- This week we're planning out the bathrooms tile schemes. I have to go back to Floor and Decor, because of course I do! I was heavily inspired by our Harlem bathroom and the way the black and white tile scheme allowed us to put our own design mark on the space. I'm hoping to be able to add a little flare in the permanent elements but also keep the space open for a tenant to make the space their own. At the end we're also talking some outdoor demo!

The bathroom floor tiles in both bathrooms are so daring and interesting. I think the tiles really bring the look together. I like the touch of pencil tiles and the black and white colour pallet I think is a really classic.

Completely love the series! If I never understood before I really do know now why rentals have the most basic fixtures. I know you all are trying to be cost effective and cute but I still think it's very stylish for the rental side and could probably be even more basic/cost effective. But over all it still has Celia written all over it ❤
Understanding dawned on me too once I started looking at prices! I’m trying to give as much “Celia” as I can! 😝
Love the tile with the pattern for y’all’s room! I think the black tile would look neat going vertical up the wall, but stacked in a tall grid, rather than subway layout. I think this would compliment the vertical lines in the patterned tile nicely! If only doing subway layout, I think horizontal looks better! Love watching this series!! My husband and are sloooooowly renovating our first home and fixer upper. So it’s nice knowing we aren’t alone in having difficulty making decisions quickly! 🧡🧡🧡

Everything is coming together so nicely. I would suggest chrome fixtures for the renters (black tends to show wear over time). Might I add...I love how you styled your locs:)

😊 I have a small strip of flooring that captures my kitchen area in this studio so you tile subjects are helpful to me because the linoleum there is...not good🙃🙂. Oh & I found 5 vintage (a white marble-ish with brass on both ends) cabinet door handles a few years back at Goodwill that I'm trying to figure out how to finally use them in this new place.🤔
Your tenant is gonna love the black fixtures and they'll be inspired to step up to mid century modern standards😉🙂

Love your design choices. Honestly, I like the simplicity of the plain chrome fixtures without the brass, there's enough going on with the tile design.
Not a bad point! If I can’t find the missing pieces I need I’ll be forced to pivot. Once all the tile is laid you might be right! I’m a more is more and that’s not always right.

Loving your design eye! Tiles are very cute. I wasn't expecting to like the black in vertical but then..... I couldn't choose once you suggested it. Vertical felt a little chic-er.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE the bathroom floor tile you all are using for your side of the house! I'll admit brass does have me in a chokehold but I'm interested to see how the chrome will turn out. Also, great idea with the pencil tile for a little interest on a simple tile design. LOVE IT can't wait to see this space grow 🧡

Love the series. I like seeing the design process and seeing the break down in material cost. Would love to know about labor costs and choosing what subcontractors to work with. Also what’s your timeline and how’d you estimate that
But overall love seeing the process, I’m definitely invested and can’t wait for furniture and painting part of it all, 5 bedrooms to design 🤯🤯
Costs including labor is coming, and I for one was shocked! I’ll be sure to include all this info too! Thanks for the suggestion. We had a timeline but it’s been pushed back for a couple reasons.

I'm only commenting because you encouraged us to drop our opinion😅 ... matte tiles don't feel that great under foot and also they aren't the easiest to keep looking clean especially in a bathroom seeing with soap scum and hard water stains. But of course this is not a hard fact, it may or may not apply
So I definitely thought of this. I’ve tested the tiles under our water with and without soap to see what type of residue it left. I of course can’t simulate a whole bathroom full of tile but I was happy with my tests. The floor tile needs to be sealed so I can’t speak to those, but maybe they’ll be the deciding factor on hiring a cleaning person 😂😂

Love the “fun “ tile! Just a thought…😅…on the rental side fixtures…the black looks nice….if for some reason a handle i.e. needs replacing…as a landlord, would it be more pricey for you as opposed to basic ,easily sourced ,chrome? Just a thought…..😊
