Always use flash drives for important documents. You can slap them into printers and you physically have that data. Bringing a small black and white toner based printer can be a lifesaver at times and usually toner will get you like 1000 pages anyways.
Having a flash drive is better than storing all your files in the cloud, in my opinion. Imagine you needed your presentation for class, but you can’t access it because the wifi went out.
For the sake of your mental health, please do go out of your room every once in a while I'm currently stuck in my room for well over 14 hours a day, not counting sleep, and I'm absolutely miserable and wanna just end things
I’ll actually counter this a bit. Save EVERYTHING on a flash drive and also upload to cloud. You paid for all the class materials. You may not be legally allowed to distribute, but you’re allowed to have copies. Save all the slides, notes, presentations, handouts, etc onto a flash drive or hard drive. If you forget how to do something, you have the ability to come back to it now, and in the way you remember it instead of having to dive through your old books. In the case of storage, being luddite is the better option. Because you can forget your password to your Google account, get hacked or even the servers can go down, so, you have to get an external hard drive(actually two external hard drives) and backup all of your data on these so that you can retrieve it. If you bought two or more external drives then leave some of them at the parent's house, creating an offsite backup. Data loss is no joke. Especially if you're a college student. On your laptop, on your phone, on your external drive, CDs and what not because as I said, data loss is no joke. During high-school we were pushed to buy an expensive ti-84 plus because "it will also be handy for university". When I eventually got to university they don't allow any graphing calculators and the few calculators they do allow (on a very select few courses) are cheap ones that cost at most like 30 bucks. What a waste of $100+
Yep. In the UK they changed the recommended calculator for maths a level about 6 years ago then the kids bring their like 30 quid thing to uni and have to buy a basic one to take into exams

Thing is, I need a PC because I need a device that can run all adobe products and Blender and After Effects. No laptop has enough storage or a good enough GPU that I need(atleast none i can afford)
DEFINITELY bring your setup with you. It's literally impossible for me to get any work done on just a laptop, it sucks having to constantly tab switch back and forth on a 14 inch screen and it feels very hard for me to get locked in on just a laptop. I notice my productivity when on my dual monitor setup is 10x the amount on my laptop just because of the fact that I have way more screen real estate and I can look at multiple things at once.
Use online drives only for the courses you are currently taking for the semester (or documents you actively need). For finished courses or uneeded docs leave them in your laptop or start a new drive with a new account. Otherwise you'd need to pay for more storage space. Best to file them under semester+course so you can move the thing easily at the end of a semester
Flash drives or usbs are more reliable because the provider of the cloud service can essentially delete your data whenever they want, depending on their Terms and Services. The cloud is essentially someone else's computer. And it can also be hacked. Local things are harder to hack
Instead of a room toasting laptop, I’d get a good itx build which already surpasses a laptop in performance and cooling, along with a decent monitor 75-120 dollars. Much better for everyone to consider. You also don’t have to worry about not being able to upgrade 😊
I think the reason why you should use flash drives instead of cloud storage. It's to make sure none of your roommates are dorm mate steal your assignment, so that they can use it and submit first-year teacher without you noticing. Basically you can password protect your actual USB from being used by anybody
As a STEM student the calculator is my savior, also we really do need to bring laptops like all the time, especially for our research (I'm in senior high school student in Philippines) and laptops are just more convenient to use when you need to change classrooms
As a stem major in wildlife bio I didn’t need a graphing calculator for my only math class, I have only completed one year but a basic $10 calculator has gotten me through what I’ve needed so far
At NIU I had many profesors that would only accept presentations via flash drives. (So that they didn't have to work with students google drives and for speed and getting many presentations done a day.) They are absolutely essential for college. Especialy if you are printing on the colleges printers; printing off a flash is significantly faster and easier than connecting to the printer via WIFI.
Word of advice, only bring your PC if you know you have discipline. I brought mine and I enjoy it with limits bc I value going out with friends more, but I do have friends who play games non stop with theirs in their room all day. So, it’s a fine balance for each person ultimately
if you have a pc and a laptop, you can use your pc at the desk for that extra screen real estate, then take a laptop as needed. also you can get fairly large external hard drives, or use github instead of drive so you have version control. particularly good if youre doing CS
Was a physics student and yeah no, never used my graphing calculator in college. It wasn't allowed on tests and i just used desmos for homework. You might need it in engineering but otherwise, really not needed (especially for the price)
While graphing calculators are great for most STEM students, they aren't for engineers. Many (if not most) exams will limit you to either no calculator, or only a scientific calculator. I would strongly recommend the TI36X, especially if you're used to the way a Ti84 works.

We need a part 2 for this one
Bro just violated my every tech rule 💀
You should get a flash drive because they are faster. Or just download it, most laptops have enough storage for everything youd need if you dont also have games on it.
Documents are tiny
Bro has never heard of backup 💀 I made that mistake; I put all of my data on my laptops SSD, and then the SSD failed. All my data, gone. Trust me, don’t make that mistake.
Plus institutions always provide multiple avenues for cloud storage with DropBox equivalents
I like how the last one was a call back to one of your other videos.
a really nice vid.thanks
personally i just do not remember to check digital drives. having a physical item where the data is stored that i can carry with me to literally any device with no need for a password just to access files is what works for me!!
Brooo, the beginning....Wired headphones are fire 🔥
bro, my laptop IS my setup
Same, I got one that works for both practical stuff and for some light gaming
DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON LAPTOP. BUY A PC AND CONNECT REMOTELY WITH A LAPTOP
@@jscs9960 how does that work, doesn't the internet limits its performance by a lot. I mean your laptop has to communicate its input to the desktop and then it will respond to it.
@@winmen5279 performace is limited to ur remote PC setup. software like anydesk servers are enough for work things. if u want to game u will need to pay extra to get less latency

Dawg how are wired earphones underrated, ever since phones started taking the headphone jack out people haven't shut up for them to re-add them
rather have wired earphones any day. wired headphones have a less chance of breaking and even less chance of falling out of my ears and dropping to the ground and being lost forever.
Bro your drawing is soo good 🫂
I have a great idea for you.. pls do a video on what to do with everything once you're done with your college, like things to sell off and platforms to do so on and things to bring back which may be handy and like the best services to do so...
Thing is, I need a PC because I need a device that can run all adobe products and Blender and After Effects. No laptop has enough storage or a good enough GPU that I need(atleast none i can afford)
Oof, good luck with that (fortunately Blender isn't too hard to run)
DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON LAPTOP. BUY A PC AND CONNECT REMOTELY WITH A LAPTOP
i was a math major and NEVER had to use a graphing calculator lol
yeah, you don't actually need it for real math, it's just engineers and physicists that use it all the time lol
@@thisisluxionEngineer here and no we don't. We use cas programs like maple or program it in Python/MatLab/etc.

Nice charge 5
bro had a hidden unspoken item: that comically big wireless speaker
One thing to note for Engineering majors: some school 3D printers will only accept models from a thumb drive so recommend having one for that
emimem has a competition. your sentence transitions are smooth af
NEVER EVER buy a wireless mouse all fun and games untill your mouse dies mid class without batteries
how about instead don't forget to bring spare batteries...
For architrcture and other work, Gaming PC is a must
I think the reason why you should use flash drives instead of cloud storage.
"plus you don't want to be locked up in your room all day" that's literally what i do on a daily basis.
Was a physics student and yeah no, never used my graphing calculator in college. It wasn't allowed on tests and i just used desmos for homework. You might need it in engineering but otherwise, really not needed (especially for the price)
Locked up in my room all day sounds like a dream.
We need the NXT part👍
"Yo bro you got fortnite? "" yeah dude " *becomes bros best friend randomly*
While graphing calculators are great for most STEM students, they aren't for engineers. Many (if not most) exams will limit you to either no calculator, or only a scientific calculator. I would strongly recommend the TI36X, especially if you're used to the way a Ti84 works.
“What is it the 2010s?” I can feel my college self get the time traveling roast all the way back in the 2010s
That mouse you showed is fantastic, I’ve had it for a few years now, its clicks quiet and holds a good charge. Definitely great to use during a lecture
When you've subscribed to Gohar and have seen so many videos that you can hear his voice and the way he says, "And follow Gohar for more tips" without the volume! 😂
This is why you either major in IT or fall into the homelab rabbit hole like I did and self-host pretty much everything you could possibly need--including the gaming system!!
"you dont wanna be locked up in your room all day" i would absolutely want to be locked up in my room all day
Flash drives are underrated they can store your presentation easily
Your channel is so underrated 😊...
Me using the flashdrive from 2010-2024: yes
Being an architecture student I need my gaming pc because it's literally the only thing I own that has the power to run 3d rendering software, my laptop can barely get past x-ray renders as it is
As someone who brought their whole set up, worth it
use flash drivers
sometimes plugging stuff and dragging to another pc is the easiest way, especially laboratory computers
Also always save sensitive data on a backup flash
Flash drives were an oughts thing, I used Google Drive from freshman year of HS thru college. I do recommend having a backup on a flash drive though. Saved me a couple times.
Hearing “STEM” was super satisfying because I’m in the 5th grade and I feel like no one recognizes the class
Here’s a bonus tip. I graduated university last December. Take advantage of all the free stuff on campus. There’s free food, free venues, free printing, free tutoring you pay the school a ton of money take some of it back.
