Excellent demonstration. Can't beat a good old Passche H.
Very helpful video I have had a H model for a year. Picked up a compressor last night and after watching this I am off to get some testors enamel and thinner. Thank you for making this so easy to understand.
Wish I could do that with Createx Airbrush pearls.LOL. Your videos sure have increased my ability to paint a decent looking model, Thanks Andy.
The good old Paasche model H, my first quality airbrush 40 years ago. Since then I've spent hundreds of dollars on fancy airbrushes, but the "H" is still my go to brush and I do 95% of my airbrushing with it.
its worth every penny
Thanks! I have a ton of cheap Testors paint and I didn't know what to thin them with. Great video!
That is a very good paint job, I like your posting Thank you, I have both model Paasche airbrushes. H and the VL double action
I have been struggling with painting my model cars. Tried cans, acrylic w/ Master dual action airbrush, etc. Saw this video and just ordered a Paasche just like yours. Can't wait to try it! Thanks for this!
I sure miss ya Andy! You always pulled off some great models and ways to paint em!
That paint job looks so good , thanks for the advice & sharing
Andy you are doing great. My first time I will try this with Paasche H Thank you
I've been building models for 40 years now... Lesson= you can always learn something new.. I would have never done this. very well done.. I love this
I recently tried this method, and it works great! Smoothest paint job I've ever done and its so simple! Thanks Andy.
+EZRider1979 .. thank you .. its a great simple technique
I have had several airbrushes over the years, but I always go back to my Paasche H to do my painting 👍
I have watched a thousand paint instruction videos and this was BY A LANDSLIDE, WAY WAY WAAAY more helpful and reassuring than any of them-- even Don Yost. Great work man. Subscribing immediately!
thanks bro
Excellent video Andy ... much appreciated!!🇨🇦😀
I love the Paasche H. It was my 1st airbrush decades ago, then I tried the fancier stuff, but I came back to the venerable H. Sweet and simple.
I did the same. Went for fancy Iwatas that are hard to clean and have a narrow spray pattern. I came back to my H that I bought long ago.
Great video. I model wargaming miniatures and I use my dad's 35 year old Paasche H without issue. It's great for priming and basecoating.
Thanks for making this video Andy, this is the information I have been waiting for!!!
ramblers69 no problem ..thanks !
This is one of the videos that made me decide to buy a Paasche H.
Tried it. Painted several models with it. NEVER had such a good result like with this one!!. So easily. So effortlessly. The only regret I have is that I did not buy one 20 years ago....!!
And because it has only a few parts and because they are bigger than on other airbrushes, it is easier to disassemble and clean, too.
Haven't used it spraying gloss paint (matt only) but with many dozens of F1 car kits and other race cars waiting to be build, I'll get plenty of practice. Can't wait to give it a try.
Love that vid.....just goes to show that you don't need the nice expensive brushes. Never did think the 1 little bottle would paint that whole body.....wow! Thanks for sharing, happy building!!
Nelson Medeiros thanks Nelson
Thank you, just did this it came out perfect,You saved me alot of money, no more rattle cans for me
thanks bro
Wow.. that was awesome. No primer and the car didn't even need a buffing afterwards except for the dust. I'm going to give this a try with my Neo CN and see if it works, and if not.. I'm going to get the Paasche H. Wish I would have found this sooner and I would have gotten the Paasche H instead of the Neo. Thanks Andy.. I'll be checking out all your videos.
Great video and amazing finish
Nice. Building models for almost 50 years now, this H model was my first. STILL using it today with the orginal parts. No problems. Like a Timex she keeps on ticking.
Great video Andy, I will have to give this method a try, paint looks great.
ricks 69z28 thanks rick
After just finishing painting my 6th model, I finally found a paint video that makes sense. The narrow spray pattern of my dual-action is frustrating at best. It seems I should get the Paasche H just to maintain a level of sanity. Thanks for the video.
Awesome tutorial! Thanks!
nice video Andy, love the idea of avoiding all the sanding, clearing, and resanding, and buffing. Cheers :)
DoctorDeadwax thanks ,,and I agree totally ... the better to get a good finish up front than trying to fix it later
I'm buying one this week; Thanks for the video
Excellent. You cover everything.
Thank you for the great tip! I am new back into modeling and I am getting ready to purchase an airbrush set from Paasche. I will follow and watch your videos.
thanks bro ...glad to help
looks so simple and so easy. great looking finish. Thanks
Proinnsiasoc thank you
A great tutorial. Leaves out no detail so others have no guess work. Good audio which makes a difference because we don't strain to understand. To the point, easy to follow, well planned. Thanks - I subscribed. Thanks.
thanks bro
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
JORGE RAMOS thank you Jorge
you're the boss andy! nice job and instructions!
+Assadasd Asdasda Thank you !
sounds good will have to try it thank you very much!
great video, extremely helpful for the new airbrush I got.
Great looking Challenger body!!!!
Paasche H has been in my shop for about 40 years. I have a Paasche VL that has been in use in my shop for about 20 years. A few years back I purchased a Paasche Talon and it is now my main brush mostly due to the ease/speed of cleaning it. I would still use the H or VL where I need to maintain a wet edge over a large area. The H and VL can use the large siphon jars that hold a lot of paint and can be changed out fast.
Great vídeo Andy ..!!!!! Nice look paint..!!!!! Frank jr
In blind modeler thnaks Frank Jr !
I’ve been torn between this and a gravity fed double action airbrush. All the die cast custom and restoration guys I follow use the gravity ones. Last time I owned an airbrush was 50 years ago and didn’t know about thinning the paint then. I’m retired now and am just starting to do custom die cast. Your video was a great help on making my air brush decision.
Informative vid Andy. Thanks for the tips
Armour Empire thank you
Andy.. a simple excellent video...I have had trouble with the airbrushes that I have ; the biggest has been the ratio of paint to thinner....your approach is great and its with an airbrush whose price is far far cheaoer than what I have already spent.....thanks much for the lesson
Great finish
Awesome. I just picked up the paasche starter kit.
Great video. I remember when that bottle of paint cost only 19 cents.
some Testor bottles still has 15 cent price on cap at our local hardware store that had been unsold for years- the owners didnt have many modeler customers- they were sons of the original owner, and just kept the paints in a stand as they had been years before.
Awesome video bud!!!
I picked up a lot on eBay a few weeks back. Mostly for the dual action Iwata airbrush and compressor but it also came with a little Paasche "Starter Kit" brush kit as well. Looks similar to your setup but the whole body is made of red plastic. Haven't got started in airbrushing just yet but seems like i'd want to use the Paasche for doing 1:25 scale car bodies.
have that set up, gotta try this, thank u
Nice job well done.
Good tips. Thanks for sharing.
The Shade Tree Fix-it Man thanks buddy
Great video man keep the video coming.
thanks chip I still have watch a couple of your but gertting there
Hey Andy i have a paasche h love it and I love the paint job she shines like new penny.
thanks bro !
Nice finish!
badgrendels thanks John
I have started using my air brush so im still a bit intimdated by it but vids like this helps a lot thank you for your time
bigken62 thanks again ken
and so cheap for those lil restore enamels compared to spray can testors, thank u so much
thank you
I've got one of these brushes that hasn't seen enough work-time since I've been fighting and fighting with my POS Veda. Here comes the Paashe!
rock on
This a great lesson. Thanks
GYRUSS thank you
Nice trick with covering it in a box. Have to remember that
Hey man. Great vid. I have a dual action gravity feed but its not much good for painting bodies. It wont spray nailpolish properly. Im convinced the Passche H or here in Australia the Artlogic version is a must. Cheers.
Thanks for the video! I bought mine yesterday. How long do you wait before masking or assembly?
Hey Andy I have a paasche h love it and nice workon the paint job
raymond woodring thanks raymond
nice video great tip thank you for showing the modeling
community great how to videos
Jerry Carnes Jr thanks Jerry
yw
great video! would love to see more paint jobs from you using this method. I have some questions, do you sand the body before painting it or do you just spray right on to the body out of the box? Also what clear coat would you use if you were to use one?I just tried this method for the first time and I did end up with some orange peal. I think I was spraying from to far away or did not have enough paint flow at first. However, while spraying I can see how you can have great results.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. What clear coat do you put on your enamels if you were to do decals?
I like your video! -my Paschee senses my fears and trepidations and messes everything up for me...most times I show it whos the boss..! I just painted my Jungle Jim FC 1/16 following your instructions and the blue metal-flake paint from the little Testors glass bottle its soo glossy...no need for glosscote...thanks for this tutorial..!
glad to help ... now go and paint killer finishes bro
Great video
leakygoalie44 thank you
Andy your intro video kicks ass I love it
Jan Haayer thanks ,, yes a bit of annihilator
HI Andy, I started a new model ( lil coffin ) by Revell and painted the frame a Black metallic, I Buy the large bottles of model Masters enamels and use the small testors bottle to thin for airbrushing small jobs So mix lacquer and paint...1to1 and it sprayed very nice and dry in half the time.I'll txt U when i do the Body ! But Thank you for the Helpful Tip !!
thetobin8or thanks bro
andy a great video.
Igot the VL and the H
The H is 22 years old and is what I call great American quality.
I always thought i should use the no 5 needle foe enamels but maybe I should try the 3.
I use 25psi.
I spray O gauge trains.
I think the Paasche H for doing the kind of work both you and I did is unbeatable.
Rugged,
Foolproof
Reliable.
Sometimes I have got orange peel and normal put it down to the paint being to thick so never mix paint by ratio but by seeing if it drips off the end of a small screw driver like milk does.
Like everything else i make mistakes and alway willing to listen to others.
thank you sir means alot
Excellent video. I was wondering you use enamel paint only or do you also spray Acrylics like Tamiya. If so, what kind of thinner ratio would you use?
Simple. I like it. Passche H it is. No more rattle cans for me.
Dear Andy your video is just fantastic!!! Please allow me a question : Similar results can be achieved using an airbrush such as Procon Boy PS-290 / Iwata HP-TH ?
Just wondering about your paint, do you use one whole jar of paint on your model or do you reuse your paint after thinning it and put it back in it's container?
Very nice job on the car body
kiebat10 thnaks !
Nice video bro.. that's a super shiny paint job.. thanks for sharing
High Andy, thanks for sharing. Do you use primers with the testor small bottle enamels?
this vid has been the one on paint that ive been waiting to see, the Doc also utilizes the technique popularized by "The Old Man", truth be told , all you guys are miles ahead of me. just one question tho...How and for how long would you, as an experienced painter allow for this combination to gas including factors like temp & humidity/ the Doc recommends a steel cabinet, sounds reasonable. also i have a cheap "airbrush" brand single action, what kind of results and performance do you suppose i should expect w/ this brush? fabulous vid, subbed you and will catch more. please ck my first and only spray can orange, matte clear weird-oh...there will be more. thanks .....chow
very interesting! No need to prime the model either? I am a minimalist at heart, so I love the small bottle of testors :) I have a Badger 200 which I am yet to use...I think it's a similar brush. It's high time I build me a model. Does the spray booth vent right out a window?
the H is a true classic and prob the only airbrush that 99 percent of us need.
Would you recommend putting Future for a final coat after this paint job?
Hi Andy, may I ask about polishing this paint mixture if there is a few dust spots to remove. Does this enamel sand and polish like lacquer, only most people suggest that it's difficult to get the gloss back. Are you going to be doing a follow-up video on this aspect of the technique? Regards
I see you're cutting it with "green" lacquer thinner. Any thoughts on how it compares with the old style lacquer thinner? I picked up a can of "green" a few years ago and ended up using it to clean stuff in the garage, since it didn't work as well for me for fine spray work.
Sweet man !
pgermain thanks
Nice.
is it okay to use CRAFTSMART paints with this airbrush? or higher end airbrushes
Such a wonderful airbrush. I have a paasche double action, but prefer my h.
What air brush u use the brand i mean , is taht include tube red under air brush, what air compressor u use
Great intro music!
thanks bro its annihilator
Dust can be a real problem and covering the body with the plastic container while it dries might eliminate it but that solvent (thinner) would be trapped inside the container and I have had paint jobs loose that wet looking gloss and die back because it would not allow the new paint surface dry properly. Buffing will restore the shine but the longer it takes for the solvents to leave the more likely they will be to cause other problems that effect the finish. A bit of filtered air allowed to flow through around the curing body would make a big difference.
Andy, can this technique work with model paint lacquers or do you recommend something else?
Andy, I bought the same 2oz bottles from Amazon that you mention in this video. Question: Paasche doesn't offer 2 oz bottles so I'm having difficulty finding a cover for these bottles. Where did you get your cover for these 2oz bottles?
So you didn't use primer on this model? is that okay with any base colors or just light ones like white and grey?
Can you use acrylic thinner instead of lacquer thinner with enamel paints?
Are you able to get two car bodies (of equal size), out of one jar of paint or is it one body per jar?
How long do you wait before masking or assembly?
Is that a 1/4 oz testors enamel red? And are the 2 oz bottles Badger bottles? If so, what lids are you using on them? Badger or Paasche? Great Job, hope to try this method soon on a few bodies I have lined up.
What's up,Andy??? Just now running across this video & thought I'd say hello. Hope all is good, Brother.
Hey Andy, awesome job and love the explanation. I used my Paasche H for the first time this week and found your channel while looking for good examples on how to use it. Subd! One question, can you use the thinner with acrylic airbrush paints like createx also? Thanks again!
no you want to use an acrylic thinner ... you can use the lacquer to clean up with
what kind of compressor are you running?
You Mentioned purchasing more bottles! I was playing around with My Paasche H and found that Tamiya 10 ml 1/3 oz with the wide top fit the airbrush the tube needs to be cut to fit. It doesn't take much to clean the bottle and the lid I know have a lot of spare bottles
good ,,yes there are other bottles that work
