In Hawaii we always go barefoot in the house… we don’t wear shoes from the outside in our house. Don’t know what is at the bottom of the shoes. I love hot dogs and never made hot dog chili before.. looks amazing
Thanks for the video. When I saw your video title, I thought it was a chili recipe that used hot dogs instead of ground beef. I did not know it was how to make chili to put on a hot dog.
Skyline chili is fantastic but then I like all Cincinnati chili recipes! Not to take anything away from your chili because it looks wonderful and tastes wonderful too! Love your recipes, thank you for sharing!
Wow!! Love the cast iron cook'n Redheadded Homemaker. Agree just rince after cooking w/acidic foods. Subscribed. Will try your water/meat combo technique.
Hey thanks for the tip about the water in the ground beef to get a small that's nice I'll have to try that I suppose if you had two lb you would use a half a cup of water right
Except for the cinnamon that's how I make my chili too.. But I am looking for a looser (thinner ) gravy style sauce.. If you know of one let me know.. It's hard to get a thinner sauce without losing the flavor or making it too tomatoey..
Cornbread really isn't cornbread unless it's made in an iron skillet now if I'm just making cornbread to put it in dressing I would make it in a cake pan other than that there's nothing can beat iron skillet cornbread
I have been for along time. Be careful on the bottom of your pan that you don't have a full circle hwat ring. All my pans are either griswold or old lodge that are either smooth on the bottom or have notches. Full heat ring could cause a suction and crack your top. Also I don't slide mine much to help minimize scratching. Hope this helps.
Old mother comment about using her cast iron pans... if you EVER put tomato sauce or a steel spatula in my cast pots, you'll be wearing it as a crown... I think my mother would understand the cornbread skillet.
I've made hot dog chili recipes that call for cinnamon, and I personally don't care for them at all. It's gives the ground meat a pronounced flavor that just doesn't compliment a hot dog. Just my opinion!!!
I agree totally, cinnamon belongs in cakes & pies. Also I've made different hot dog chili's for over 20 years, and so many call for ketchup which is great for sloppy joes, but not for hot dog chili!!@
@@theredheadedhomemaker7644 Soak a pound of ground beef in cold water for about 45 minutes. (Ensures the right consistency, like you mentioned.) Drain meat and put it in a saucepan. Add 2 cups water, small diced onion, 4T chili powder, 1tsp of cumin and oregano, salt, pepper, and chili flakes to taste. Bring to boil, then simmer til cooked thru and the consistency wanted. This is a tweaked version of a recipe I found for a Lehigh Valley PA hot dog restaurant chain. I can already tell I'm going to be making a lot of chili sauce in the future! Yours, mine, and a combo of the two.
@@kdevon4736 this sounds delicious. I love PA. We use to go a couple times a year to Lancaster. I haven't been in a while but hoping to go soon. I can't wait to try your chili❤
I really appreciate that she got all the mustard out of the measuring spoon. Chili looks good.
Never waste a drop🙂
Great looking recipe and great tips; will try this. Love it when people share the secrets of a dish.
You rocked it girl. Simple, quick and I,m sure tasty. Saving this vid fo my next batch. Thanks !

I just never thought about pre freezing before vacuum sealing, simple but brilliant, thank you for the tip!
You are welcome

I honestly hate shoes. Wish I didn't have to ever wear them. 😕 praying for Hawaii.
Thanks for the video.

Looks really good, thank you 😊
Thank you.

If you like Cincinnati Chili the secret is Cumin not Cinnamon...
Great video ! that's exactly how I make mine. Great idea about freezing the onions. I bought them Frozen but I've never Frozen them. Take care
Thank you so much!!! I try to make things easy on me❤❤❤
I also have a video of how I froze my onions..
@@theredheadedhomemaker7644 I will check that out thanks. Have a good week

That is awesome!! Thank you for subscribing.
@@theredheadedhomemaker7644 I think you also solved a problem not only with chili, but with making a less chunky Bolognese pasta sauce. Cheers👍
I put water in my hamburger when making any kind of sauce and I also put water in my sausage when making gravy❤❤❤

Half of cup would be good. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I love the name of your channel haha. Amazing. Thank you!
Thank you. A friend of mine came up with it.
@@theredheadedhomemaker7644 So great💖
Leftover Chili is pretty good on baked potatoes too.
Yummy that is what we do..
Recipe please
thanks for the tip on adding water
You are very welcome❤
Thank you , never knew how to get the chili so fine
I also do this to sausage when I'm making my breakfast casserole.
Wish you had a recipe in your description box. Those are the recipes I keep.
I'm going to start making videos again. When I do I will make sure to include the recipe. Thank you for watching.
I know I'm way late here, but great tip about the water. Still perfecting my hotdog chili recipe and that helps a lot!
I add water to my sausage too when making breakfast casserole.
Good video Yes it does look broken up hoping to do some chilly will be using les ketchup however
Yes Hunts is the best thank you
All we use. Thank you for watching.
Wish you would put recipe in description like everyone else does
Yum looks delicious!
I’m sitting here high, thinking you’re gonna make chili with ground up hotdogs.
Exactly What I Thought!! ~ And I'm NOT High'!! 😅😅
@@carolholly1608 dude, I don’t even remember this shit or how I got here. No surprise.
This is exactly how my papa makes spaghetti sauce , he just adds rotel. Its delicious

Just how I like it!
Me too!!❤
💯
I had no idea about tomatoes and cast iron. Interesting!
Glad I was able to let you know. I would hate for you to mess up a pan.

I'm trying to think.... maybe a lil beef broth. 🤔
Just add some water and adjust the ingredients
The redhead homewrecker
Great recipe. Have you ever experimented with chocolate in your chili?
No but I have seen recipes that call for it. ❤ I'll have to try it.
👍👍
That doesn’t scratch up that pan using a fork to stir up the meat?
My pans are hard anodized not non stick. The coating is alot thicker. Never scratched them by using metal. Thank you for watching.
Good video 👍
Thank you ❤
I do that without water my grandma thought me but it's a great idea
Thank you.
Where is the ingredient list that you promised would be at the end?
Cinnamon🥰
Do you drain the fat off the ground meat
Yes but most of the time I but lean ground beef at Sam's club.
Candy cooks good in castiron
Yes it does. I use my enameled cast iron as my everyday pots. ❤
I live with my daughter n I’m Leary of using cast iron on her glass top stove does anyone else have an opinion about this
Just don't slide your pans on the top. Make sure it doesn't have a heat ring🙂
Cinnamon is a great flavor enhancer.
It really makes other flavors pop. But you gotta be really careful with it
I agree. If you add to much it can turn bitter. 🙂
I'll add some local ground sausage with my ground beef, 50/50.
That sounds delicious ❤
Never have I put katchup bin my chili interesting
Try it you might like it. Thank you for watching🙂
Just use a potato masher, most hot dog chili recipes calls for water.
I'll try the potato masher. 🥔
Add a lil bit of black coffee
I will have to try that. ❤️
No onions???
Yes I put onions in it.
Not bad
Thank you ❤
I knew you would say Cornbread
Lol.. thanks for watching.
You have ways to learn how to make a true chili dog
Thank you 😊

You lost me with all that ketchup. I would have to try it to know for sure though.

If you're gonna put that cinnamon in there, might as well add a teaspoon of cocoa powder, and make Skyline chili...
I'll have to try that. Thank you!! 🙂
Thank u❤
Cinnamon little Cincinnati in their

You say hotdog chili 🌶 a LOT!!!!!!!!!!! Lol
Im sorry. I'm still pretty new at making the videos. I get a little nervous. When I'm nervous I tend to talk alot.
Apparently your definition of “hot dog chili” is Manwich sloppy Joe. Tasted pretty much the same.
This is what my family likes. Please share what you like and I will try it. 🙂
Stake potato's cornbread
MIX THE MEAT WITH ALL THE WET INGREDIENTS BEFORE YOU BROWN IT WITH YOUR HANDS. IT WILL BE VERY FINE .
Very true. I will try that next time. Thank you for the tip.
Where's the hotdogs 🌭 😕
Lol I guess I should have shown on it on one.
No beans or stewed tomatoes , this seems criminal.
I've made hot dog chili recipes that call for cinnamon, and I personally don't care for them at all. It's gives the ground meat a pronounced flavor that just doesn't compliment a hot dog. Just my opinion!!!
Most of the time I put cinnamon in there. But sometimes I leave it out🙂
I agree totally, cinnamon belongs in cakes & pies. Also I've made different hot dog chili's for over 20 years, and so many call for ketchup which is great for sloppy joes, but not for hot dog chili!!@
I made this today. Waaay too much ketchup for us.
I'm sorry. Let me know how you took away the ketchup. I would love to try it.
Who Gives A Sht About Your Cast Iron Pan , NOBODY
Sorry you feel that way.
Too much time to cook ground beef!!
Where is the salt pepper garlic powder that's not cooking
We aren't fans of alot of salt and pepper feel free to add what makes your heart happy❤️❤️❤️
That’s not chili. It’s hamburger meat and ketchup. Simply awful.
I'm so sorry you didn't like it. Everyone has there own taste. I cook for my family. Maybe I'll make something you will like😊
It would be sooo much better with Heinz Ketchup.
Damn, lighten up on the ketchup...
You can add as much as you want. This is just the way my family likes it.
A hamburger is a type of sandwich that uses a ground beef patty. You are using ground beef, not a hamburger.
Hamburger, ground beef it's all the same, quit being A!@$%##!.
I'll give it a try. But, I have to say, hot dog chili doesn't have any tomato product in it.
I would love to try your recipe❤
