton of work into this. Well done.
2:30 yeah being locked in a dark room with no stimulation or social interaction with nothing but a cube will make it talk. I swear I’ve done it before they are actually great conversationalist but when people came back they stopped talking I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME MR BOXER! SAY SOMETHING!
So Much love was put into this i loved the half life bit at the end too everything was so well made i am really looking forward to seeing more from yall (:
The rattman character is just perfect, as a fan of portal i love the way you show aperture science and what were they doing.
Really great work, this is the best!
Thank you so much for the amazing words!!
this needs more attention. its a masterpiece of a masterpiece
Oh! Great job on the animation GlaDos gotta be one of my most favorite character of all time I’m glad to see people still making fan animations of portal and espically a master peice like this! :D
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
Finally the wait is over and I can tell you it was 100% worth it awesome work IPF!
Thanks for the kind words Rex, glad you had fun!
stumbling on here, i can say this is a great fanfilm film!
good plot, good music, good visuals.
Three simple words that are so complicated in practice, congratulations on pulling all three off!
You NEED to make a part two!
Hell yeah. Been waiting for this for a long time , but for some reason I didn't get notified . This is so good ! Sheesh , the quality of this movie is over the roof. Well done.
we’ve heard that from a lot of people sadly, but what matters is you’re here now!!! Thank you so much, we hope you enjoyed, please consider sharing!
It better have at least one of the songs teased!!! Been waiting so long for this ughhh

Edit: So pretty!
I'm happy that I came across this video. Looks like it was hard work to make this video. Congrats!
By the way, you deserve more subscribers
This film is awesome!👏👏👏
It succeeds at showing the Portal story from a backstage perspective.
However I don't like the chrome on the turrents and glados. I always perceived them as having more of an Appolo-Ceramic material.
This was absolutely incredible, thank you so much for all your hard work on this! Brings back so many memories playing not just portal, but valve games with my friends back in the day
Thank you for being a part of the viewing community!
This was just Prue amazement. I was just wondering what the last 2 minutes where about, I am guessing that it’s from other games valve has made. But the channel and video is criminally underrated
From Half-Life, but thanks for the kind words!
This is CRIMINALLY underrated.
This should have gotten a theatrical release. Who else thinks so?
I loved it!
