Chili is the last thing on the hotdog. Everything else goes under the chili. Proper hotdog etiquette. Unless you add slaw. That goes over top the chili.
Holy smokes! Just made this. I put my own little twist on the spices and used Dijon instead of regular mustard! Used Hawaiian roles with a butter and garlic sauce toasted on the buns. Tillman shredded cheese and purple onions on top. One of the better meals I have made.
Well, ok, I made this today, Omgosh, scrummy ❤️!! I am a American living in the UK for 23 years and had forgotten how much I missed hotdog chili. This recipe brought sooooo many memories back to life, thanks !! Made a ton and froze it for left overs, brilliant recipe, thanks xx
I normally never follow online recipes but I stumbled across this one and made it to the letter…this is honestly the best hot dog chili I’ve ever made. Thank you. All I did was add a touch of vinegar at the end because I like a BIT of acid. Other than that…it’s perfect.
Everyone thinks it's weird when I boil hotdog chili and mash it with a potato masher. It looks like pink slime at first, but once that water cooks off, it is the finest crumbling chili.
I just made this with Turkey due to my husband having a red meat allergy. I just used the Better than bouillon chicken base and everything else the same. He really misses all the wonderful things like chili and I had to try this recipe because I’m a Southern girl! Amazing so don’t be afraid to try it!! ❤️🥰
Thank you Tobias it turned out great! I made a smaller batch with 1 Lb beef and tweaked my water ratio a bit with 1/2 cup of beef stock that I needed to either use or throw out and it made for a nice enhancement. Thanks again your recipe is superb.
OUTSTANDING CHEF! I have had this chili in Philadelphia on dogs, tried to replicate but failed. Your recipe is golden. I will give it a try. Thank you and God Bless you. Bob from Clearwater, FL. Yes, I am second generation Italian American, and I love soul food, and your videos will teach me how it’s made with love.👍❤️🇺🇸🙏🏼✝️
Hi Tobias .. I’ve waited all my life for a great chili recipe with my hotdogs.. My search is over at age 89 with your recipe.. it definitely looks to be the one I’ve been looking for specially without the beans.. I am looking forward to making it as per your instructions.. but being single, I definitely will freeze the balance and share some.. Sometime see if you can find Dietzen Watson hotdogs they make an excellent large beef hotdog at least 10 inches long and taste great.. I am also a deer hunter and when I make it again, I would use 3 pounds of venison excellent meat taste and no fat very lean meat.. If I were to cook it a second time, I would divide it by thirds.. one of your viewers is recommending Chopping up the hamburg right after brazing it in the frying pan.. then you wouldn’t have to expend that much energy at the 30 minute mark of cooking. What I like are your viewers who are willing to share their expertise enabling you to make your offering possibly better and more versatile.. Thank you I am following you.. I’m from New England ..a Yankee and I love rebels
Buddy this is just good! I really enjoyed your fun demeanor. I literally just made this and it's freaking AWESOME. I hope you continue to make content.
I got some of that chili on stove now. The best ever Tobias. Seriously delicious. No salt even needed. ❤ Ps: I thought that special bouillon was a bit pricy at $6. I used the old fashioned beef cubes. It was fine
Looks great. I am going to make this this weekend. I will make one change: I will drain the grease off after the meat is browned and just before adding the water.
Awesome recipe!! The only thing I would have done differently would be to use finely shredded cheese and finely chopped diced red onion and finally top it off with chives or green onion. I can't wait to try this!
Imma be real, this is the best looking hot dog chili recipe on UA-cam. Not even Chef John from Food Wishes - a GOAT - can make what I’m looking for. This is it. Thank you so much, Tobias, I can’t wait to make this
OMG! My BFF a Caucasian decided she wanted to make chili dogs. That was the first time I'd ever seen anyone add water to their hamburger meat. I said girl you doing it ALL wrong she said trust me. When I tell you those were the best chili dogs So years later I add water to my hamburger and it does make it tender. ❤
This is why America is shattered. What country is she from? I don't understand caussian. I am American I bleed red. I also think chili, doesn't need to know color or country your from. Stop allowing division.
To be honest she said that because it no secret people of ethnicity always say Caucasian people CANNOT COOK. No lie just straight truth. We could talk about racism that is still present today towards blacks but for some reason as soon as we make jokes about the MASTER the cops get called 😂😂😂😂Let's talk about the racist president who was elected. Who you vote for???? Statistics say you did 😂😂😂😂 MAGA it's never been great for us. Look at history and take a fucking joke we have been taken real racism all our lives and still manage to keep our heads up.
As an alternative, after browning the meat you can put about half in a food processor. Just pulse it a few times until it gets to be almost like a paste, but not that much. Then add it back to the rest and you have some texture from the original and the chopped beef "paste". Trust me, it gets it nice and tender. Then you can add water and cook to tenderize even more.
My grandpa made his hot dog & frito pie chili like this! It is sooo good 🤗 I make a large pot and then freeze some to give to our daughter (she has 3 boys). She says her friends always ask for the recipe. Your right it just elevates that dog! 🤣
West Virginia has the best hot dogs. A great slaw dog. A proper hot dog chili, instead of sauce. It's hard to get them anywhere outside of WV, unless you make it yourself.
Wow... what a great video! Your detailed instructions are awesome. Thannnnk you so much. I cant wait to make this! All the best from the east coast of Canada.
I can’t wait to try this. We’re having chili dogs and macaroni salad for Memorial Day. I usually make my chili with beans, but this smooth hotdog chili looks amazing.
Good morning beautiful ❤️ OMG 😳 There is NOTHING LIKE A GOOD HOTDOG CHILI!! TY YOU ARE WRONG FOR THIS ONE! I'm so craving hotdogs 🌭🌭😋!!! Your title said it all honey! Award Winning this chili is Baby!! I will NEVER get my kids out the house making this chili!! Another Great video my love THANK YOU FOR SHARING ❤️
This is spot on. Simmering the meat with water may look strange but it’s the only way to get the right texture on the meat. Nothing worse than a hot dog chili with big hard chunks of ground beef!
Good morning! Yes that’s how I make mine but with no onions us Marylander and Washington D.C….. whenever people visited Washington D.C got to hit up The Chili Bowl, that’s a must. Excellent job Tobias everything you make looks delicious 😍❤️
Excellent cooking tutorial. You answered questions I wanted to ask in the interim of explaining the purpose of the ingredients used (if that makes sense). For example the brown sugar needed in spite of your choice to use (no sugar added ketchup)🤌🏽👌🏽!!! Thanks a bunch 😊✌🏽
I was looking for a good hot dog chili, and this seems to be just right. I love my nice chunky bean filled chili, but that isn't made for hot dogs. This recipie loogks nice and easy and great, thanks for sharing!
Well said, presented and instructions. Question!? Even though you used btb can you use either beef stock or chicken stock instead of regular water? Which one would you go with? Thx
I made it yesterday and my husband LOVED it! He said that he doesn’t want me to buy that can chili for his hot dogs ever again. I froze 3 bags of it for his convenience. Thank you 🤎
And my chile looks like ground beef stew without both 🙁 lol. Only if your channel comes up before other channels, my chile would look just like yours lol. My first time making it. Mine was edible but it didn't taste right. Yours look delicious and the way Chiles should look and taste 😋. Love your humor!
Just made this for an Event for Autism that I will be selling chili cheesr dogs same hotdogs with Sara Lee buns AND BABYYYYYYYY I DAMMMM NEAR WON THE CHILI COOKOFF CONTEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 BUT I SOLD OUT AND EVEN HAD A GUY TO GET A HOTDOG BUN AND STRAP THE POT 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 THANK YOU IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOODT THEY SAY

your husband doesn't have a red meat allergy. it's 100% manufactured in his mind.
I don't think there's such a thing as a "red meat allergy."
