"Baby Reindeer" wasn't an easy watch, but it was certainly an important one. Kudos to Richard Gadd for not only reliving his harrowing stalking experience, but reenacting his brutal sexual assault. I hope that there were therapists on that set, and that he didn't experience any PTSD symptoms. Jessica Gunning was also extremely chilling as Martha.
Ella Purnell is a star on the rise. I've been a fan of hers since Bittersweet and Yellowjackets, and she headlined two top TV shows of 2024. I can't wait to see what else she does.
Haha, I like to flex that I‘ve known of her since she had a small role as the younger version of Kiera Knightley‘s character in Never Let Me Go in 2010
Interview With The Vampire is probably one of the most underrated shows. Brilliantly acted, cleverly written and beautifully shot, yet it’s snubbed by awards shows. Maybe they just see “vampire” in the title and push it to the side.

Joining the Interview with the Vampire brigade. Impeccably acted, and extraordinarily written. Everyone behind it seems to have a unified vision of the story they want to tell, and have thought very deeply on what happens when someone becomes immortal, and when they’re made immortal involuntarily. What happens if you have decades to hold a grudge, but there’s only a handful of people in the world who you can talk to? It’s also a great look at the nature of memory, and the stories people tell to make sense of the insensible. The show also makes you hate the Game of Thrones showrunners for having Jacob Anderson and *wasting* him.
I just commented on the Games of Thrones thing too! I am glad he's getting the roles he deserves even if not the recognition he does reserve, he's amazing.
Last year your review convinced me to watch Blue Eye Samuari and I will not shut up about that show. So adding a few of these to my list for sure (Cleo sounds really good!)

Arcane, Interview with the Vampire, and Agatha All Along were my favorites this year. I know people aren't loving Marvel right now, but Agatha All Along really had so much heart, so many crazy reveals, and such a clear and confident creative vision, with the standout ofc being Lilia's episode Death's Hand in Mine.

Agatha All Along definitely makes my list. But thanks for the recommendations! Thanks to you I discovered Blue Eyed Samurai and 1899 days before it got cancelled.
The Penguin was such a surprise for me. I went into it knowing and expecting nothing, but it was such a masterfully written season, I’d genuinely put it around Arcane season 1 tier writing.
Arcane being as big as it is while having so much representation (lesbian, POC, etc.) is absolutely amazing and so important. Not only are the characters diverse, they aren’t just side characters who aren’t important. They even gave them great designs. Mel, ambassa, ekko, etc. their hair? Realistic and beautiful. They aren’t just bald or shaved or wearing wigs, they actually incorporated black hair styles and it’s amazing.

Shogun is one of those rare shows that catch you off guard completely because of how tremendous it is. It has been quite a long time since I have seen a show where every SINGLE detail, moment and character matter. If you have not seen it, you need to fix that IMMEDIATELY.
I love these end of year recaps because they give me something to watch in the new year. After your phenomenal review of Blue Eye Samurai last year, i binged it with my wife and she's still asking me occasionally when the second season is coming out! This year I think Pantheon will be our first watch
You should seriously check out AMC+ Interview With The Vampire!!! It is in my opinion the most well made show like… ever. Its infinitely rewatchable and you’ll find something new every time- the music is perfect, the cinematography is gorgeous, the actors are some of the best working right now- all perfect
Probably the 100th person to mention this by now, but STRONGLY recommend *interview with the vampire*! It's SO good; it's such a beautifully crafted story with insane acting and world building. If you're like me and haven't read the books, it's so thrilling to experience the twists and heartbreaks. It's a show that takes its audience seriously and forces you to pay attention to details without spoon feeding information just like Dark and Arcane. Despite being about vampires on the surface, it's really a show about relationships and how they change over time and how deeply toxic they can be. The show also is a masterclass on showing the effects of an unreliable narrator right from the outset.
I’m glad you haven’t read the books, because it’s allowing you to fully enjoy the show without comparing it against its source. However, after the show finishes, I encourage you to read at least the first four books of The Vampire Chronicles.
Baby Reindeer almost made me cry. It opens with him in the police office and goes through a few episodes before you realize the show is not really about what you think it is but the way they did it was so genius and hit you like a brick wall.
Hey, this got me thinking: have you ever watched Interview With The Vampire (the series based on the books my Anne Rice)? Idk if it's your thing, but the acting on this series is so insanely good I think you should give it a shot! It's probably in my top 3 of the year, maybe top 1.
interview with the vampire and why women kill are immaculate TV shows and dare i say some of the best yet underrated shows of all time, period. i could write essays about them and although why women kill got cancelled and hasn't had a season this year or in a few years, it still holds up and i could and HAVE rewatched both many, many times- in fact the other tab i have open is me rewatching iwtv for the 4th time💀they deserve(d) all the awards and praise in the world and i will never shut up about either of them !! i recommend both to anyone and everyone out there, don't miss out on absolute masterpieces of television. it would literally make my life if you did a review/talked about either or both of these shows at some point, seriously just go watch them and you'll get what i mean when i say masterpiece :) edit: thank GOD i'm not alone in raving about interview with the vampire in the comments !! i'm so glad that EVERYONE, from the creators and writers behind the show to the actors who appear on it and fans like myself alike, are *so* passionate about the show to be spreading the word and trying to convince literally everyone they know to watch it. i have truly found my people in these comments lol‼
Great list! Interview With the Vampire is my personal favorite series of the year so far. I also loved A Man on the Inside, very wholesome, funny, and real.
I recommend the show "Say nothing" on Disney+/Hulu. It's a story about two sisters who live in Belfast during the 1970s - 1990s and get involved in the ongoing conflict at the time. It's based on a book with a similar name, which in turn is based on true events? (Question mark because the people the characters are based on claim that certain things didn't happen or at the very least deny involvement). It's a nine episode series and one of the standout hits for me personally!
Given the amount of comments I see here about Interview With the Vampire (and the fact that I, myself, was waiting for it to come up in the video), I can only hope you (and everyone else) watch it and maybe even make a separate video on how phenomenal it really is (pretty please? 😅). It deserves all the attention, recognition and awards, and you won’t regret it. And it sure as hell needs more people like you and Autumn Brown talking about it. :) The acting, storytelling, writing, design, directing, music (fucking music omg!!), costumes - the show is fantastic to the very last t! Easily my Top 1 this year 💜
Agatha all along was honestly the surprise of the year for me, when it was announce i honestly thought i wouldnt care about a show about agatha, but i was wrong. Even with its missteps, i came out loving the show a lot. I could write an entire essay about this show, the characters, the writing, the pratical effects, etc. I just got so obsessed with it and i would give it a 8.5/10.0 (If you havent watched and liked/loved wandavision i would recommend this show for sure 🤗)
I LOVE Agatha All Along. Finally, the MCU has put out a good product again. It has many twists and turns, great musical numbers, emotional moments, and Kathrine Hanh is stunning as Agatha. The supporting cast is also amazing. I didn’t think a show about Agatha Harkness would be good, but I was so glad to be proven wrong and I can’t wait to see her and Teen again
The season was rocky but ep7 was amazing and the reveal in the beginning of ep 9 blew my mind (while in hindsight making perfect sense)! Fun show overall, with a catchy soundtrack, loved the song they kept singing, plot just could’ve been better overall.
The only issue I have with the western animation renaissance is that children's cartoons (which I'd argue had its own renaissance in the past decade) is being left behind, mainly because the big producers don't want to risk making controversial kid's shows in this political climate, and hence they don't end up saying anything.
Would just like to point out that the Mr and Mrs Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is not the original, the original was made over eighty years ago by Alfred Hitchcock.
I know a lot of people are worried for season 2 of Shogun bc it will be completely original but I'm personally really pumped. I LOVED everything about the show... until the end, which to me felt like the biggest blue-ball ending ever. I was so excited to see how Toranaga's plan would play out and to then have like 2min of just exposition dedicated to explaining how he won felt like such a letdown, even if it's faithful to the book, so I really hope they kinda pick up where they left off
Shōgun is a historical novel, and the creators of the show have plenty of information about the real story of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who became the de facto ruler of Japan and was given the title of shōgun. That will allow them to to develop a second season. I also hope they develop other shows based on James Clavel Asian saga.
A few people have commented about Interview with the vampire, and I agree, it's amazing, but how is nobody mentioning Slow Horses? Literally the best show on tv right now.
Thank you!! You have given me an amazing list of shows to watch, that I had avoided because they didn’t feel that compelling to me, and you have changed my mind. There are other great shows that I wish had made your list or at least gotten honorary mentions, like Interview with the Vampire season 2, The Day of the Jackal, Silo season 2, Agatha All Along, “100 Años de Soledad” and maybe “Como Agua para Chocolate” (although I’m still dubious about it). I believe that there are many TV shows that are offering what Hollywood studios are afraid of: brilliant new concepts or reinventions that challenge and engage us. It saddens me a bit that people are not subscribing to Apple TV+, because its whole catalog is amazingly good. There are a few movies and shows that are just good, but most of them are great. Thank you again for doing the hard work. Happy New Year! I hope 2025 brings you success and satisfactions; that the obstacles you face are interesting challenges that allow you to learn and grow, and that any failure you experience doesn’t stop in your path.
Curious what your thoughts were on The Decameron And yes, you absolutely need to get onto Interview With the Vampire. It's such a good show it actually got my ass to start reading Anne Rice.
Cien años de soledad (100 years of solitude) was also great in my opinion. I only discovered the show a couple of days ago cause somehow I missed its promo entirely (even though I adore Garcia Marquez). It is a Spanish show but with good English subtitles. It was produced by Columbians, played by Columbian actors and filmed in Columbia (which I love and I reckon the author would have loved as well). I think it captured very well the guttural passion of the original story. I heartily recommend it.
I totally agree with you. I also mentioned it in my comment. If you like fantastic realism, I suggest that you also watch Como Agua para Chocolate in Max. I’m not certain yet if the show is as good as the movie, but it’s worth watching.
The Penguin episode 4 was the very first episode I remember that made me almost sick. It was such a hard watch but such a masterpiece. This show deserves all the awards
Kleo is so good! I'm pretty glad you put it on your list this year since not a lot of people seem to know it. Also thanks for the list, there are defenetly some shows on here that I need to watch. I appreciate these type of videos every year and I've found some gems thanks to you
Thank you for talking about Pantheon. I was one of the 6 people that got to watch it before its netflix release it is criminally underrated. I found it back in January, my personal favorite show find this year.
"Phoebe Waller Bridge" and "Genius" being in the same sentence is quite the surefire method for making me bleed from my earlobes. That aside, I did watch Pantheon back when it initially came out and had no idea there was a second season, yay.
Hi Friendly Space Ninja. I played this video thanks to the thumbnail and was happy that Fallout and Arcane were in the list of best shows of 2024 in your eyes. But the minute you mentioned Sweetpea, I punched the air in excitement. I am convinced that I am the number one fan of Sweetpea in the whole world. To the point where I feel like a maniac recommending this show to every living soul I find. It's also the first time I have seen Ella Purnell in literally anything. And man, the minute episode 1 ended I knew two things. This show was gonna rock and I had to binge this show in a day, which was easy given its 6 episodes only. Until Arcane, which also has Ella Purnell, Sweetpea was the only show aside from X-Men 97 which kept me on a chokehold from start to finish. And between Arcane, Fallout and Sweetpea, like you mentioned, Ella Purnell has been on a hot streak. To use an F1 analogy, She's been showing Max Verstappen levels of consistency with her projects and thanks to being in awe of her range, making me feel sad, terrified, cheerful and excited about the badassery of her characters, I have now become the biggest cheerleader of Ella Purnell. Thanks to the experience of Sweetpea, I got to check out three of her short films, namely Candy, Right Place Wrong Tim with Asa Butterfield and Junk Male, which she directed. I also checked out her movie Wildlike, a roadtrip movie with Bruce Greenwood. After hyping up Sweetpea and Ella Purnell to a massive degree with my father, he eventually relented and watched it and to my surprise, he enjoyed it and was impressed with her too and asked if there would be Season 2, I happily said yes and I celebrated it like a birthday. With the year coming to an end, I will always be thankful that 2024 introduced me to Ella Purnell and her many talents, properly.
@TheCatWitch63 Depends on which country you are. I am from India and it wasn't promoted here either. But I got lucky thanks to an Insta edit for Sweetpea, which began with Ella Purnell was wet, soaked in blood and screaming to the mirror. Then I found out it was in an OTT Platform named JioCinema, which is the home to Sky TV shows in India now and binged it in a day.

I LOVED My Lady Jane. It's one of the few adaptations that I felt was superior to the book and I was so excited and pleased with it, recommended it everywhere, spent weeks wondering if season 2 will follow up the cliffhanger or if they will jump straight to doing My Plain Jane instead.....and then CANCELLED! I'm so devastated.
The Pantheon release was so stressful. It was confirmed to have 2 seasons right away, so I went in expecting it not to get cancelled and be left incomplete. Then, shortly after season 1, it was taken off all streaming services and there were rumors of it being written as a tax write-off. So we'd never see season 2, and the story would be left incomplete. But then like a year later, season 2 just drops out of the blue.
@SethCrimson the 2nd season is actually on UA-cam, but it's kind of butchered. There's a lot of licensed music in it and the audio gets overrided with free use stuff and kind of messes up the production. The only real way to watch it as intended is to start looking at less than legal methods. Here's hoping Netflix gets the rights to season 2, but I have a feeling amazon won't want to give it up to them since they own the rights for season 2.

After your phenomenal review of Blue Eye Samurai last year, i binged it with my wife and she's still asking me occasionally when the second season is coming out! This year I think Pantheon will be our first watch
For me, Dead Boy Detectives was definitely my favorite show this year. It has meant so much to so many people and its such a shame it got canceled..
mad underrated
Yes! It’s cool and cute at the same time! I liked it a lot but sadly it was cancelled
thank you it was cancelled the most boring show
Can’t believe it’s been a year, I still have a bunch of shows from your 2023 list yet to watch 😅
Finally, I can form my opinion on TV shows in 2024
Interview with the Vampire was the best in my opinion
Interview With The Vampire should definitely be spoken about both seasons so far are some of the best television on tv at this moment in time ‼️🙏🙏🙏
You should seriously check out AMC+ Interview With The Vampire!!! It is in my opinion the most well made show like… ever. Its infinitely rewatchable and you’ll find something new every time- the music is perfect, the cinematography is gorgeous, the actors are some of the best working right now- all perfect
yayyy perfect timing for watching something while painting :))
Same
Probably the 100th person to mention this by now, but STRONGLY recommend *interview with the vampire*!
You NEED to see Interview with the Vampire the new series, both seasons are AMAZING! i Trully think you'd love them .
From season 3 and Interview of a Vampire season 2. I think it was an amazing year for tv series even the underrated ones
Love this list. Interview with the vampire was my fav show this year though.
Baby Reindeer almost made me cry. It opens with him in the police office and goes through a few episodes before you realize the show is not really about what you think it is but the way they did it was so genius and hit you like a brick wall.
Interview with the vampire !
Hey, this got me thinking: have you ever watched Interview With The Vampire (the series based on the books my Anne Rice)? Idk if it's your thing, but the acting on this series is so insanely good I think you should give it a shot! It's probably in my top 3 of the year, maybe top 1.
i second this ^^ the day friendly space ninja reviews/talks about iwtv is the day my life is complete tbh- it's just SO so good
interview with the vampire and why women kill are immaculate TV shows and dare i say some of the best yet underrated shows of all time, period. i could write essays about them and although why women kill got cancelled and hasn't had a season this year or in a few years, it still holds up and i could and HAVE rewatched both many, many times- in fact the other tab i have open is me rewatching iwtv for the 4th time💀they deserve(d) all the awards and praise in the world and i will never shut up about either of them !! i recommend both to anyone and everyone out there, don't miss out on absolute masterpieces of television. it would literally make my life if you did a review/talked about either or both of these shows at some point, seriously just go watch them and you'll get what i mean when i say masterpiece :)
edit: thank GOD i'm not alone in raving about interview with the vampire in the comments !! i'm so glad that EVERYONE, from the creators and writers behind the show to the actors who appear on it and fans like myself alike, are *so* passionate about the show to be spreading the word and trying to convince literally everyone they know to watch it. i have truly found my people in these comments lol‼
Yea, I'm so happy seeing the comments. I remember being the only one talking about it in last year's video. 🥹
Great list! Interview With the Vampire is my personal favorite series of the year so far. I also loved A Man on the Inside, very wholesome, funny, and real.
My favorite that's not mentioned was Agatha All Along. I haven't had such fun with a show, especially a Marvel show, since probably Wandavision tbh
I got a little overexcited when I saw that clip of Agatha on the road at the start of the video 😂😂
I'm so glad you watched Pantheon and appreciated it, this series is mind-blowing in ways I can't explain, and almost no one knows about it 😵💫
I love that the guy who made The Batman looks like BTAS Commissioner Gordon
I recommend the show "Say nothing" on Disney+/Hulu. It's a story about two sisters who live in Belfast during the 1970s - 1990s and get involved in the ongoing conflict at the time. It's based on a book with a similar name, which in turn is based on true events? (Question mark because the people the characters are based on claim that certain things didn't happen or at the very least deny involvement).
It's a nine episode series and one of the standout hits for me personally!
Jerry denies being a member of the ira...
The acting, storytelling, writing, design, directing, music (fucking music omg!!), costumes - the show is fantastic to the very last t! Easily my Top 1 this year 💜
For me the best tv shows of the year are Interview With The Vampire and Shogun.
Episode 5 of IWTV is legendary
Agatha all along was honestly the surprise of the year for me, when it was announce i honestly thought i wouldnt care about a show about agatha, but i was wrong. Even with its missteps, i came out loving the show a lot. I could write an entire essay about this show, the characters, the writing, the pratical effects, etc. I just got so obsessed with it and i would give it a 8.5/10.0 (If you havent watched and liked/loved wandavision i would recommend this show for sure 🤗)
I agree with you. I was dubious about watching Agatha All Along, but was surprised to see how good the show is. It grew on me.
@@TheCatWitch63 and also is a show that has great rewatch value, when i rewatched knowing everything it made it even better for me
I LOVE Agatha All Along. Finally, the MCU has put out a good product again. It has many twists and turns, great musical numbers, emotional moments, and Kathrine Hanh is stunning as Agatha. The supporting cast is also amazing. I didn’t think a show about Agatha Harkness would be good, but I was so glad to be proven wrong and I can’t wait to see her and Teen again
agatha all along was the surprise of the year for me, it was surprisingly good
The season was rocky but ep7 was amazing and the reveal in the beginning of ep 9 blew my mind (while in hindsight making perfect sense)! Fun show overall, with a catchy soundtrack, loved the song they kept singing, plot just could’ve been better overall.
I‘m German and haven’t heard of Kleo!! Thanks for recommending it, I’ll definitely watch it!
definitely agree with one day being in the honourable mentions, that show ripped out my heart and stomped on it 💔
Seeing all the comments talking about Interview with the Vampire yuppp exactlyyyy SHOW OF THE YEAR.
The only issue I have with the western animation renaissance is that children's cartoons (which I'd argue had its own renaissance in the past decade) is being left behind, mainly because the big producers don't want to risk making controversial kid's shows in this political climate, and hence they don't end up saying anything.
for me number 1 is Interview With The Vampire ❤. i am obsessed
DANDADAN was My favorite! Okarun and Momo are so CUTE❤❤❤❤
Baby Reindeer in the thumbnail I said yeah exactly
Kleo finally getting the love it deserves ❤
Would just like to point out that the Mr and Mrs Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is not the original, the original was made over eighty years ago by Alfred Hitchcock.
The day of the Jackal is brilliant as well.
Goated show.
i'm very surprised that interview with the vampire didn't make the list ngl
I also hope they develop other shows based on James Clavel Asian saga.
just base it on the real history which the book kind of was, the REAL issue is giving blackthorne something to do since he dont exist
I'm one of the few who watched Pantheon and it's f***ing fantastic. Thanks for spreading the word.
My guy I’m begging you to watch interview with the vampire
Curious what your thoughts were on The Decameron
And yes, you absolutely need to get onto Interview With the Vampire. It's such a good show it actually got my ass to start reading Anne Rice.
RIP MY LADY JANE. I WATCHED YOU!!!!!
Love that arcane is in it
If Phoebe gets to be called "genius" for what she achieved, then we need another word for real geniuses.
Interview With the Vampire was the best show of 2024.
I'm happy multiple animated projects made it to the list!
The Penguin episode 4 was the very first episode I remember that made me almost sick. It was such a hard watch but such a masterpiece. This show deserves all the awards
This year was okay but 2025 is looking insane! Just January alone is crazy.
I just found this channel and it feels like discovering a band with a huge back catalog to explore! Love it
"Phoebe Waller Bridge" and "Genius" being in the same sentence is quite the surefire method for making me bleed from my earlobes.
That aside, I did watch Pantheon back when it initially came out and had no idea there was a second season, yay.
season 2 on youtube or by pirating
Naaaaah, the 90’s X-men cartoon still holds up. I never watched it as a kid and just now binged it so believe there was no nostalgia bias from me
Hi Friendly Space Ninja.
Where can I watch Sweetpea? I haven’t seen it being promoted on any of the stream services I have.

@ El Salvador
Cool to see Dead Boy Detectives in the intro, it was my favorite this year 💀👻🔍
hell yea
From, from season 3 dropped this year and it was just amazing, would recommend
Interview with the vampire
1st season: great
2nd season: incredible
2nd season 5th episode? It should get all the awards of the world.
I discovered so many beloved shows thanks to you! Thank you for keeping this tradition ❤
36:34 fallout is that series you watch and then forget it exist
True 😂😂
The Pantheon release was so stressful. It was confirmed to have 2 seasons right away, so I went in expecting it not to get cancelled and be left incomplete. Then, shortly after season 1, it was taken off all streaming services and there were rumors of it being written as a tax write-off. So we'd never see season 2, and the story would be left incomplete. But then like a year later, season 2 just drops out of the blue.
Where did it drop I can't find season 2 anywhere
@SethCrimson the 2nd season is actually on UA-cam, but it's kind of butchered. There's a lot of licensed music in it and the audio gets overrided with free use stuff and kind of messes up the production. The only real way to watch it as intended is to start looking at less than legal methods. Here's hoping Netflix gets the rights to season 2, but I have a feeling amazon won't want to give it up to them since they own the rights for season 2.
@dowatyoudo well damn I was wondering where OP was referring to it dropping but I'm also in the US idk if that makes a difference
@@SethCrimson I sailed the high seas for season 2. Since it wasn't available in my country.
Not sure it's new, but Kevin Can F Himself was great! The tonal shift between sitcom and drama was super interesting
Friendly space ninja you should do a full video on banshee! It’s the most underrated show ever and needs to be talked about more!
