      He's not a HOFer for his playing days. He legit averaged like 7 points a game most years and only took wide open shots when he was on the bulls, and played like 15 minutes a game. If he does end up in the HOF, it'll be because he kept winning as a Coach of this team

      @JR Logue Not mentioning D'Antoni as mentor to Steve Kerr is a disservice? Why? They had plenty of disagreements between them at Phoenix when Kerr was his GM. I don't think Mike was mentoring Steve there at all. How could he? Steve was his superior in terms of position/role on the team.
      Phil and Pop were clearly his mentors as he was coached by them and won under their coaching. He has said that even.

    In a book that I read - it said that Michael Jordan would often forget Kerr was on the floor because he was looking to either score, pass to pippen or drive to the basket. Pippen would come over to Kerr during stoppages in play and say "I see you open, let's get you some shots."

    Steve Kerr is honestly an underrated coach. He'll retire top 5 all time. Steph Curry is the system in Golden State, but Steve Kerr's philosophy is the reason why Curry ever got the chance to play the way he does. Even when he's been out with the back-related issues, his system is so strong and convincing that the team can almost run without his constant, direct intervention.

      Personally I’d need to see him coach a different team or different squad but say when the Warriors eventually break up or retire and Kerr retires 🤷‍♂️ how do we rank him? Don’t know how good he’d be at saying building a lottery team into a contender but a HUGE part of being an all time great coach is being able to get the best out of top talent and he can clearly do that with the best of them

      Itachi Uchiha Steve Kerr was. Before Steve Kerr, Golden State were bitchslapped by the Clippers in the first round while Draymond was coming off the bench. The next year, they won the chip, Draymond won DPOY, and the entire league knew that Steph and Klay are the most dangerous shooting backcourt in NBA history. Give the man his credit

    • @georgesanchez8051
      @georgesanchez8051 6 років тому +4

      Fat Boy I agree that it would strengthen his case to see him to coach a worse team, but I meannnnn he took a team that barely made the playoffs by ~2 games and turned it into the team with easily the highest winning percentage in a 5 year span ever. If you think about it, that’s about as big of a jump as you could ever ask for. *Granted*, huge credit it also due to GOAT executives Jerry West, Bob Myers, Joe Lacob, and Peter Guber for bringing new coaches and making the right free agency moves.
