Lou, you and the owner made my day! Not only did he save it from an ignoble end, but he brought it back to showroom stock! Bravo!!!
Hi gojoe283, Happy to read this video made your day :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
We had a gold color 65' Park Lane Marauder 4 door in our family. 390 , 4 barrel ,dual exhaust. A/C etc.,etc. My favorite car growing up. A little story for you all:
Back then the mild steel exhaust systems would rust through in a matter of a couple years in Illinois.
One Winter , with my mom driving, my sister and I were fighting in the back seat. My mom screamed at us and floored that big 390 at the same time. At that moment the rusted exhaust blew out a muffler body and that thing ROARED! Scared the heck out of all us, fighting stopped and no one said a word til we got home...

Beautiful example of a Classic Full size automobile Mercury style. 😊
Hi Jerry, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
My Dad co-owned a Lincoln-Mercury dealership for 17 years so we owned a lot of Fords, Mercs and Lincolns. Loved the '65 Marauder, a wonderful road car with a smooth ride and plenty of power for passing. Thanks Lou for posting this...
Hi T. R. Freeman, Thank you for sharing the details of your Dad's place and adding to the story. You're welcome, Lou
Awesome car. The sister to the Galaxie! Lol. Love that little anecdote. I miss Mercurys so much. They were always more luxurious than their Ford counter parts. From least expensive to highest level: Monterey, Montclair, and Parklane. Very interesting how this gentleman saved this car from the derby. Love all the original paperwork.
Glad you enjoy this "awesome" car Kenneth White :-) Happy to read you enjoy the paperwork, Lou
I hate demo derby's, (along with stock car race accidents) and how those cars were wasted. I cringe just thinking about them.
Wow what a super nice Montclair. Lou nobody does original and rare American muscle like you, a big thanks.
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you're enjoying the selection of cars I like to share. You're welcome, Lou
Mercury in 1965 was looking to move its big cars more in the direction of Lincoln, and you can see a clear resemblance at the front to the '65 Lincoln, so they advertised it as "now in the Lincoln Continental tradition". At any rate, I think Ford did a magnificent job making a box look amazing (ditto the '65 Ford)! BTW, you may recall yet another turn for the Marauder in 2003 and 2004. Those were based on the Grand Marquis.
Many thanks to Carl for sparing this beauty from the derby at the 11th hour, and to both of you for showing it to us!
Hi iswc27, I agree, glad he saved this car :-) Lou
My old man had a Black '64 Marauder similar to the one sitting next to this '65. I remember how cool it looked, but I was only around 8 when it got stolen from an Almacs parking lot...I know dad had a soft spot for that Merc' because when I was a little older I asked him what the best car was, and he said "one that's still there when you come out of the store"
Hi charles 1964, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Thank You Lou for all that you do to keep those memories alive for all us old "car crazy kids"
Nice! I think this is the earliest model Marauder I've ever seen, & boy does it set the bar pretty high for the next one! Thanks for sharing it w/us, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Glad you enjoy this one. Regarding "the earliest Marauder I've ever seen" bring that bar up and stay tuned :-) Lou
And....you're welcome, it's my pleasure.
The blade style tail lamps always fooled me as I mistake them for a 1972 Cadillac. I also enjoy the little extra touches such as the emblems on the dash, steering wheel, and underhood. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you're enjoying the details. I like those also :-)
Bought a brand new 65 2dr Parklane with 4sp and bench seat. Never seen one like that. Beautiful and dependable.

Loved the video, my Uncle had a 65, Mercury. I was surprised at the engine color since my Dad's 63 Galaxie engine was blue. Ford and Mercury's engines were the same engines except for the valve covers that were stamped with the appropriate car brand. My Dad's 66 Comet and 69 Montego engines were blue, but gone was the Mercury brand stamped into the valve covers. The Comet was an inline six, it had a plane valve cover. The 302 V8 in the Montego valve covers were stamped "Powered by Ford". One thing I saw on a recent video of a 65 Mercury Parklane Marauder was the Mercury logo on the Dashboard light up when the lights are turned on. It looks like the same logo in this car. I am surprised the owner didn't mention that.
Hi Daniel, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Love the monster 390!
:-)
This is an amazing awsome Mercury.
Extremely smooth design.
It's just like one original big classic brick. They don't make cars like this beauty now.
Thanks LOU for sharing a wonderful classic.
Please have a wounderful day.
Wishing you all the best success in the the business .
CHEERS
Kind regards
HISHAM ELFIKI

Well said julius ceasar :-) You're welcome, Lou
Oh my good! My father bought a Mercury Park Lane 65, when I was 10 or something. This was in Finland and at the time generally american cars were used as company executive cars. This car was also. In those days roads were defrosted with salt in winters and cars were not rust protected at all. It rusted away and my father got rid of it about five years later. Now, when I see all these details of the car everything comes back and I really miss the feeling of cruising in it! If I had a lot of money - which i don´t have I would try to find a Mercury 65 to restore for my old days. Thanks for the video!

Beautiful rare mercury. Love it
Happy to read you "Love it" :-)
Nice Marauder! Love them! I.love how he loved his car and the knowledge he had on it us all the paperwork! Thanks Lou for sharing!
Glad to read you enjoy the details and think this one is nice Steve Flad. You're welcome, Lou

Actually if memory serves me correctly, Marauder refers to the roof line. Mercury also made Breezeway models with the vertical retractable rear window.
Hi Dave, Thank you for sharing, Lou
Very lovely Mercury. Really pretty deep green n offset beautifully by the white. Surprising how big the interior is, n those seats are like sofas. The dash is shiny pretty and I love the emblems. Nice classic lines to this one. Love the chrome ribbed rear end, beautiful detailing. Great car that gots the goods... enjoyed the vid. Thank you
Hi WickedFireFly13, You're so right. there are so many details to this car. Badges, little chrome pieces, and great interior :-) Glad you enjoy the details and the video. You're welcome, Lou
nice car ..and i know this car too ...i have seen it many times at carlisle and talked to this man for years...all 1965 full size mercury's if they were either a 2 door or 4 door hard top..thats what made them a marauder ..i have owned a few 65 mercs
I find it fun when I see a car I'm familiar with :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing 390merc 66, Lou
I love that car Lou
Hi Paul, Happy to read "I love that car" :-) Lou
Sounds Awesome !!
Glad you enjoy the sound of this one Super Case :-) Hope you see many cars you enjoy on the Channel, Lou
My kind of cars of the sixties. Bueatiful!!!
Winner :-)
The 78-87 GM G-bodies had an optional button in the glove box as well. It energized a solenoid which unlocked the deck lid.
I like those details :-) Thank you for sharing.
Mercury cars were beasts.
Glad you enjoy this "beast" Jed Clampett :-) Lou

LOVE IT. When people would ask me why I didn;t run my 429 mustang in the Silver State Challenge I honestly told them, it can't go 110 miles on a tank of gas! Not with my foot in it! Doing much better these days. Put fuel injection in it.
Glad you "LOVE IT" Toy Man TV :-) Lou
Did not know the Montclair series had the Marauder package…it is a rare one.

How cool - I never knew anyone who drove a Mercury until I rode in a 1965 driven by a girlfriend at Tucker HS!
Good times, good time :-)
Wow demolition derby a Marauder? Gutsy. What would be crime!
Glad to receive a "Wow" from you Lynx Star Automotive :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
If that a 65 Marauder drove past me I'd know exactly what it was. I owned a 65 Monterey Marauder years ago. I think I'm gonna buy another one.
Hi Classic Ride Society, Happy to read you know what this car is :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of your Marauder soon, Lou
Beautiful car great shape
Glad you enjoy the looks of this one Pete Medina :-) Lou
Not a bad car....almost as good as that 1966 Mercury Comet convertible.
Hi Gail, Happy to read "Not a bad car" :-) Lou
It looks Britain!!!
Thanks for sharing.
I think I saw this very car at MusclePalooza at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY.

Those Cars Float over bumps in the road.
Comfy :-)
Rear as hens teeth lou, really cool car.
Hi Jason Meehan, Glad you enjoy the "degree of difficulty" in finding this one to share :-) Lou
I have a 65 Montclair breezeway I had since 71 when it was only 6 years old and paid $1200 for it then and has a 352ci V8 Automatic, P.S. P.B and tilt steering wheel.
Nice car :-) Thank you for sharing.
If it came from Waterloo NY, it had to be purchased from Lincoln Mercury dealer in Seneca Falls! ?
Not sure.
Wow! Ten days away and snatched it from the wolf pack.., it would have been a shame to let er get ripped up. And the work that went into the restore gets another Wow! Personally, I'm not fond of this car - BUT - I appreciate art, even if I don't love a particular piece of art., it earns respect. If that makes any sense. These classics, the good, the bad and the ugly, have personalities that few if any cars on the roads today have. Of newer cars that I love most - are those whereby they attempted to recapture the spirit of the beast (Mustang, Camaro, Charger, etc). They have far better definition. Most cars today are just variants of comfortable boxes on wheels - lol. That's purely just my opinion of course. Everybody has em. :-)
Hi I'mTheDaveman, Received a two "Wow's" for a car you're not fond of......Nice :-) Lou
To Kenneth White. The '65 Ford LTD had a more luxurious interior than the '65 Park lane. In later years the Ford LTD Landau's luxury group was identical to the Mercury Grand Marquis.
Hi Larry Hawkins, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
First one for me Lou....nice find! 👍👌👏
I do like to find something you don't see everyday (or ever). Thank you Duececoupe, Lou
Hey Lou! Lovely looking 65 Mercury Montclair Marauder. No, it's not a Toyota Prius, which is what I like. You see Prius a lot these days. You don't see that many Mercurys of the 60s like this. :)
Hey Jason!, Glad you enjoy the "lovely" looks of this car :-) Funny you should say that, because when I was helping clean out the trunk before we did the video with a section I like to call "trunk & treat" where I layout the brochures, I found two Toyota Prius back there :-) Lou
ROFFL! Really? Toyota Prius brochures? In a Mercury Montclair? Wow! I've never owned or driven a Toyota Prius, but I have ridden as a passenger in one.
No two actual full size cars :-)
I'm joking like two actual Prius's would fit back in the trunk....Oh well you know how it goes, when you have to explain the joke, I guess it was not that good to begin with :-)
Wow! Nearby! Have you ever driven a Toyota Prius? :)
I never understood the "Marauder" model. The logo's got the cool checkered flag and bad-ass name, but even in the case of this beauty, it was a 2 barrel luxury liner.
Marauder 1. to roam or go around in quest of plunder; make a raid for booty: Clearly this big Merc.
Hi GrandFunalley Media, Clearly you're right this big 390 2 barrel is not the top performance engine.....however if you check out the trunk of this one, and you stop on a document I videoed, you'll see there was a "Super Marauder with a 427" and I get the feeling that one for the day moved pretty good :-) Lou
At the sign of the cat !
Nice :-)
🏁🏁💪👍 J'avais 3 ans ✌😉👍💪🏁🏁
✌😉 Merci mon Lou 😉✌
Hi LIBERTY MAN, Glad you enjoy this one :-) You're welcome, Lou
Good video ,needs more commentary.
Glad you enjoy the video and thank you for the tip.
Didn’t know Marauder came with a 2 v thought they were all 4 barrel
I find that fun when I'm learning from the Care Takers about the cars.
You can consider it as a Mercury version crown Vic
Thank you for viewing & sharing.
Nice restoration on a low option 2 barrel 390 car. Marauder was meaningless after 1964,was no longer a separate model.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge john dillenger, Lou
Demolition derbies should be made felonies. Freedom is great. But false freedoms like derbies are destructive ones.
Mercury did a great job with boxy design, unlike Dodge did with their 1966 and up Coronet. I'd buy one of those Mercs in a minute, if I only had a chance to.
Dude, grease those trunk hinges sometime. That screeching is almost as bad as the chalkboard scratch
Thanks for viewing and sharing.
It's not a Prius. It looks a million times better!
I agree.
Swweet :)
Hi Michael Coffey, Glad you enjoy this "swweet" one :-) Lou
Something tells me you took a lot of video that day.
23 over the weekend.
I'll bet you felt like a kid in a candy store :-) I'm looking forward to seeing all those videos.
You had to pay “extra” for a “padded instrument panel?” Definitely, NOT one of Ford’s “better ideas!”
Hi Fred, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this UA-cam Channel, Lou
Damn 2nd place :( oh well at least I got to see this nice car.
Glad you enjoy this car Josh Cade :-)
You know wha tho, the quality of the cars showing up is going up and up. Getting more difficult to place high.
It sucks that Mercury went out of business. 😢😢😢
I remember reading something (it might have been Dr Suess) and it said, don't be sad it ended, be glad it happened. Hope that helps SuperWizard101 King, Lou
It did help and since Mercury is no more seeing one on the road is pretty cool.
Stay tuned I have a few more coming I think you'll like :-)
His was the lighter Green than Yours.
Thank you for sharing.
Like the car not the color
Red or black or two tone.
Hi James, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts, Lou
Merc glorified ford. Sounds like a 390 put a
426 cobra jet in this merc
Hi James, You'd like that motor just a bit bigger :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts, Lou
First!
You're not a short man, but standing next to him you look like you're off the curb! That guy's a monster!
Neat car, and well kept ...not a performer, but a very respectable candidate for a cross-state ride. And very suitable for road and traffic conditions of the day back then. I always liked Mercurys.
Winner.
