    Just a FYI I did this to my car this evening. I used a harness to put a speaker for chimes under the dash and this white wire he splices into in the trunk is the same as the white wire leaving the radio harness. You can clip it behind the radio and splice in there, saving you the work of running wire to the trunk.

      alan king I didn't find it behind there. But then again, I wasn't looking for that wire exactly. I stumbled upon this wire while testing in the trunk. But thank you very much for the tip. I no longer own the car or I'd do an update video and give you a shout out.

      Dude will this work if i have monsoon? I can just get a harness for my car cut the amp wire from the factory harness and connect it to the amp wire on the stereo harness??? Why does it have to get cut if you are connecting it again anyway?

    Nice video thanks for posting. Since I also have an alarm/remote start unit I tapped into the secondary ignition wire to trigger an external relay so the relay can supply power from the orange 12 volt constant from the factory harness to the red 12 volt switched/ignition wire on the aftermarket radio harness. I then relocated the factory RDS radio to the trunk and connected the necessary power and data/bus wires to the unit so I can retain the ability to reset the (change engine oil, low tire pressure) and other features that the RDS factory unit is needed to change. I have a 01 Monte Carlo SS the 2 wires for the Onstar audio have also been connected to a hi/lo converter and feed to the left front channel of my 4 channel amp using an RCA Y adaptor to have a kick ass Madison Square Garden like system and still retain all the functionality of the cars original setup, one day I will take the time post a video explaining all of this as you have ...again nice video great info thanks for sharing. the white wire is the "remote" wire for the factory amp. wire the radio as normal, and connect the white wire to the remote wire on the radio. everything shoud be behind the radio instead of running the wire to the trunk as i did here.

    Nice job. These vehicles have a cambus system and are extremely challenging to wire without the aftermarket kit. I also own a GM Vehicle with this Canbus system and I found everything you said to be true. No accessory power turn on, no amp turn and no sound. In the end I had to purchase a GM Can-Bus interface and steering wheel control module and I’m an auto technician. @mcdizzle7740 5 років тому +5

    You do realize you didn't actually bypass the factory amp. All you did was hack into the factory harness instead of buying a new one that would have just plugged in. Then you just took the amp turn on lead or power antenna wire and hooked it directly to the factory amp. Without powering the factory amp you get no sound. Therefore you did not bypass anything. I have an 02 Yukon and installed an aftermarket radio. With the wiring harness adapter you can easily hook it up without cutting wires. You do have to connect the amp turn on lead from the radio to the new harness usually blue wire to blue wire or else the radio will come on but you won't get any sound.

    • @dvsaproducts
      @dvsaproducts  5 років тому +2

      Yes we all know that. Im glad your radio is working great. But this is for those who can not find and/or want to dish out an extra $40 to Install a radio in a "hooptie" work car.

      @tattooqua 5 років тому +1

      I Personally think it was a great hack. Especially since the harnesses and steering wheel control for my car (04 Bonneville ) cost over $125 and took a week to come in on order. A interface is definitely the better way to go, keeps all original chimes/warnings works with factory amp even onstar works. But you’re absolutely correct he didn’t bypass the app he found the amp turn on.

      I recommend going to PAC audio They have plug-and-play interfaces with or making model vehicles. I’ve been installing car stereos for a long time some of the interfaces don’t actually work with factory amplifiers. GM vehicles especially I’d recommend going to pack audio and just purchasing the interface they’re a little pricey but for me time I money.

      What is the purpose of this comment? if you know how to do it the "right way", why are you watching my video? cant be wrong if it works. and still works.

      This car doesn't have a switched turn on wire. That's why harnesses for most gms come with a separate wire. U run it to the ignition or run it to the fuse box. I run mine to the fuse box

  • @dvsaproducts

    it didn't work that way.

    Or spend $45 on the harness and do it right . This is how not to do a job .

      You shouldn't comment useless information on someone else's channel. Just because you aren't smart enough, to figure something like this out, it does only mean just that. Rather than learn you criticize. Worthless. Move on with your petty nonsense.

    Show us again how you did not bypass your factory amp lol.. you wired it exactly the same as you would normally bud. Your radio wires are connected directly to the vehicles radio harness which means your radio is still playing off your factory amp. You just made a pointless video and wasted your time cutting your turn on lead from your amp lmao. Also you didn't find ACC 12v because GM does not have that ACC wire in there harnesses unless you buy the aftermarket wire harness for amplified systems with door chimes and onstar if so equipped. Normally you can just run a ACC wire to the audio or amp fuse in the fuse box..or even ACC fuse .. Bypassing your factory amp means you would have had to unplug the amp and splice all the speaker wires An run direct to speakers or made a harness to connect input and output amp wires together.. sorry to say but if you disconnect your factory amp... you not gonna have any sound bud...that means the amp is still powering the speakers.. it's ppl like you that make ppl waste money on burning shit up on there cars. You have not the slightest idea as to wtf your talking about here... why make a video? To everyone watching this b.s... don't follow these directions because it's 100 percent wrong.

      Your extremely ignorant. Correct, i didn't exactly bypass the amp. And correct the wire is in the back of the factory radio. However, there is no possible way to burn anything up. The video helped quite a few people. The point of the video was to not buy the bs aftermarket part. Not much i can say to idiots like you. Hope you have a better day.

      And you obviously don't have any idea of what you're talking about. Since it worked perfectly fine. I didn't even pop a fuse. Since you dont know anything about electronics and would probably fry something. Best you leave it to the pros in your situation.

      yes im sure there is. just find the output and input speaker wires and wire them together. they should all be there at the amp connections.
